Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Stop browsing 8chan Juan it'll rot your brain. Though breaking up lumity I can get behind, if only because it was done more so Dana dumbass could cry ''Disney canceled my show because they don't like lqbtqrstuvwxyz representation. " yeah right Dana I'd sooner believe John k's claim that Robin Byrd "slutted up to him', and was the one "using sex to further her animation career. "

You know how bad things have gotten? Even a show as inane and insipid as strawberry shortcake had to jump on the woke bandwagon. In the latest incarnation of that show. There's not only two overtly flaming homos raising a (girl) character but also a fucking Troon. They drop the word trans once but also blatantly show the Troon pride colors, it couldn't be any more obvious.

Though frankly I'm just surprised they'd want to reboot a property like strawberry short cake now. The height of rebooting 80s toy based cartoons was the early to mid 2010s when mlp (for better or worse) was showing you can reboot an older property that wasn't all that great in its day to begin with and make it work for a new audience.

In slightly better news mark made a retrospective on f is for family.
Retrospective?
It's barely been a few years since it ended.

I can't stand LSMark.

I'd say for me, Dana is one of those retards who follows Q and is a total hypocrite at the end of the day

Ahh ffs, Producers! Children are not interested in having gay politics preached at them!! I guess since animation has now mostly become a soapbox to preach their own ideals rather than tell compelling stories this will sadly be the norm for the foreseeable future. Its why animation is objectively getting stale. Its distressing.

In other news Cellspex releases her take on the new TMNT movie, I personally think it'll definitely eclipse the 2007 animated movies and the trashfire Michael Bay films but in all honesty I'm not really a fan of the whole Lower frame rate style of animation that Spiderverse pioneered now. The art style is admittedly very pretty but the low frame rate isn't impressive, it just reminds me of a chugging cutscene from a PS1 game at this point. To each their own I guess.

Just perusing my email, when in a Ticketmaster promotion I saw....this (location redacted because duh).
bluey oh no.png

Normally, this wouldn't be something to bat an eye at, but this is Bluey we're talking about here. Considering the fanbase it's attraced, I hope the poor families who take their kids for an afternoon of family fun aren't subjected to Bluey's Big Furry/Adult Autist Gathering instead.

Thoughts?
Honestly the anime series people recommend constantly bore the fuck out of me. Except for the older anime movies I don't care. It's the same eye bleedy type color pallets and the same design's. The ones that people say "are rlly emotinal and will mak u cri" make me cringe.

All this talk about wokeness and shit in modern animation actually has given me an idea for, of all things, a Rainbow Brite fanfic.

Basically, one day show's regular villain Murky Dismal finds Rainbow Brite in his lands, traumatized, and actually wanting him to destroy Rainbow Land.

Murky investigates, and finds out that Rainbow Land got taken over by four people from Earth who are sort of like Queen Beryl's generals from Sailor Moon, except they're all troons. They had tricked Rainbow into thinking they just wanted to help but were actually subverting things behind the scenes, forcing the Color Kids to engage in bizarre sex acts or outright transition, and finally forced RB herself to watch porn, which is why she's now traumatized.

Instead of feeling a sense of victory, Murky actually finds this whole situation appalling--if nothing else, he always understood that colors represented "happiness and hope," not whatever the fuck these new people are trying to push. So him and RB team up to save Rainbow Land and "reclaim the rainbow" if they can... or burn it to the ground if it turns out it really is beyond saving.

Also one of the evil newcomers would actually be not-so-evil, someone who joined the evil group because they wanted a world where their cross-dressing wouldn't make them an outcast... Only to find that they essentially still are an outcast, except instead of being insulted and mistreated, people suck up to them out of fear of reprisal. So the token good one join's Rainbow and Murky's side.

I'm in between ideas for who the leader would be,and what their motive is. I at first thought a big evil demon, but then I figured it would be better if it was just some normal human.

...............

Anyway, I've decided to quit with Ducktales 2017 for awhile--its just not worth losing braincells over--and go back to the 80s and 90s for a bit.

Thing is, I'm not sure what to watch. I feel like I've seen all the big name stuff like He-Man and Ghostbusters.

So guys, what would you consider underrated cartoons of the 1980s, 1990s.... hell maybe even 70s, 60s, 50s.... and maybe the 2000s (but not the 2010s, please)?

Like, what's something you liked but you never hear anyone talk about?

Also, this is more of a Comic question than anything, but does anyone know where I can download a scan of Garfield: His 9 Lives? I used to have a physical copy but I think I must've sold it. And I remember actually liking it (the animated version is, of course, easy enough to find, but I think the comic is significantly different).

That's two reboots of shows predominantly meant for preschoolers that have put a fucking troon in it (Blue's Clues being the other one). Totally not grooming kids though, no siree! 🤮
Considering the showrunner of that pile of shit is a fag himself... it doesn't surprise me...

Fucking hell man. I thought the new shorkcake show was just some run of the mill show churned out by corporate America in the hopes of launching the next fad in kids programing. (Think the yo Leela Leela episode of futurama) but to find out its being spearheaded by this guy? It just makes me feel like maybe a second animation dark age isn't a bad idea after all.

And I mean one where the industry goes back to being heavily regulated and selective about who they hire to be in charge of the shows they make. Maybe...like if you had to hypothetically choose between a lesser of two evils.
