Clays are a great way to build up and master the exact kind snap reflex instincts and coordination that good shooting need, especially if they're released in multiples or in quick sucession, moving targets you just don't have the time to track them by normal aiming, so it perfects the instinct of knowing where your shots are going to go just from muscle memory without taking time to think.Definitely true; part of why I like clays so much, the only equipment of any consequence is the choke, and outside that it's between you and a moving target to show your skill.
The best shooting, when you're really "in the zone" its like you're just observing yourself doing it, you're not thinking about it.
It takes a while to for the pieces to fall into place but once it just clicks, it becomes almost like tying your shoes, you just do it you don't stop to think about where the laces are going to make the knot.
