Transphobia overlaps with QAnon? QAnon is waiting for an apocalypse? What exactly does he think QAnon is?
I think he means the Great Awakening, which is apocalyptic in the sense of divine revelation. The transphobia bit is probably a reference to transvestigators, who predate QAnon but get lumped in because Olly is a myopic thinker who who doesn't care to distinguish between different strains of The Enemy.

What "failed" "constant totalitarian enforcement" attempts does he have in mind?
His Twitter circle is obsessed with giving their struggle Holocaust vibes even when the comparison makes no sense, which is most of the time.

And lastly, for someone whose expertise is philosophy he pretty casually dismisses that ideas die out naturally all the time. Presumably he puts on his powdered wig and zoot suit before going to have his black bile drained with leeches by the medicine man who reminds him not to masturbate so as to not develop dementia but then unfortunately has an attack of nervous exhaustion on his way home because of rotting food that was left in the street the miasma from which might give him chlamydia. All that stress is going to give him ulcers.
True, but that would require him to study history, not philosophy, and to admit that the 21st c. concept of transness is, like so many other historical ideas, produced and bound by place & time. Philosophers reach for the eternal. They reach so hard and want so badly that they overwhelmingly struggle to admit that even the ideas they've deemed eternal may wither when the ground shifts beneath them. Good philosophers make peace with uncertainty and mortality, of course, but many famous and otherwise never get there.

Olly has decided that transness is an Eternal Identity, not a phenomenon produced by a specific culture, subject to change, because it makes his favored idea feel big, vital, and undeniable. I think it's more or less natural to do this when you get into a particular idea — to exaggerate its importance in the grand scheme of things because it matters to you. Still, you expect an intellectually conscientious person to try to have some perspective. Olly would never because he doesn't care about ideas in their own right — only as means to the ends he desires.

Does anyone else think he's been nicer on Tumblr lately? Both in answers to asks and this post. He doesn't usually post Patreon thank yous to Tumblr, and his Twitter threads on the matter are more generic.

"a lot of my rivals are gone" is classic PT though — just funny that he openly calls them "rivals" rather than peers or friends.

I remember when this thread was only 20 pages and moving at a snail's pace. How times have changed. When I used to hatewatch Breadtube, I could never watch PT's videos. I could stand Shaun, Contra and the broom closet ogre that is Vaush, but something in Choob's eyes activated the big, red button in my brain labelled "Nope". He definitely raped Contra. 100%. He's got those "eyes in the tall grass" eyes.

I especially like it because his original proposal was "giving you a free philosophy degree through YouTube" but the debates regarding philosophy of science (and the related philosophy of history) have been some of the most important debates in modern philosophy and modern academia.

But when it comes to trans identity he's declaring that he, personally, has achieved the apex of all objective truth already and that the rest of human history will never improve upon it or falsify it. How is this not a religion then? (Before you bring up that there's no supernatural element consider how they treat "gender essence" and shit like that.)

As many people have pointed out in these debates, it's not science that's falsified by these kinds of premises because the scientific method will continue to work, it's philosophy that becomes impossible. He is, in effect, contending that his own most important personal project is worthless. (Other than perhaps as a political (or personal) power play if we read what all the academics who take this position argue.)

It's very like a religion, I don't think this fact can be overstated. Formal religions may require a supernatural element, but the religious part of the human mind doesn't need this in order to cook up elaborate belief systems which are impervious to reason. When troons say "I believe a man can be transformed into a woman" it's essentially similar to saying "I believe human sacrifices make the sun rise in the morning", the only difference is the cultural background against which these superstitious ideas are cast.

If I may put in a word of defence for philosophy, I don't think anything Tube does will ever affect its viability as a discipline lol.

I think any claim to absolute truth is religious. if not a religion per se. But the idea of transition is more like the stereotypical cable-TV-esque picture of religion than any troon will admit. It's totally unverifiable - all that's required is the person's say-so, and the movement will not accept any notion that can be invalidated. They've been mulling about exceptions to that belief with this non-binary Colorado Springs shooter, but I doubt it'll ever gain traction because that would open the door to endless questions, from inside the movement as well as outside. An AGP vs. dysphoria civil war, for instance.

At the risk of stating the obvious, they are so committed to this dogma that none of them will ever answer Matt Walsh's little question. If someone were ever to define "what is a woman" in the abstract, disassociated from any individual, then that would also make it possible for anyone to question any transition. So we are left with an unsaid concept of womanhood as an ineffable, metaphysical essence that makes you socially superior, feted, and able to openly indulge in narcissism.

