It's possible that someone with mid-stage dementia could, but probably only on the earlier end of the mid-stage spectrum. It's possible she's lucid, it's possible she has mild dementia, it's possible she's on the cusp of early and mid. I don't think it's possible for her condition to be anything beyond that.

Possible, though I don't know if there's any evidence of that. Sundowning isn't something most people with dementia experience (around 20 percent) and there's quite a few amongst that 20 who don't really have any changes in lucidity, they just become more irritable and difficult because they're tired.

But nah, even accounting for sundowning, someone in late dementia couldn't give proper directions. Early stages sure, middle maybe but probably only early-middle, but it's impossible for Barb to be the severely demented vegetable the lolcow community assumes her to be. It's possible she's fairly early in a process that will grow worse in the years ahead and that in a few years she will be what the lolcow community has always portrayed her as, but that's not what she is right now.
