Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

It's weird that this show excels both in animation and writing, even for a show made for kids, it's still way better than whatever kind of crap CN airs this days.
Also it excels in atmosphere.
I know that's a weird complement, but it makes me fiercely miss shit like old YouTube sketches where some dude would just go outside and either dress up and do crazy shit or animate that crazy shit over him going outside (that one short about render time that I think maybe Smosh made comes to mind but I'm sure there were more). The way it's lit and shot makes it feel very mundane, to a charming degree, meanwhile you're almost always seeing some of the craziest shit there. Stuff like a talking cat befriending an angel hiding within a peanut girl with antlers whom he has a crush on while his brother (who is a fish with legs) tells him it's a bad idea to try and seduce her with puns, for instance. (I don't think this actually happened in the show, it's just an example)
I love that kind of stuff, and Gumball is super appealing to me as a result. Regular Show has a similar effect but loses a bit of the realistic charm by being fully animated (this is not a bad thing; it just doesn't lean as heavily on that aesthetic specifically, which is okay).
I kind of wish the show itself was a bit less hyperactive so I could just sit back and appreciate the style, but meh.

Posting some screenshots because mwah.

I'm glad that for the last half/quarter of my childhood, I grew up with cartoons like Regular Show and Gumball. In my opinion, they were some of the last shows that capture the look and feel I imagine when I think about Cartoon Network. I can't speak for the new shows cause the newest CN show I watched was Steven Universe (even then I watched less than a quarter of the episodes and mostly out of order) but every recent show just seems so saturated, SU falls under the CalArts blanket but even they did a better job at dimming the colors when needed.

The cartoon spergs on twitter are probably flipping their shit about CN slowly getting taken over by Adult Swim but it's honestly for the best. The (man)children that actually still watch the new shows are most likely watching them through a streaming service or kiss cartoon so it's better to let it die than become a zombie. Maybe I'm being too optimistic but I hope this signifies a shift to more animation for adults, whether the animations will be good or not is up for debate.

Uncle Grandpa is underappreciated and pretty good while Regular Show and Gumball (and also Over the Garden Wall) were great, and the final bastion of good CN shows. Manbabies crying on social networking are pissed about Adult Swim swallowing up CN and thought it's a bad thing. But remember, CN was a product of the 90s and 2000s, so if it does die, let's at least thank the network for these two decades of good memories.

So there's some word about the voice of Chris of Total Drama that he's replaced due to some allegations
Quite a consistent stream of PoundMeToo bouts in entertainment lately. And what timing that it's during spring cleaning via layoffs to save pennies too.

Given his reaction to the Total Drama Reunion deal, and that project being shut down, it made sense, given that it turned out he had something to hide all along.

I do wonder if his replacement VA, Terry McGurrin, will end up falling in the same manner, given his sperging about Pmurt on social media, makes it come off as if he has something to hide as well.
