Does anyone have an explanation why mods damage controlled so hard for Ruggarell ( Joshua Ulmer ) when he got doxxed compared to other posters on the website?
My guess is because he is so infamous across the whole site. That nigger is rightly hated and there have got to be countless posts from anons throughout the years threatening to kill him. The mods probably genuinely fear that something could happened to him IRL and that they could held liable if they don't do anything mitigate the spread of his info.
In a rare post from a 4chan moderator, it was stated that someone had quietly snuck that name into the banned phrases log. I think the mod also stated it had since been removed, but I haven't seen anything to suggest that yet.
Either way, the new person you can't identify is a trans CSIS[FBI but for Canadians] glowie that SoyjakParty doxxed. If you post their picture on 4chan, you get a near-immediate rangeban. So naturally, I'll post the picture provided I can snag it before the jannies do.
EDIT: I done found it, fellas - let's find out if CSIS tracks this photo everywhere, pardon the low quality

there's a claim on this though (catbox archive link)

it also makes one wonder how did someone get access to banned phrases to slide in a very specific username...
there was huter biden banwaves too if you look at the linked 8ch thread.
nyn the CP posting toddlercon.
nyn is a namefag that spams toddlercon and real CP on several boards, but mainly sticks to /v/. Last year he was the one that abused embedded images to spam CP and he is also known for sharing a screenshot of his desktop to reveal images of CP.
Better not call him a tranny though.
kek, the new tranny jannies are fucking awful at trying to mold content, i'm mentioning the whole "don't say tranny" bans these fags are trying to enforce, it will literally become the same evasion tactics as the soy word on blueboards.

Matbe the famous rdrama euphamism will stick. I,"d like to see jannies ban that...

i'm using the fed term.
Lmao I took a 50/50 shot was going to use the fed term first but then thought otherwise. Still, if they couldn't infer both meanings equate to the same thing that is on them.

I was high as fuck when I wrote it anyways to many damn edibles.

Sorry to report, but I had a thread up for half an hour on /vt/ spamming tranny hate memes like a faggot and didn't even achieve my monthly ban quota, not even a warning. Apparently you need to post in the generals themselves for best effect.
Usually threads with +200 posts and only 10-30 IPs returns decent ban results. Formula of success: Discord + Tranny * 41% = ban.

I think one of the weirder things about 4chan, or at least the boards I frequent, is how much of the userbase seems to exist in this weird vacuum where time stopped in 2012, and they still post like things nearly a decade old just came out. The use of the world oldfag comes to mind, where it's in reference to posters from 2005 as if those dudes are still around and not in their 40s with a wife and kids by now. Hey, Moot did it, why not the others?

Would you much better informed people say 4chan got worse or is that just a meme (ie ‘you just grew up’)?

Both. It existed in a Wild West-like state for nearly a decade: the internet still was new and unexplored territory for so many people when it was created, a lot of which were weirdo/nerd teenagers and young adults. It gave them (us) a place to freely express and discuss ideas, even if it was mostly through layers upon layers of irony, sarcasm, shitty humor, and edginess. It provided, for better or worse, some of the building blocks for much of Internet and meme culture, some of which last to this day or had lasting cultural impact IRL (RickRoll and Project Chanology, for instance). These, however, have always been the exception: diamonds in the middle of tons of tripe, especially in high volume boards like /b/ and /v/.

As it grew, more and more people came in, attracted either by the "dark and edgy" or "dumb and nonsensical fun" aspects that were the public image of the site, without really understanding or having thick enough skin to deal with actual site culture. And, instead of fucking off when they found this out, they dug their heels in and, little by little, started to change 4chan's cultural zeitgeist, starting from the most famous boards. Users old and new shitposted and trolled all day and night long, just because the site was known for shitposting and trolling: these were seen as core tenets of 4chan discussion, not just side effects of heated arguments or a search for lulz or something interesting/weird to discuss. People slowly forgot that ironic shitposting is still shitposting, and fell into the Cartesian Spiral ("Any community that gets its laughs by pretending to be idiots will eventually be flooded by actual idiots who mistakenly believe that they're in good company.").

From then on, things went only downhill, accelerated by the Gamergate clusterfuck, and temporarily slowed down by the 2016 elections and the whole hilarious mess of /pol/'s Pepe/Meme Magic and trolling of MSM.

That's a strange way to spell 2012
I deffo meant 2014. There's a bunch of shit that happened in 2014 that cemented the end of the old internet as we knew it. (4chan alone had The Fappening and moot taking off).

Would you much better informed people say 4chan got worse or is that just a meme (ie ‘you just grew up’)?
It has definitely gotten worse. I don't think the userbase has much of the old guard and the new blood are not made the same way the oldfags were. To be honest I don't think the newfags are even nerds/geeks, because gen z don't really have nerds/geeks in the same way the millennials did.

