Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

some sky islands (which are probably the replacement shrines and no actual dungeons)
Can you imagine if they're just more of those copy pasted shrines and not proper dungeons? This is like a Super Mario Bros 2 (JP) situation, a nearly identical game that's more like a mod.

Hey can someone name First Person RPGs for the Switch? Its a genre I used to love back in the DOS days and I'm wanting at least one I can take on the go.

Only one I actually own is Drawngeon: Dungeons of Ink and Paper, which was okay.

I've heard there's more.

You miiiiight like this:

Be warned, Etrian Odyssey is hopelessly autistic. I think the new version also has an auto-mapping system. Turn that shit off if you can. Back on the DS you drew the maps yourself. And then beyond that it's pretty standard JRPG stuff but with a pretty high difficulty. Your party can be wiped on the very first encounter if you are fucking around... because the game is not fucking around.

Good games! I really liked the third one. The ocean exploration was cool.

Not sure why everyone is surprised about Nintendo phoning it in, they did the same thing with Animal Crossing.
and Metroid Dread.

EDIT: How was Mario Odyssey? I never played it because, well, I hadn't really been interested in Mario 3D platformers since the Nintendo 64 days. I know the entire rest of the internet says its good... but those guys also sucked the dick of Breath of the Wild (which was good but not great) and Metroid Dread (which was utter balls on the dick) as well, so I don't trust the internet. I honestly tend to just immediately think "Nintendo Fanboy." KF is the only place whose opinions I trust.

Nobody makes a 3rd party N64 controller for the Switch yet?
I have looked but not found anything too compelling. There are also adapters which allow you to plug original controllers in. However both seem to have button mapping issues. I'm sure there is something out there that I have overlooked though.

Managed to get my controllers finally.

I'd like one too, but not nearly enough to go through the whole niggamarole of checking hundreds of times for months on end
For what it's worth, I made the controller page my homepage so it was just a matter of it showing up. But Nintendo's restocking patterns are pretty fucked.

@skykiii Mario Odyssey is fucking awesome. So are those other games that Nintendo "phoned in"... you guys are impossibly obtuse.

As pointed above, Nintendo didn't develop it but calling MD phoned in is dumb.
Fine, I'll just call it heavily botched instead.

Seriously, Metroid should've just ended after Super. After that it felt like Nintendo (or the people they outsource the games to) never really understood the genre Metroid helped invent, insisting on either being really linear or story-driven and often having stories that felt like somebody's bad fanfic got turned into a game.

Dread just had mechanical issues on top of that. Full stop, a side-scrolling 2D game should never force you to move using the analog stick... and that's just the beginning of the issues....

Literally the only way they could have done the free aim while moving
Also the generic switch doesnt have a dpad

It's a very unpopular opinion, but I agree that Dread was messy and way overhyped, probably because people want more Metroid games. The 3ds one I hated, and Dread was just more of that. I didn't like Fusion, Zero Mission was decent though. Super felt like the perfected version of the formula, but after seeing everything after, it feels like it was accidental or through hardware limitations or something that its the way it is.

The Prime series was better, Prime 1 was messy in the second half with randomly going across the entire map for 1 item back and forth, but Prime 2 is on par with Super for me, it has a few rough spots but overall its great. Prime 3 I pretend didn't happen, its just wannabe Halo

but seriously who uses the stock joycons anyway?
The same fools that buy entire new joycons when the stick starts to drift instead of 5 bucks on some new sticks and spending the 20 minutes to swap them out

I assume you mean dungeon crawlers and I know there is a bunch of them on Switch:
Labyrinth of Refrain and its sequel Labyrinth of Galleria
Strangers of Sword City (bundled with Savior of Sapphire Wings)
Vaporum
Demon Gaze
Mary Skelter 2 (which has the first game bundled)
and as pointed out earlier, there is the Etrian Odyssey trilogy coming out this June.

The Keep is a pretty good real time Dungeon Master/Eye of the Beholder type but I can't vouch for the Switch port. Phantasy Star kind of qualifies.

probably could start here and walk the "users also liked" links: https://www.dekudeals.com/items/vaporum

Random retro mecha game got an remaster

Probably GOTY because M2 are heroes although I cbf to check it out now. Fans of this game should check out Gigantic Army though.

That bank of four buttons stands in for one, but seriously who uses the stock joycons anyway?
what's the best option for an actual dpad in handheld mode?

I'll add Undernauts - Labyrinth of Yomi as another solid dungeon crawler. Good list though.
