Phalloplasty: what it actually looks like
I see a lot of hate and bashing of phalloplasty in a lot of places. A post about it was around just recently that got lots of upvotes (and I’m glad!), but I’d like to add some things, as I’m very much nearing my own surgery date:
I believe that most people who think phalloplasty is ugly or looks bad see stage 1 results only, or immediate post-op results. This was the case for me as well before I really researched it. I dubbed it “a worm penis”, until I realised that’s not all that there is to it.
There are multiple stages to phallo, with stage 2 being glansplasty. No, your dick doesn’t look like a hot dog, sausage, worm, etc. unless you want it to, as they create a glans. With a full phalloplasty, you get a penis with a scrotum and testicular implants, as well as urethral lenghtening. You can get an erectile device implanted as well.
Here you can see an example of immediate post-op and healed after stage 2 with glansplasty.
Medical tattooing is also a possibility. A medical tattoo artist can pigment the glans, whole penis, or add veins to it to make it look more realistic.
This is an example of medical tattooing in the phallo subreddit.
This is another example in the same sub.
It’s not for everyone as there’s potential loss of sensation, very expensive price tag, lots of recovery, but I hope this sheds some light on the fact that phalloplasty does not look like a weird hot dog penis - except for inbetween stages, as your body needs to heal, and it does not look like that forever. Personally, even if it looked like that and didn’t have a glans, the pros would outweigh the cons and I still would get the surgery.
