Resident Evil - Virgin Vampire Wine Mom vs Chad Magnetic Lebowski

I liked Mercenaries 3DS. The new map isn't great, and the rest of the game is a cut down version of the previous games, but it's fun enough if you like the mode,

Though it makes me wonder, what would you like to see more? A stand alone Mercenaries, or a new Outbreak?

Oh? I've not played the PC version since I had Win 7. Does it not work on Win 10?
i've put an ungodly amount of time into playing RE5 mercenaries that by the time i was moving on from it, i wanted the ability to choose loadouts to make certain characters suck a lot less (chris & sheva BSAA, for example). seeing mercenaries 3D come out with all kinds of spins on the winning formula, the knowledge that it would never arrive even on console soured me bitterly. i love RE5 mercenaries like you would not believe, and that's because RE5 has the right mix of intensity and the best graphics & animations of games 4, 5, and 6.

wouldn't matter to me none if i got a stand-alone mercs like that or it was part of a greater game. as long as it had a lot of people to play with online. RE8 mercs could've really benefited from an arena-style alongside a partner, and RE4 mercs, judging by the chapter 1 village battle, would be fuckin' epic in co-op.

never was into outbreak myself, but for people who are, i'm glad some nerds are running a private server that enables everyone to still play it online. it's never made sense to me that capcom has never re-released that game on any platform, merged file #1 and file #2, and just printed some quick cash for it.

as for RE5 not working on PC, i just don't know. i have a windows 8 PC that i played it on fine. but ever since buying a new pc a few years after the fact, which has windows 10... it just doesn't launch. i don't understand it. the game window pops up and instantly closes. not a single one of the community fixes work. capcom even pushed a patch this past february which i thought would have solved it... and it didn't. if anything, it broke the community fixes. you can find threads and posts all over the place complaining of what i've articulated. it's worth nothing that the original GFWL version for RE5 can be installed via the betas option on steam. that one actually launches, you get to the menu, but GFWL is so broken that if you click on any of its widgets the game freezes and the process needs to be terminated.

makes no sense.

What's strange is that Outbreak was essentially an online only game, and had dreadful load times unless you had the PS2 HDD. It would be perfect for consoles like the 360 and later that had online play built in and later hard drive installs.

Not tried it for a while myself, but I thought the steam version didn't need GFWL? It didn't when I played it.

I prefered Raid Mode in Revelations 2. The only problem is you have to complete the campaign to get all the stages (and the campaign sucks). I'd say Mercs 3DS only works as a handheld game, but then they could release it on Switch, so I have no idea.

They’re seriously not gonna let Ashley die during gameplay? RE4 was only like the third video game I had ever played (played Mario Sunshine and Smash Bros Melee first) and even as a dumbass kid I never complained about the fact that Ashley could be killed. Granted that was partly because I was the one killing her the most, but come the fuck on. This remake has no confidence and no soul.

But what does "Ashley dying" means? I think she still has a health bar.
Someone on /v/ said instead of dying instantly when her health is depleted she now goes into a down state and you need to revive her with a button prompt like followers in Bethesda games now but its /v/ so take that with a grain of salt.

Also the U3 boss fight was like 80% QTE's. I personally liked that fight but given the removal of QTEs I can understand why it was cut.

U3 is entirely QTEs in the cargo container but the actual boss fight isn't any different than anything else in the game. In my recent playthrough, it was the only boss fight I died a few times on.

I hope if this is true that it only happens in the normal or below difficulty. Ashley dying should still be a fail state on professional at least.

leaks have shown loading screen tips that say outright Ashley will die if attacked while downed with no specification of difficulties - assisted mode could probably apply some game journalist modifiers though, but that's pure speculation. it remains to be seen how annoying this could be. she can still be carted off, too. it is, however, unknown if Leon can still attack her.

unrelated, i'm a bit peeved that the 'break free' from grapples mechanic is artificially limited. you definitely don't want it set to "hold F to get out", because you're practically guaranteed to get fucked by that, so you want 'tap repeatedly' to escape. the meter only fills up so fast, and i confirmed this because i bound two keys to breaking out, F and G, and you can actually see how it only registers a button press every X milliseconds. so, even with mashing two buttons, which imho should lead to double the speed of breaking out, there's no change at all. sad!

What interests me is that the original is about ten hours which is pretty standard for RE but several reviews are saying 15-20 for the remake.

What the heck did they do to almost double the length of the campaign?

Especially since Separate Ways and mercenaries were cut.

No fucking way is this going to be a 15-20 hour game. The last two remakes are 2-3 hours and can be coasted in under an hour after routing.

This will be three-four hours max until it's routed.

merchant side objectives, for starters. there's also a lot of need to go back to old areas with various keys to unlock shit for various treasures, like the locked drawers. they're using the one-use small keys from RE1 for that, that Chris had to use. it could also be longer in general due to enlarged areas, movement speed, difficulty barriers, etc.

the 'Sprinter' challenge for RE4make is to beat the game in under 8 hours. that tells me this is going to be long. other Sprinter achievements in previous games ranged from 2-4 hours.

You're looking at this in the context of the left of the Bell curve average modern gamer. There hasn't been a single player campaign from Crapcom in this series that was that lengthy since RE6. Both RE4-5 can be beaten under two hours.

With everything that has been shown to be cut, I don't know why you would even be that optimistic on it's length.

i'm optimistic because that pic that was posted two pages back by Blue Velvet is largely a list of ragebait bullet points created by a schizo on /v/ and i've seen a lot of the game already through some hour-long uploads before the relevant channel got nuked. this is going to be a tough game to dash through on a fresh, non-NG+ save. i was only able to skim through 5-6 hours of the gameplay and he still hadn't fought Mendez, and he only died a couple times.

>using a /v/ leaker as a fucking benchmark
Nigger, every single fucking leaker on /v/ has shown time and time again they are valve testers levels of retarded

let me clarify. i have seen with my own eyes that this game is not a borderline fraudulent, outsourced bait & switch that RE3make was, from what i've seen in leaked videos uploaded to youtube, tiktok, catbox.moe and streamable. a lot of the things that were altered/cut were already altered/cut in previous ports (for instance, the fucking ballistic quip, flirty dialogue and other SJW mental illness triggers) and then there's shit like "no tram ride to mendez" which imho is just splitting hairs if not completely irrelevant like "killing merchant", "PRL gun"... like yeah, it's not a perfectly flawless 1:1 remake and yeah, capcom said "we cut nothing" and then you see those small but ultimately benign elements cut, yeah, you can get mad at them. but this industry's already surrendered to the mindless consoomer and nobody will take any game dev to task for fucking anything. even if they've stolen breast milk from pregnant coworkers and driven female interns to suicide after sexually assaulting them.

also just as a personal aside regarding the tram: we lose the tram ride and Ashley giving the silent cheerleading fist pump for three odd minutes, but we gain an overhauled shooting gallery where she sits back on a barrel and cheerleads while you win prizes and shit. i'm okay with that exchange.

novistadors are in the game. verdugo is in the game. separate ways will be a later DLC, so while it's cut from the launch (when DOESN'T this shit happen anymore, honestly?) the U3 boss could still appear in Ada's mode so i don't care to argue one way or the other on it until the game is considered complete. "robot enemies", nobody knows, because nobody has shown full Krauser boss battle or the lead up to it. the rest of the shit on there we'll have to see for ourselves.
