King of the hill appreciation thread - Yup.

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
The jokes are obvious, often downright stupid. "Everyman, Texas who thinks Real America of John Wayne is still a thing learns about gay people and new agey things" like how is that funny after the billionth time..maybe in 1998 but its overplayed now.
Not to mention the animation is fucking horrible. It is weird as i like mike judges other stuff
So? What's wrong with liking something simple and wholesome?
Are you a high IQ Richard and Mortimer fan by any chance? Does the show need to be buried in fifty layers of meta joke for you to like it?

People can like what they want. It's just barely above poop jokes. I already said i liked Mike judges other work

I've rewatched the episode where Hank meets his new friend Hal, and that's another character he hasn't shown up since his sole appearance.

Seems appropriate for their characters. Both very pragmatic people, they reach a point in their friendship that they both get all they can from it and just never see each other again.

Weeb talk
maxing out your social link in persona and then never interact with that npc ever again because there's nothing else to get from it

It's also a case of extreme pragmatism. Notice that all of Hank's friends that he actually spends any real time with are his neighbors. Hal lived far enough away that they both had to drive to places to meet up instead of just being able to walk outside and hang out in the alley whenever they wanted.

Shit, even the football player who had moved in to Rainey street in the one episode had also lived closer to him. But then again, he turned out to be a pest by some neighbors, including Hank and Kahn.

I'm into the later seasons on my rewatch.

Yeah, I love Tom Petty, but I'm just not a fan of Lucky. There are worse characters, but he just seems so pointless and doesn't really add anything.

He's like the hick version of Daria's boyfriend from the last season of that show.
Lucky is sharper than a lot of viewers give him credit for.

"Uncle Hoyt were you in the state oil rig or the federal?"

Lucky's probably had enough ex-con family members that he knows how to spot them. I mean, this is a man who's grandpa was executed by the state for unspecified crimes. He probably heard Hoyt talking about using cigarettes as currency and that would be enough.

Lucky is more comparable to Kif from Futurama and Jeff from American Dad, where the respective characters, while weirded out at first, are still okay with being part of family as being perfect couple. Amy & Kif and Hayley & Jeff are, respectively, great couples and so too are Luanne and Lucky. Still, Lucky is not as good of a character as Kif or Jeff.

I think I would have liked the character of Lucky more if it wasn't for those damn BUCKED TEETH that made his appearance so displeasing to look at.

Also Tom Petty (RIP) was a legend but his delivery was very one note. I suspect he was hired because Mike Judge just loves hanging out with musicians and who can blame him that sounds like fun but I imagine he would have been better voiced with a pro like Toby Huss or any of the other crew.

I honestly don't mind his buck teeth appearance, but yea may Petty rest in peace. The fact that Judge hangs out with musicians is not a surprise, I mean this is also evident with the Beavis & Butthead days.

Dude, the fact that he called it out like a DBZ or D&D attack made it 10 times funnier.
And it's also a great Jojo stand name