"I am feel uncomfortable when we are not about me?"

This is probably the most blatant example yet. Not only is he openly hijacking someone else's Attention Hour with his own thirst picture, he also one-upped their hexagon with his decagon, something I would only expect from cartoon characters.

Honestly I think back when I was a BreadTube-loving lefty back in like 2018-2019, his video about "sex work" was the big red flag that maybe this guy is just a massive pervert masquerading behind intellectualism.

We can avoid this too and simply point out that it's logically inconsistent: if it's entirely relativistic so that anyone can declare anything then anyone can also declare the opposite, by separating the connection to objective sex then anyone can simply dismiss your claim. With apologies to Shania Twain feeling "like a woman" is meaningless, and even if it was not feelings cannot be independently verified so it's not evidence for anything. I can accept you actually feel a way either on principle or otherwise but this says nothing about anything, you can be mad or sad about the dinosaurs being gone but this doesn't place a duty on me to think the dinosaurs are still around. It certainly does not cause the dinosaurs to manifest.

In effect, it's demanding others accept your truth claim. This is just narcissism and/or totalitarianism. People accept this in almost every other instance (if I were to present an argument they don't accept on such grounds, whatever it may be, they would immediately reject it and point it out) but because it's "progressive" to suspend it in this instance we're all supposed to be bound by the willful suspension.

Long time enjoyer of this thread. Hadn't seen anyone post this yet..

Actually upsetting - give me those hats - and fucking offensive to what women, especially older women, have worked and suffered for in Newcastle and all of County Durham. This is a problem with not only troons, but many young women of the internet who claim to be feminists. Women in the north had much the same situation as women under the Soviets for a long time - they worked themselves to death in factories, were beaten by drunken, paycheque-pocketing husbands, and slept on cots in the family's boiler room so their 12 younger siblings could have beds. The sexism and general shit parenting was off the charts, and there are surely hundreds of "trailblazing" real female Geordies who deserve a spot on that list before Chube's Swinging Chube. This public school cunt hasn't done and doesn't know shit.

Exactly - apart from not being a woman, he hasn't done anything. It's impossible to believe there isn't at least one more woman from Newcastle who actually has some notable achievement to her name who deserves to be on the list more than Olly.

Let's have a look at this puff piece in detail:

Born in Newcastle in 1993, she excelled as both a philosophy student and an actress
I don't know what grades he had, but his embarrassing career as a crossdressing edutainer (a career which he wouldn't have without his army of pseudo-intellectual paypigs and troons to support him) makes it obvious that he didn't excel as a philosophy student. His giant head has never once contained a single interesting or original thought about philosophy or anything else. And we have documentary proof of course that he isn't an excellent actor either.

before setting up her Philosophy Tube YouTube channel a decade ago as a response to the increase in tuition fees, determined to ‘give philosophy away for free’.
Olly's actual, more deluded, claim is that he's giving his philosophy degree away for free, to which the only response is 'you get what you pay for'. Philosophy itself of course is actually free if you really want it and are willing to make the effort to read and understand it, rather than brainlessly watching Olly's fetishwear vanity projects - the majority of the most important works of philosophy are in the public domain and can be easily found online. Or go to a library.

Identifying as a lesbian and trans woman, Thorn has become a remarkable champion for LGBTQ+ and trans rights
For 'rights', read 'childish and unreasonable demands'.

as well as providing informative and often witty lectures on Descartes or Eagleton.
'Lecture' is far too dignified a word to describe even Olly's early YouTube summarisations of basic philosophical concepts, let alone his current AGP-fuelled exhibitionism. 'Informative'? Perhaps, but only in the sense of 'TMI'. As for 'witty', this is a more or less typical example of Olly's attempts at wit:

A total polymath, she divides her time between campaigning, acting, writing and fundraising
When he's not too busy jacking off in women's underwear that is.

is an absolute, and very contemporary, force for good.
This Get Into Newcastle website appears to be funded by council tax money. I wonder how many of the good citizens of Newcastle would agree that Olly's relentless pushing for trannies to have free reign to force the public to indulge them in their creepy fantasies and to punish anyone who disagrees with them makes him a "force for good"?

Oh lawd how I wish the brewing cancellation of F1NN5T3R would rub off on Ollie

The irony of that second tweet! :story:

"extremely offense to women (trans women in particular)"
Handmaidens… not even once.
There is no difference between this weird young man and any TiM aside from motivation.
Finnster is at least actually honest about the fact that it's all just a charade.
