Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

It amazes me how brain dead these people could get. Even a preschooler could easily overtake a parked van in a low traffic road.

/r/notjustbikes user thinks that their Apple Watch asking if they're working out is proof that it was designed by "carbrains":

No, it's because despite using the "gym of life", you're actually incredibly out-of-shape.
Apple said:
Every full minute of movement that equals or exceeds the intensity of a brisk walk counts toward your daily Exercise and Move goals. With Apple Watch Series 3 or later, your cardio fitness levels are used to determine what is brisk for you.

OP has very low fitness and his heart rate greatly increases while walking. If he was fit, walking at normal speed would not trigger a workout alert.

They also got triggered when someone pointed out that if you want to be actually fit you have to do intensive exercise:

At least someone pointed out that you can't outrun the fork:

"I have no idea how to get past a parked vehicle"
I hate these retards' feigned stupidity. For example, here's a picture of a random two-way street in Dublin:
OH LORD I CAN'T PASS.png
There's only enough space for one car to pass at a time for a good length of the road, and cars are even (illegally) parked on the footpath. How on earth do drivers and pedestrians alike ever navigate this deathtrap? The answer may shock you.
By not being gigantic pearl clutching faggots and going about their days as usual.

I wonder what these people's other opinions are...

Ah, pod-lovers.
Drew DeVault is a cow in his own right. He's been featured on here many times before:

I never understood why urbanists pushed this "gym of life" concept. Fitness and exercise are already plagued by "bro science" and retarded just-so One Weird Trick theories like diet fads, and now you're going to barge in and say "ackshually, all you need to do is sell your car to get fit" and see nothing wrong with that?

I've been wanting to make a thread about people who constantly create problems on the road or make problems worse just so they can get that clout and victimhood on social media. It would include people like TV presenter and cyclist Jeremy Vine and "motovlogger" motorcyclists who make fools of themselves in public.

This guy is literally too stupid to realize you can just walk over lines painted on the road. Straight out of that episode of Spongebob with the sea bear.

But seriously, this dude legitimately went out of his way to stop, pull out his phone, take that picture, and then type out his oh so clever tweet, mention Amazon, and act like he's somehow a victim in this situation. You're on a bicycle! Just look first and then go around the van you stupid fuck!

could just go on the empty boardwalk on the left and pass the van there, takes like 5 seconds and you don't even have to bother with watching out for traffic that way. also no pedestrians around so don't have to be careful about it either.

Hey that Amazon van is making a very important delivery to Greggs.

Don't forget about people who can't navigate anywhere without using a GPS. No one uses logical reasoning and triangulation to navigate anymore. I look up general direction ahead of time when I'm going somewhere new and then triangulate the exact spot based on logic.

Not to mention half the GPS directions are always giving you 15 steps to leave the suburb / neighbourhood that you live in.

The elites don't want you to know this but the painted lines on roads and pathways are free, you can cross them at any time. I have done this 365 days of every year and I have not paid a penny in fines for this. Sometimes I even tell my family and friends as to cross the road lines.

The one thing I agree with traffic troons is that zoning is pretty gay, it's your property one ought to be free to dispose of it how they please, now that they've in all likelihood abandoned that, it seems they've devolved into 100% unserious ass clowns.

Zoning has its benefits and its drawbacks, and can be implemented badly in any case. The takeaway here is that it's not some universally negative thing that they make it out to be, and that there are some very real concerns that led to be implemented in the first place.

I believe Jason once said something like "American cities are designed wrong, there's no debate", but clearly there is a debate and that zoning isn't inherently a bad thing...but again, they won't admit that perhaps they are the ones who are wrong.
Are you British by any chance?
I caught this post before you added the second part, I negrated it and was going to write a long screed implying that you were one of the "free speech must include child porn or you're a traitorous cuck" type person but was just about to go to bed and never got around to it. Now that you've actually elaborated, I'm not saying that Marohn needs to go to jail for daring to speak on a subject he has no formal experience (and if that's what you got from me I have no idea what to tell you), it's that he's used that to further his career. For another example, the Stolen Valor Act of 2005 was struck down by the courts completely because it contained no provision of severability. The Stolen Valor Act of 2013 built to replace it was that fraudulent claims of military service "with intent to obtain money, property, or other tangible benefit", and that's where the case of Marohn gets sticky. While he's not violating the SVA, you could make the argument that he's falsely represents/representing someone he wasn't, and used that to further his career, on the other hand he WAS a former licensed engineer and didn't explicitly claim to be a civil engineer. I guess my answer would be that he's technically within his 1A rights but he's also a deceptive scumbag and I would personally never go to bat for him.

