Undoubtedly, people have changed their behaviours in the past few decades towards buying more frivolities, but I wonder how much of this is from people having cameras on themselves constantly. Some of this looks fun, but I'd never video record myself having that fun; I'd rather keep it to myself. It's more special that way.

That reminds me of this recent story from Tim Hortons where there app had a so called glitch where it told people they won $10,000 in their new rollup the rim contest.

That angers me. We know a small business fucking up like that would have much less leeway, and fewer lawyers to fight anyone who complains. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these incidents weren't accidents, but free advertising.

the realm of general anime-consooming autism, would gacha game addiction be considered consoomerism? It's undeniably gambling, but I came across this post on the gacha gaming subreddit last night where people outlined their dedicated schedules to playing multiple (in the double digits, even) of these kind of games. I know the answer is probably yes, because these are literally money-sink png generators that could be shut down by the developers at any minute. There's not even a slim chance of resale like there is with Funkos.

Gacha is the absolute worse, but all of mobile is fucked. I downloaded pac man a week ago, rembering it from years ago. Not even the same game. Ads after every match, four baby bitch tutorial levels before the real game that all have ads, currency I have to buy- I just wanna chase ghosts bruh!

Chinese Tiktok even time limits based on age how long children can use the app. It's actually pretty wholesome from what I've read.

The games have already been preserved and distributed everywhere online. There was no point to this other than data hoarding.
I did find it funny listening to the recommendations near the end from "nerds" who are pretending they totally can't pirate any of these.

Buying all that shit on the Wii U for preservation seems like it might be a bad idea. The Nintendo discussion thread has talked about how the Wii U seems to have a short life span especially if you haven't played it in a while.

So, I guess no retro scene for Wii U then. Apparently not using the system kills it. One would think a console would die of overuse, not the opposite. Hopefully hackers fix the issue, otherwise Wii U is probably dead.

Taking bets now, which is going to be the last retro console with longevity: Wii or 3DS? In saying this, it is a little sad that the seventh gen and further is seemingly going to be inaccessible as the hardware was designed with too much happening to last.

It is something about the system needing to update profiles otherwise a memory issue occurs like @whatever I feel like said. I think it has the same sort of issue as something like the PS3 clock if I recall. Too many parts and data to keep track of, so the system ends up shitting itself eventually. It is why I proposed the question of Wii or 3DS as they seem to lack all the extra shit that gets corrupted and goes bad after years.
