Business Google raises price of YouTube TV to $73 a month, blaming content costs - Jesus fuck. Who pays for this shit?

Google announced a price increase for its YouTube TV subscription on Thursday. It’s rising from $65 per month to $73 per month starting in April, according to an email sent to subscribers Thursday.
YouTube TV is Google’s cable replacement. It provides access to live TV and cable channels, delivered through an internet connection.

“As content costs have risen and we continue to invest in the quality of our service, we are updating our price to keep bringing you the best possible service,” the company said in the email to subscribers.

Google’s move to hike the price of its over-the-air subscription for cord cutters comes after several competing online streaming services have also raised the amount they charge, including services from Disney, Apple and HBO.

In December, YouTube TV secured rights to the NFL’s “Sunday Ticket” package, which will allow it to sell a bundle of out-of-market NFL games that don’t air on local TV to subscribers around the country.

YouTube will pay about $2 billion per year for the package, CNBC reported, which had several other bidders including Apple and Disney. Google hasn’t announced pricing for its “Sunday Ticket” bundle, but it cost $80 per month under its previous owner, DirecTV.

Google will also lower the price of an add-on to access higher-resolution 4K streams from $20 per month to $10 per month, according to the email.

It’s not bad if you’re sharing it between households. I think you can have up to 5 concurrent users or something like that. Personally, I’ll never pay for cable again because I hate ads and I have Jellyfin.

ReVanced

If you're still vanilla with youtube you've willingly taken the L
Vanced was amazing for the last few years. Since having to switch to ReVanced, my YouTube account that I've used for however many years is flagged on there and videos will often just infinity buffer after ten seconds or so. I created a new account and now it works but none of my recommendations are there anymore. Recommendations have been getting shittier in the past couple of years anyway so now I guess it's kind of good to start from scratch again.

At this point it feels like Youtube only exists because no other tube site is as large, not because Youtube's projects or unique content are good.
You're not that far off the mark. It costs a lot of money to host and maintain a video site hence why YouTube was able to become so big because it has Google money backing it. Other video sites like Vimeo and Dailymotion can't hope to compete with YouTube due to the costs associated with running the sites.

That's bizarre. I've had no problems with Revanced at all after several months - the thought that Google might try fucking with accounts that use it never even crossed my mind.

Tbh I'm shocked that Dailymotion still exists. Vimeo has always been pretty active but I don't really understand why anyone would use it unless they were banned from YouTube. I don't remember the last time I watched a video on either site though. I remember watching full episodes of tv shows on Dailymotion back in the day.

Other people have had the same issue as me. Sometimes my old account works normally but then stops working again. It seems to be Google fucking with the account. I've installed various versions of revanced and updated microg and all of that...still the same issues.

And no-one is paying for youtube especially when their content is sanitized TV garbage 9 times out of 10 because of the rampant censorship over the years.

It has been in a downward spiral and its not going to correct ever.

I mean if you REALLY want to feel like you're watching cable you could use pluto tv. Complete with niggers telling you between adverts that you should feel sorry for them because of 'microaggressions'. Hey, nigger. i just want to watch spongebob not hear about your nigger woes because a "police officer looked at you funny"

I noticed a lot of Boomers in here admitting they still pay for cable or watch sportsball and support big retarded sportsball niggers. Pathetic.

Anyway my usage of YouTube has kind of slowed down. All the channels I used to watch kind of slowed down on the content creation. Channels do that when they get big. I use adblock on my PC and have for years. I have been using Adblockers since the late 2000's when FireFox was the only browser that had them. I remember back then when it was one of the best reasons to use FireFox. If you did you could block all those annoying ads you would see on the internet. In those days YouTube wasn't so heavy with the ads yet. But the internet has always been full of ads. Even back in the early and mid 2000's.

It's fine as long as a PC was my main source for using YouTube. But when I started watching YouTube videos on phones years ago I went looking for away to block ads. You can use adblock with the android browser, but I don't like it. when Brave announced a browser with built in adblocking ability I went and installed it on my phone. I even have it on my PC right now along with FireFox. I keep multiple browsers on my PC. The only one I refuse to is Chrome. I won't let a Google product be installed on my PC. I had issues with Chrome in the past downloading things I didn't give it permission to download. That and fuck Google. But I installed Brave on my phone a few years back and haven't seen on ad on YouTube since. You can even use the dark theme while using the Brave browser now. There is really no point in using the YouTube app. I even watch Rumble videos and do regular internet browsing using the Brave browser on my phone.

I would never pay to use YouTube. I remember when they used to say YouTube Red would provide an ad free experience. I was like I already have an ad free experience now fuck off.

At this point? It's been that way since 2016, honestly. People have been saying what you've been saying for over 5 goddamn years.
I use Youtube every day

What the fuck is YoutubeTV?
Ever heard of YouTube Kids? No? That's because it's a pointless and unnecessary addition that was put in because parents are too damn stupid to look at what their children have been watching. YouTube has a lot of things like this, and it honestly feels like Google is actively trying to kill the platform half the time. I refuse to believe management is THAT stupid and unaware.

I already have the replacement for cable TV Youtube, it's called youtube.com with an adblocker.
Oh live sports? Literally google search it, there are streaming sites. I found a working one within ten minutes the last time I actually cared enough to watch a live broadcast of a sports game.