Either way, as it stands, no one is threatening Marohn with jail time and multi-million dollar lawsuits, he just has to pay a small fine ($1,500 is small peanuts for him, I'd imagine) and edit a few things on his webpage.

It comes into the question of how easy is to get food. If "carbrains" are so fat and lazy, why would they choose to live so far away from the nearest McDonald's, while the cool and fit "urbanist" could just waddle down to the nearest bodega a block away and fuel up on junk food?

Another unaware self-own from the geniuses at /r/notjustbikes.
Carbrains are stupid for having hour long commutes stuck in traffic. Enlightened Europeans enjoy their hour long walking+transit commutes and if you think that is unreasonably long, you're just a dumb American:
1679777956428.png
OP is likely American because they call intercity buses "greyhound buses", which makes their opinions about Europe even stranger.

This woman doesn't want to spend 30+ minutes a day just to get to/from the train station because she's been traumatized by Los Angeles' stroads:

1679778036218.png
1679778237289.png
1679778309020.png
What happened to "15 minute cities"? Why are they justifying spending an enormous amount of time in transit? These people don't care about any of the supposed benefits of a "walkable" city, they just hate cars, roads, and houses.

Traffic calming causes chaos in Vancouver, and twitter users (including trannies and genderspecials) are dunking on the driver as well as anyone who dares criticise the barriers. The War On Cars podcast is tagged.

This should prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that "engineers murdering pedestrians" is just a fig leaf from the urbanist crowd. Whenever a drunk driver hits and kills people, apparently it's the engineers' fault and they should be sued for gross negligence. But when a driver crashes into these barriers, suddenly it's now solely the driver's fault for doing it and the engineers don't have to care at all. Urbanists get to have it both ways - heads I win, tails you lose.

You can't make this shit up. :story: Maybe they need to appeal to zoomers who watch his videos.
Are they even right about Mr. Beast? I'd imagine he's not retarded enough to just leave the winner on the hook for taxes and maintenance. Seems like another cheap dig because people nowadays hate Mr. Beast for helping blind people.

That car clearly reversed onto the barrier.

It's a cheap, lazy solution to the problem. If they wanted to actually implement traffic calming measures, they'd redesign the pavement to make the road narrower and properly signpost it, which would mean that someone reversing around the corner wouldn't folow the line of the pavement straight onto what is very obviously a temporary barrier.

Yes, it's a bit of a cow crossover, as Korpspropaganda, aka Karen, aka Dave, has a thread about his personal clique of twitter furry troons. He's honestly not even the main attraction in his own thread, it's just a furry coomer sideshow based on queer furry supervillains who want to take over the world, overthrow capitalism, and mind control everyone with cyber goggles or something. You'd have to read it to get the gist, it's really stupid and bizarre.

But on the topic of this thread, Korpspropaganda is definitely a bit of an armchair urbanist himself, and he's occasionally sperged about city planning and whatnot on his main account. Not really a major player in this scene, just some overlap due to similar politics I guess.

Actually it wasn't his main that most of his urbanism sperging was confined to, I remember now he made an entire separate twitter account dedicated account to that topic, along with City Skylines autism (naturally, that game being a favorite among these types of people, as it lets them pretend to be city planning experts from the confines of a videogame designed for entertainment purposes only without actually having to interact with the messy and complicated real world.

I could probably dig up a good few bits of juicy autism from that account alone, but it's not all that active and it might be out of date, and I just can't be arsed tonight. Nevertheless, thought I'd add more context I went back and found, the appearance of another cow I'm more familiar with in this thread intrigued me.

Went ahead and saved you the trouble. Honestly not a whole lot worth talking about. The majority of the posts are just them talking about their builds on Cities Skylines and occasionally sperging about Toronto's infrastructure. None of the takes are anything particularly funny or interesting, it's just more run-of-the-mill urbanist autism that I'm sure we're all familiar with by now:

For me the most notable thing about these posts is how old some of them are. The discourse around this topic really hasn't changed much in 5 years, and it's sort of interesting that this dude was posting about this before the recent wave of NJB and r/fuckcars cucks came about.
