Diseased Rowling Derangement Syndrome - "TERF/Woke Author Bad!!1"

Off topic but I cannot believe how boring that cover is. I don't think any others are as dull as that sad attempt that looks like it came out of MS Paint.

I know not judging a book by its cover is a thing for a reason but the utter lack of personality to the books she's brandishing horrifies me as someone who's only got the Kirby covers.
I was looking at picking up some of the Discworld books, I don't really care about the covers all that much but I do agree those older covers kick ass. I think that minimalist covers are in right now and that's why you see them on so many books.

Introducing Tess Hall, an Aussie Karen described by local news (archive) as a well-known North Coast based film director and producer, despite her having a mere one credit to her name (archive), and everything else she's done being adverts and segments for local news, which she couldn't even make without a man (or several) to help her. Tess's previous claim to fame has been running a NIMBY group to protest the filming of a Netflix reality show, Byron Baes, in her local area. Her personal website (archive) was the 6th result when I googled tess hall director.

More recently, a video has gone viral of her burning a Harry Potter book.

[Some gibberish Abo greeting] Just been reflecting on some of this hate that we've been seeing of late. And I think, um, it's just really important if we're gonna return to this kind of time where hate is emboldened and people march in the street, uh, against the existence of others, and um - we've got Christofascist cookers, uhh, pulling LGBTQ books out of school libraries and off the shelves of K-Mart - I thought, um, maybe it would be a good time to remind everyone, if we're gonna be in the business of book burning, let's make sure we're burning the right books.

Of course book burning is a somewhat inflammatory gesture, one not to be encouraged. I understand that the writer of this book is worshipped by many trans-exclusionary radical fascists. This dangerous tome authored by an obsessed bigot, who needs a new hobby, is in homes all over the world. The burning question is, "Won't somebody think of the children?" What will come of their exposure to the dangerous ideas espoused by right-wing nutjobs? If parents are allowed to spew vile identity-based hate, one has to wonder: is the harm kids face really the mere existence of non-het, non-cis people? Or is it in the rhetoric they are subjected to in their own homes and places of worship?

While the media fans the flames of non-issues abous trans people playing sport and which toilet people piss in to flog newspaper subscriptions, and boost pitiful ratings, it's pretty clear that driving people towards religious institutions obsessed by covering up abuse perpetrated by evil men in dresses is a bad idea. As the far-left baits the far-right to march in the streets, all that is achieved is effective recruitment and radicalisation of transphobic thugs. We, the people, can and must choose to reject manufactured culture wars being exported by the UK and the US.

So, to the Christofascists, to the J.K. Rowlings, to the K.J. KKKs and the Katherine Deves of this world, I say this: we are here, we are queer, we are gender-diverse. And whilst we didn't start the fire of hate and vilification you fuel, we will sure as hell extinguish it through love and acceptance of all.

In the video, she says that she doesn't approve of book burnings, but compares it to the banning of books in children's libraries and the retailer K-Mart, implying this is something of an eye-for-an-eye type situation.

For what it's worth, I have not been able to find any sources that even vaguely hint at K-Mart banning queer books. But I did find out about them banning words like “God”, “church”, “Jesus”, “Jewish” and “bible” in their photo booths (archive), and refusing to celebrate Australia Day in order to be inclusive to all (archive).

Regardless, she derides the current controversy around trans people in women's sports and bathrooms as non-issues imported from the US and UK to sell more papers. And while she doesn't say where or when the transgender fad began, it has presumably been a thing in Australia since before the first Abos arrived. And it's only been a controversy once since became were opposed to the mere existence of non-het, non-cis, people.

Remember, queers: it's only a culture war when the other side does it.

The problem isn't even that they're minimalist. It's that they're shitty low-effort minimalist and wrong for the genre.

These may not be to everyones personal taste but they are more on the mark for leaning minimalist while also conveying genre:

I'll concede some of the AC covers are less minimal than others.

This American Psycho cover is probably my favorite.

Anything with any fantastical elements requires a more intricate cover in general. I think Hobb's covers here are about as minimalist you can get away with unless you're going straight up symbol+fancyfont.

