Fact is, people will always naturally defend people that are guilty of their own crimes, it's a way to assuage their own guilt. So when one fat useless retard sees another fat useless retard getting harassed (even if it's because of his own actions) or doxxed (even if it's because he's retarded and has bad OPSEC) or swatted (which let's face it, PattyRick Thomasson is doing to himself) they're just predisposed to jumping in and protecting that person.

Shane is no doubt fat as fuck, a useless leech, and is married to/dating a woman that's even fatter than Nikki. So when he sees Patrick he sees a compatriot. They're both useless fat leeches that have managed to bag women that are just as disgusting as they are. They're both hanging on to a failed career in the hopes it'll mean something. They're both incapable of just ignoring the trolls and moving on with their lives. Also they're both FAAAAAAT.

To sum it up: In Patrick, Shane sees a kindred soul. They're both useless failed men that somehow found women (disgusting though they may be) that will tolerate their failures. They're both Internet Tough Guys that will "Never Let The Idiots Win." And now they're both targets of the OnA forums, which will harass them until the sun dies out or they get boring, whichever comes first.
