We have been evangelizing the wonders of diversity now for four generations. Even if 95% of the population believes it’s bullshit, there are still millions of true believers out there who will sing the praises of diversity when some gutter nigger robs, rapes and kills you. That’s all it takes too, only a small number of true believers to act as cultural commissars and a population who just wants to grill and thus refuses to fight back.

Ultimately they just care about whoever is most likely to give them everything they want. Sometimes that’s a Democrat, sometimes that’s a Republican. Demographic realities are what they are and make it very challenging for a Republican to win at the presidential level. The Republicans do not care because they’ve been hand selected to be controlled opposition who hates the idea of leading. Their job is to be a facade of opposition and once the jig is up, they drop out and become a lobbyist for 10x more money, highly paid sinecures, and serve on the board of various think tanks where they make $50k to show up at a quarterly meeting.

I really hate to agree with anything Barney buttfucking Frank of all people says, but there's a real push from TPTB to crack down on crypto, and the tactic they are using is debanking. You know, same thing they're trying to do with guns, porn, Kiwifarms, and anything else fun in life. In this case, it's because they want to eliminate competitors to Fedcoin and gain total control over the crypto market just like the stock market is manipulated, since they HATE being only one of the groups manipulating crypto. That said, I dunno if Signature was particularly fucked compared to other banks.

From what I can gather over the last few days, the majority of banks seem to hold less the 30% of deposits in liquid assets. Any bank that does that immediately goes tits up during a bank run, especially since banks no longer have to report unrealized losses. They keep saying 98% of SVB's books will be squared by FDIC and leaves something like $2bil unaccounted for. Those figures don't include their $15bil in unrealized losses from treasury bills.

To play devil's advocate: Surely real estate developers make the most money if there's a consistent swing between good and bad economies? Buying during the bad, and selling during the good?

Trying to game the market is far less preferable to "Number go up". If things are always improving, your assets are always growing faster than your costs, and you can liquidate some to buy low value property to develop and keep the inflated game going. Trying to game downturns is difficult in property as they're not super liquid - it can take a long time to liquidate your assets or close purchases, which can miss ups and downs. There's a reason its played on a long time scale.
