I've been pretty much over R&M for at least the last couple seasons because the jokes were getting stale for me and it seemed like it was literally the only show Adult Swim was promoting (also they canceled The Venture Bros. but they greenlit ten fucking seasons of R&M), but I can't for the life of me picture the show without Roiland's involvement. I know that as soon as the DV allegations came out, all of a sudden there were anonymous reports out the wazoo about how he doesn't actually do anything on the show aside from voice acting, but that always reeked as damage control to me ("don't worry that we're kicking out the showrunner, it'll still be good!"). Any tiny amount of interest I still had in the show is basically gone if he's not there.

If Adult Swim doesn't take him back, they have an easy out for replacing him. Since the multiverse is a major part of the show's canon, they can literally just replace him with Rick and Morty from Universe #281-Q That Sound Different From All the Rest Somehow and then never bring it up again. It won't be good, but it's an excuse.
