Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Mental Outlaw put out a video on it. He pretty much covers the basics and things I've mentioned previously lately, but I'll add, if you trash a computer, always destroy the hard drives physically as it's super easy to pull the browser files and more off a drive when you have access to the physical drive. It's not even about your account on here or whatever, it's about all your banking information that any amateur dumpster diver can get.

Just a reminder that LTT lost all of their data not once, but twice, before this. They don't keep backups, which is basically tech 101.
So this doesn't surprise me in the least. They are a CONSOOMER tech channel only, of course they don't know shit about enterprise IT.
Even consumers back up shit these days, how retarded can you be to not make some copies on external drives just in case?

He isn't a tech YouTuber. He's a digital marketing tool.
He's also a serial killer of cats.
those are literally not things you can pin on Linus wtf? The first cat ran away. That's a thing some cats just do even if they don't hate you. If they see something they wanna chase they run and you may or may not see them again nothing you can do about it.

The Second one literally wasn't even him but you'd know that had you actually read the source you posted.
Tell me you are a shitty pet owner without telling me. 1 cat lost 1 cat dead in a dryer but it isn't the owner's fault because you are his fanboy.

For Firefox go to about:config and set pdfjs.enableScripting to false (possibly enableXfa too, but I don't know enough about xfa to comment).
The scripts run in a sandboxed environment, but putting your trust in that alone is foolish.
I try to sandbox my firefox the most that I can, I use strict mode, containerize google, fb, twitter and MS. Would the script works on my FF?

Just disable it, you almost never need any sort of script in PDFs nowadays unless you're a retarded business in which case open those PDFs only on your retarded business computers.

External drives would be retarded for him to use. That said, his previous backup attempts were done in the most retarded way possible so any backup that is usable would be better.
Their backup practices were unironically better back when they were in the house and just had piles of loose hard drives stacked on top of the toilet in the bathroom that they were using as a server room

He'd be better off with an in house server that has a physical cut off, but you can use external drives to hand out to the different employees and just just put them in storage once full. It's inefficient, but it's an option some people use and better than nothing.

Why would he post such personal videos on his company YouTube channel unlisted, lol.

He will exploit anything and anyone if there is a dollar to be made. It's his ASD and personality disorder issues. His entire "persona" and "quirks" are just his underlying mental health problems coming to the front when he goes off his meds. Literally does not understand boundaries, so his wife is there as a fulltime babysitter to prevent another scandal.

Wait a few years and he'll probably end up making as good a human owner as he has been a pet owner.

What Aidan said, basically.
Exploits to escape a sandbox are possible, so if you really must open such a PDF then I would only do so using a portable browser with no stored data; ideally from inside of a VM for maximum safety.
Also, you could and likely should run the PDF through VirusTotal first. It should catch most malicious ones unless they use custom made zero-days.

As far as I know, almost everything they deal with is networked on a single server and he insists that's how everyone works, even the video editors. Inefficiency is the Linus way.

Good call, I'm ashamed for not mentioning this. I do this with any PDF I get. It's not fullproof but it's pretty good and fast.