.....where time stopped in 2012, and they still post like things nearly a decade old just came out.......
Well, we have the nth iteration of wojak and pepe memes now. I think culture in general has stagnated.

Thank you both, I noticed that /v/ in particular suddenly became very mainstream in its tastes and attitudes. There’s still some 4chan bombast and edginess but it’s rather less avant garde (thus it’s boring, like the horseshoe equivalent of someone harassing ‘transphobes’ on twitter).

I'd say also gookmoot buying the site also ruined it, his intentions were never pure.

There has definitely been a cultural shift when moot left. Hiro only made his presence known for half of a year at best and then threw all of the responsibility on the mod team. The mod team and jannies have been progressively more ban happy each year over mundane and minor postings, and with no one to tardwrangle the jannies it'll only get worse.

moot used to actively tard wrangle the jannies and even though he hated shit like /pol/ he didn't let the jannies actively shit it up, except occasionally on a prank day like he'd also do to /b/

But people are wearing nostalgia goggles if they think it was ever good. Fun, maybe, good, not really. And then it got horrible. And then it got worse. moot cucking out and then leaving was the final straw for old 4chan, and it was on a continued slow decline until the jannies realized gookmoot utterly didn't give a shit and actively started destroying the site.

I'd say another watershed moment would be when they moved from irc.rizon.net to some gay Discord and started loading up the mod team with tranny scum.

I'm not going to sit here and say that 4chan was always good, but I think it is thoroughly undeniable that Gamergate, Moot leaving and the 2016 election have destroyed the site. Even the free speech aspect is a complete lie now because jannies will try to get you banned over a difference of opinion and there's a growing presence of like actual feds trying to stir shit. Like @AnOminous said; Moot, if nothing else, used to actively keep the patients from running the asylum. Which is the bare minimum the admin should do.

I don't know about that, even though /v/ seems to be growing ever more hostile to the indie scene, it's not like most indie games are actually good. A lot of folks seem to be noticing that the big meme games always hit the same few beats. Pixel artstyle, easily fappable waifu characters, Dark Souls style difficulty. Just natural pushback. They still fucking despise Sony games though by and large.

Expecting /v/ to notice waifu marketing sounds optimistic to me. Idk. Not like I visit regularly.

Hell, I had a jannie that broke the #1 rule of being a 4chan jannie: used his authority to tell me to fuck off out of a thread and instead go make a complaint on the IRC after deleting all of my posts. When I made a complaint on the IRC I got instantly banned with the reason: cry moar. Jannies just want to ERP and ban transphobes, it's so fucking bad.

hiro only intervenes when it hurts his bottom line, else he remains on 2ch.
with the new wave of advertisers and shills popping up i think he'll get a good surplus of income until it the site is sanitized enough to a point of scaring even his cash cows because let's be real, 4chan is basically a reddit where you can say nigger for now and with less traffic than it, once reddit mods migrate to 4chan shit is going to get fucked.

where are the screen shots and archives? fuck's sake, nigger.
if you want to make the "competition" do a run on them you archive shit and post screen shots to make them post shit around to make jannies work overtime.

How profitable can 4chan be? With that reputation the site seems more useful for Below the Line campaigns and guerrilla marketing rather than traditional upfront advertising but the people doing that sort of stuff don't necessarily have to pay anyone just to astroturf their product on the site. Crypto scammers and Indie game devs have actually been fairly succesful spamming their own bullshit in there.

I was shitposting in an ATF thread on /v/. Some of these guys are actual pedophiles or their threads attract other local /v/ pedophiles like the anon who posts pictures of his "little sister" looking at his loli porn. These threads are spammed by an ATF discord group with a single goal: shill as much western pedo bait games so that they can get people to install their porn mods. One of these raiders also comes from Ruggarell's discord and became part of the ATF raid group too. They get hilariously butthurt when you call them bots, discord trannies, and so on. Sometimes they get worked up to call in the jannies, and this is the first time where the jannies go out of their way to babysit this thread. They cleaned up the shitposting, threw out a few bans, and autosaged it at first. But, then one of the discordfags got the jannies to change their mind a few minutes later.

and then shortly after pointing out the hypocrisy, the janny chimes in.

Got banned shortly after for abusing the report button.
There is nothing to post about the IRC; I just simply asked, "How will you solve the pedo problem on /v/?" and I was immediately banned. Chat log got cleared along with it.

Take note that these /v/ ATF posters do try to post CP and child models. They even have dedicated pedophile artists that trace over real children.

This summarizes why I had a meltdown earlier in the thread.
