Is your computer or monitor on carpet? If I get up from my chair too fast the static will trip something and my monitors turn off. I have to get up really slowly to avoid it. I used to think it was a random issue but then I noticed it only happens when I move a bunch. It happens even though my system is plugged into a battery so I assume the static is getting in thru a usb cord. Might be your issue.

This just made me think about my problem some more. My computer was elevated, but I wonder if the static from the blanket was traveling along my fabric-y headphone cord. The blanket was never anywhere near the tower, so I never worked out why it was the problem, only that it was the problem. Mystery (maybe) solved! Thanks!

i have updated my mobo from August/22 to March/23, then I updated my Nvidia driver, then the Nvidia UEFI, then that somehow blacksceened and my video driver failed to work because my computer clock somehow got set to November 25th, then I fixed that and now it's all working. I'll report back if I still get black screened.

The computer is grounded, it doesn’t matter what *it* is sitting on.
However, *you* moving around can generate a static charge, and then when you touch something that’s plugged in to the computer it can discharge through the mobo and cause a crash or a reset, it’s called ESD and everything is supposed to be tested against it but ya know.

Examples of generating static include: plastic chair castors on nylon carpet. Certain types of shoes on carpet. You wearing polyester clothes, especially two layers of synthetics.

Try to observe when the crash happens, if you just touched something and felt a static shock then that was definitely it.

Flashed new mobo firmware, updated the nvidia driver, and the nvidia uefi firmware. After about an hour or two with Docker running it hard rebooted mid-use.

I would like to add: use the Windows Event Viewer to see if there are any error codes around the time your computer crashed.

There should be at least 1 red Error event that happened right at the time of your crash today. Should at least give you a hint as to what is causing your crashes.

I was about to suggest the same. I had some issues where hibernate wouldn't restore the previous session but instead reboot which drove me crazy.. tried power settings and everything else suggested but nothing changed. Then I finally took a look at the event viewer, which logged some sort of kernel power error, some cables replugged and cleaned, mystery solved.
Didn't even know event viewer was a thing up to that point.