I still need to see them post sources on how JKR is funding anti-trans healthcare legislation. She supports a woman-only shelter and wants men out of women spaces such as prisons, but healthcare? Pretty sure they made it up.

I also read an incredibly stupid take on some gaming website that churns out a billion articles on Hogwarts Legacy along the lines of how the devs "successfully distanced themselves from JKR's hateful views, so we can now admit this game did well and is fun to play".

Always remember whenever you see something like this; they had to buy that book.
Unlikely. Bloomsbury stopped selling that cover design in 2014, so it was probably just an old copy she had lying around.

I checked. According to Pink News (archive), she is against transing kids, which is one of the easier things to be against. As for whether she has directly funded legislation to that effect, the closest thing I could find is Alison Bailey's legal fund (archive), the co-founder of LGB Alliance who sued her employer and Stonewall for disciplinary action against gender-critical beliefs. LGB Alliance might be seen to have some influence over public policy, is against transing children, and supports therapeutic solutions to gender dysphoria, which the trannies deride as conversion therapy.

She's still burning her own property and doing absolutely nothing of value.
The advent of mass printing changed the impact of book burning a fair bit. Back when books were rare and unique, burning a book was utterly destructive. Even in the 30s, when printing was industrialised, the process was was still slow enough, and the runs short enough, that it was possible to destroy most of a print run and effectively remove it from circulation. Now it's mostly symbolic, with the symbolism being largely an expression of just how petty the burner is.

I've got all the Kirby ones. But I've also got these. I started and I couldn't stop. I feel they show the essence whilst keeping things simple as well. Bonus points for Binky.
Got that old 70s woodcut feel to them. I like it.

Its funny, these are the same people judged and mocked boomers for banning Harry Potter books back in the day because of that pesky "witchcraft". Now these same people are burning the books because of that pesky "transphobia". The thing in common between both is that they are full of shit and insanity

They are the proof of the horseshoe theory

Some novelist believes Rowling is some sort of crypto holocaust denier because she doesn't believe humans can change sex.

Bold play from this nut bag. Because usually only pennyless leftists push the libel button. Because they know they don't have shit to take. If Rowling sees this i bet another C&D and retraction tweet coming.

Fucking WHO?

I swear to God, they think they published a short story once 5 years ago and it got praised by some dickless journalist and suddenly they think they are famous and their opinions mean more.

You bring up a good point, JK could (and honestly, should) sue some of these louder fuckheads for spreading lies about her. She needs to pull a Kyle Rittenhouse and sue the people that shamelessly lied with no evidence.

I know someone may say that she doesnt need to, she is rich as fuck, why should she care? And that this may make the eternally online retards reee louder but, get this, if she wins, that sends the message across that you wont get away with straight up lies about someone's character just because you are preaching the current thing right now. You are still a cunt commiting libel and you will be treated as such.

Introduce some actual consequences to them, since they love them towards their enemies but despite it when it comes for them.

This is why its impossible to reason with them because you are basically dealing with crazy people. If you dare to question him about it, eventually he will start accusing YOU of the same.

Social media both exposed people's hidden insanities while also making it worse for the whole world.

Been listening to that new Rowling interview podcast series and I swear she doesn't even bring into question >WHAT IS A WOMAN even once. She's an abuse survivor and want to protect women in all-women spaces. She has read thousands of pages of trans activism and entertain dialogue, yet trannies know only "trans rights" and violently disrupt spaces of discourse.

Like, Rowling has read more and care more about trans people than your average he-dyke and that's why they fear her. She's not saying "all lives matter", but "white lives matter too" and it cause the same controversy. All-female shelters, one of the few places women can be truly safe, to be full of men who get stiff at the thought of wearing stockings?

Most ironic of it all is that her haters are ex-potterheads. For once in their fucking lives it's not community tourism, such as when a new game emerges, they appear and cause a stink, only to leave once the "issue" is fixed and there is no longer any interest in it. Potter? oh boy, the one thing they grew up with, surely that has to be divine and treated properly!

Like fuck off. People had no issues with Ching Chong til after the movies concluded and she tweeted things.
