The uncanny valley hyperrealism that black simmers tend to be into is extremely creepy. Reminds me of the photoskinning trend of custom content in the mid 2000s:My absolute favorite subgenre of sim modders are the ghetto black women. The stark contrast between the people who mod their game to be cutesy and pastel and these women who make their game as uncanny and trashy as possible is hilarious to me. The sims they create have unsettling proportions (either morbidly obese or built like kim kardashian) with spider lashes, extravagant weaves, long nails and hyper realistic skin textures. They have a penchant for modding their consumerism into the game, so their sims too can enjoy getting their lashes done or buying hair care products or even working at an entire T-mobile store for some reason.
There's this one modder I especially like because she makes her own aspiration and personality trait mods like this:

These "black simmers" also really dislike non-black sim players. Here's an example of one calling to create their own racially homogeneous subreddit because people had the audacity to criticize a creepy looking sim that was posted on the sims 4 subreddit:

The issues that TS4 has, is due to it being originally developed as a multiplayer game, similar to The Sims Online. After SimCity 2013 got massive backlash for it's always-online play, TS4 had to be hastily patchworked changed to a single-player game. Those inherent issues are things that cannot be fixed by patching, but only by throwing the game away outright and starting over, and doing it right.
I wonder if the effort to make Sims 4 less shallow also has something to do with the upcoming life sim game by Paradox. One of its directors used to be heavily involved with Sims 2 and Sims 3, even. If it turns out to be a flop, I would be glad to see other life simulation games other than the Sims, honestly. Maybe EA will actually put in more effort on Sims 5 now that there's potential competition, who knows. They have been trying to make The Sims 4 more in-depth. But it seems like they almost completely abandoned the Aspirations system. Many skills don't have aspirations linked to them. The aspirations that do exist are way too basic in the steps. The scenarios system should've been incorporated into it. Making aspirations closer to The Sims 2 storylines.
They then introduced Lifestyles. Which is just traits that unlock due to gameplay, with more negatives if you play the character opposite to their lifestyle. Which what traits should've been in the first place. I don't understand why they needed to slap a new system over the top. Some lifestyles are covered already by traits, like "Outdoorsy" So you are just double dipping.
Thirdly, they are supposed to be introducing new systems in the new expansion "Growing together" but it seems that it so heavily relies on the Parenthood and Base game, and changes the gameplay so much, that the system itself should've been a base game update. But EA gonna Jew.
The ps2 console games with the goal orientated game play was so fun. Original sims and bustin' out were the bestIt's a shame that the sims doesn't have the same variety that it had back when the console versions weren't trying to be a diet version of the pc games and there were handheld spinoffs that had a strange charm to them.
The mysims games were a blast, they were fairly childish but fun and cute. It's a shame that the sims doesn't have the same variety that it had back when the console versions weren't trying to be a diet version of the pc games and there were handheld spinoffs that had a strange charm to them.
I loved that the sims 2 for ps2 was so much different than the pc version, castaway on ps2 was fun too. I played the sims 2 life stories for the first time recently and enjoyed the story lines, they used to make so many fun sim games, or maybe that's just nostalgia, but it really felt like the devs were passionate about it back then. The ps2 console games with the goal orientated game play was so fun. I am hopeful about the paradox game since they did make a better city builder, they do like to go crazy with the dlc's like EA though, at least they are generally more reasonably priced. I don't think any of the new games are going to have that charm and humour of the early sims games though. They are all making games aimed at the younger population that is offended by everything. I wonder if EA is planning to try to make a new simcity ever again or have they given up after the complete failure of the last one.I wonder if the effort to make Sims 4 less shallow also has something to do with the upcoming life sim game by Paradox. Sims 2 is whacky in a really fun way, something that they just could not recapture in 3 and 4 tbh I cannot remember any of the households I played in 3, 2 has so much personality and memorable townies/pre-created households and storylines. What game in the series would you recommend to a noob? It seems to come down either 2 or 3. I tried 4 but it was pretty boring. Maybe I was doing it wrong but it felt like the sims had no personality.
The sims 2 has a lot of dedication put into the different towns and the backstories for the npc but the gameplay can be a bit brutal sometimes. What game in the series would you recommend to a noob? I haven't played Sims 1 in years - I'd be inclined to say it worked well within its limitations at the time, but probably doesn't hold up now. What game in the series would you recommend to a noob? Is this not toddlers pt.2?View attachment 4780396
NGL thought of checking here right when I saw this. With the things that have been posted here in the past, I am scared of seeing the nonce implications this will bring.
Personally I always found dealing with toddlers and newborns to be the most annoying thing in the Sims, your parent Sims basically became a slave to the toddler teaching them to walk and talk and caring for them that I couldn't find time to actually do anything fun with them lest their toddler become a fuck up.Is this not toddlers pt.2?
I thought the infants in Sims 4 were fine enough. Only so much a baby can do when they're that young: shit, eat, sleep. repeat.
thats kinda the problem sims players had with infants originally. they basically did nothing. they were objects till they hit the child stage until the toddler update, and they still did fuckin nothingIs this not toddlers pt.2?
