The above seems to be directed at people he's known for 20 years and then his whole life. Sounds like family, and maybe Nick did care somewhat, but his sexual priorities of being a "horny, happy, motherfucker" obviously won out and Nick took Kayla with him (which was, evidently, not at all hard to do).

It remains curious as to what "someone" did (and when) to make Memorial Day weekend the worst day of his life and why it was July 3rd that would be the new worst day (and not the wedding on June 18th when they could have been around the in-laws).

Given how Nick has been acting out, it seems to be related to sexual matters given the context of his coomer arc (restraints were off in his "personal life" and Nick assumed his internet audience would be up for the sexy ride). If the in-laws are indeed the ones who caused Nick and Kayla trouble, it would stand to reason that they caught wind of something(s) in Nick and Kayla's marriage they didn't like and confronted them. As to how and what they found out, who can say. Which is too bad, since the cause is more interesting to me than the blowup itself.

Now let me dump some additional info.

This article has a roundup of marriage licenses issued in Kandiyohi County in May 2022 and I'm flagging it up because someone with Kayla's maiden name got remarried around that time:

I believe he may be a biological or foster brother. Seems like her parents fostered more than one kid, her mother has a few pictures with Matthew Woltjer on her FB page. It would seem that her parents are very religious and appear to be good people.

I can confirm that they got married at this church.


This was the church that Nick & Kayla attended prior to the "current" one they attend which is closer to their house. Since covid, they may have quit going all together. My assumption is that this is the church that her parents attend.

I don't know that most churches would do this. The way I could see him being admonished would be if Kayla, Nick, or another family member went to the pastor directly for counseling, which could involve getting Kayla and Nick together to talk about problems with their marriage. It would be gentle, in all likelihood, but Nick would find it embarrassing, and if his family knew about it, that would double the embarrassment. But I don't think most mainline/Protestant churches are set up for confession/admonishment in the way Catholics are. Getting kicked out is not something that happens unless you are in church leadership or a teacher, as others have noted. But does he teach Sunday school?

I think it's possible they both did induce public meltdowns as if they were getting some great truth off their chest, and when the backlash was maybe greater than they anticipated, they shrugged and said they were better off with an audience of people who "got" them. It seems that there were events with the in-laws around two of the days that Nick indicated were important in his personal struggles: the family dinner flagged up by @footballteam, and a wedding the day after Nick cancelled a show, saying he had to "deal with some of this stuff".

I could see attendance at these events being a way to smooth things over and try to put on a unified Rekieta front. Maybe some extended family members were talking about his channel and he needed to schmooze with them to make it clear there were no problems.

Perhaps there was some petty bpd drama between our wife and her brother/cousins new wife that caused the rest of the family to tell them to stop acting like fucking retards. An even more funny and probably much less likely reason could be that our wife and balldo man tried to pull some swinger shit at the wedding and got thrown out in disgust.
