This is old hat at this point, but I'm curious about his assault on the officer that got him in jail and made him a felon. From what I remember, he , didn't actually hit the (female) officer, right? He just drunkenly took a swing at her when she tried to wake him up? I know that it differs when it's a law enforcement officer, but if he didn't actually hit her, would there be a way for a lawyer to argue his innocence or at least walk it back down to a misdemeanor? I don't know the whole context - whether he swung because he was woken up from a drunken slumber and his immediate response was to thrash about or if he really wanted to hit a police officer. Also not too familiar with laws regarding this, I'm just curious about if legally there were any possible outcomes that could've occured that weren't a felony charge that landed him in jail.
