The comparison to Tolkien is weird, because if anything, he had the opposite flaw of nothing happening that wasn't absurdly planned out in advance, and the Silmarillion and the million or so unpublished pages of his world-building vastly outnumber the pages that were actually published.

Arguably, going that direction makes your work even more boring.

Who? There was an Applejack Cameron in Zoophobia?
Exactly my point, comrade.

OK, OK, different example. Would Avatar: The Last Airbender be as beloved as it is today if, halfway through the story, Michael and Bryan said, "so, that whole overarching plot about Aang defeating the Fire Lord? Fuck that shit, the whole rest of the series is going to now focus on Sokka's on-again, off-again relationship with Suki!" Oh wait, they already did that.....

AND IT SUCKED ASS.

Up yours if you think I'm dissing Tolkien. However, The Hobbit is a lot more engaging than the LotR trilogy, and I defy anyone to disagree with that.
I can't be assed to read El Quijote. Those books are a fucking slog and theyre just as important.
It has a bit of a rocky start, especially if you aren't familiar with the genre it is parodying, but stick with it. It is WELL worth the payoff.

What do y’all think who’s the worse dad https://youtube.com/shorts/jOPC_gvY-7M?feature=share
I think this goes for Crimson even though they're all somewhat shitty.

Stolas is actually probably the best, tied with Blitz (if I'm not going to pronounce it I'm not putting it on the end either). They both actually care about their daughters even if they're pretty bad at actually carrying it out.

>TV show about Hell
>Everyone there is gay
What did she mean by this?
really all this tells me is that no matter what. Viv is a leftist and worships the dogma of the left. She just manages to keep her sperging about it to social media and her personal life and off her creative works...usually.

One might say she's a worthy antithesis to the farm's thesis.

Oh and about the whole "retaking hell?" If hell exists you can't "retake" it. It's designed to be a place to punish every being under the sun that ever betrayed or disobeyed or offended god in some way. The oldest lie in the book is to portray it as some sinner's reward where everything is debauchery and decadence. Even Mr. Morningstar himself is being punished down there, not ruling it like some big boss as most depictions of it would have you believe.

So sorry vivxie, but your argument is invalid.

I finally caught up, and yeah it's a bit disappointing. Like, look I like character drama, it's interesting and fun when done well. But we already had the gay angst, why did they have to do it again?
They straight up took the objectively coolest genre of media, mafia movies, and just made it a big gay joke. And having a mafia of demons? Holy shit, that could be a show in and of itself. All they had to do was make Moxxie's backstory a ripoff of Goodfellas. A little imp idolizes his father the mafioso, he joins the family, make a reference to the heist in Heat so he can still meet Blitzo in jail. For the gay shit, maybe take a page out of John D'Amato's story.
How they handled Moxxie's backstory was really bad, just the most generic shit you could write. At least with Stolas we have a Game Of Thrones arranged marriage royalty thing going on that's an interesting avenue, but with Moxxie all we have is mommy issues.

So why did even Dante make Hell look more fun than his own version of Heaven? And he was trying to make it look like the worst place imaginable. But almost nobody reads Paradiso, because it is the most boring-ass fucking thing I've ever read. Great. I'd rather be in his Hell than his Heaven.

We still have Angel Dust. Almost certainly a mob guy himself. Although his junkie dad was probably not even a made man, much less a godfather.

Since Viv loves to write family drama, Moxxie could have had a backstory that was a twist of A Bronx Tale where, as a child, he meets a hardworking demon who instills in him the value of being respected instead of being feared. Then, Moxxie is torn between the loyalty to his father and what he was taught by his childhood friend.

I think it's actually fine Vivz can actually tolerate and even express views counter to her own as compared to the usual bullshit where not even villains are allowed to express such opinions without getting accused of endorsing them yourself.
I think she does this in a clever way almost like on a South Park sense where she can create characters in a bipartisan perspective that are polar opposite to her obviously libertarian stance but can be enjoyed in a way that if you have those ‘hellish’ viewpoints you can enjoy and agree with them. It’s a safe space for conservatives and liberals which doesn’t happen enough in animation nowadays.
I'm genuinely impressed that this fanbase has not cancelled Brandon Rodgers yet. From saying the word "nigga" despite not being an unga bunga, and joking about tranny's, rape, racism against multiple groups, pedophilia, having Hitler in blame the hero etc.

OH AND WE CAN'T FORGET HIM SAYING *GASP* THE RETARD WORD!!!!!!!! View attachment 4758944
Only a matter of time kek :story:
If you’ve seen Brandon Rogers original work than I suspect a large portion of his stuff moved onto Helluva boss and don’t really give a fuck because they know his edgy shtick and they think it works well in that universe. I think even they get that he’s meant to be an asshole even by hell’s standards but who knows given enough time I’m sure they might go woke and find something to bitch about him.
Recently just saw what Crimson looked like from one of the artist's animatic of the episode....

Why is it that the concept art of episodes always look so much better and more interesting than the final product? Crimson here looks like an actual intimidating, grown man who means business. He looks powerful and imposing; an actual threat that you don't want to get on their bad side. Instead we get...

Moxxie 2.0....
That is an enormous shame, was his character design nerfed simply because it would be a strain on the animators? That doesn’t seem right since the series have really been brilliant and consistent with its fight scenes and general detail. The backgrounds are becoming more and more detailed and the movement is incredibly fluid on the level of hellbenders and Harry Partridge at this point, its a perplexing choice I'll say that.

Watched it, didn't really get a laugh out of me but whatever comedy is subjective etc etc.
But there's one thing that really made me not really like this episode, and that's how they never really give moxxie the chance to stand and defend himself.

Sure, he stood up to his dad but then he gets shocked and he becomes the damsel in distress for like, what, the 3rd time in the series now? that has to be saved by the wooden-plank-with-0-personality millie and blitz,

Cmon viv, give my man moxxie some action for himself, let him save his ass for once, he supposedly had an arc about how he wasn't strong and capable to then overcome his weaknesses in the harvest festival episode, but they soiled it by having blitz be the one who fights with striker instead of moxxie. (another thing that bothers me is how blitz always has to be present one way or another in the episodes, i get he's the main guy but let the others figure out shit by themselves man).

I hope this issue eventually gets adressed and they give mox some good action shit for once.

I don't know whats with this reply shit. I know it was here before but now its autistically making mid-length posts unrepliable.

@thegooddoctor You're really reaching when Viv is an absolute midwit. Its more that shes more focused on the plot than on current year politics.

He's the designated effete for the show.

Also I think it might be worth it to split the thread into a Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss thread because at some point both shows will start airing at the same time and it'll be a clusterfuck in only one thread. Just my 2 cents.

I think it's a rule in these MLP-influenced shows that the characters learn the same lesson over and over and OVER and over again. So come back again in a few years and Fluttermoxx will still be learning to be assertive.

I want to tard out about both of them in the same thread.

The only time Mox got to "save the day" was in the first episode, even though he was the reason the I.M.P crew ended up in peril. Also, his arc in that episode was nullified when he called the cops on the remaining family members only for them to get the Waco treatment.

While I did think this episode was better than the last two, yeah, most of these posts are accurate. Moxxie standing up to Crimson at the end was promising, and I liked the line about showing him how good he's gotten at his job, but then comes the taser and yet another of Millie's save-the-day murder sprees (with Blitzo conveniently being out of commission). It's really frustrating how they take a step forward in some areas only to take two steps back in others. Again, a big part of the problem is Millie, and it baffles me how people can say she's one of the better parts of the show.
