furries have been a thing since the 70's, though you're not wrong in that most of the way they are now is early 00's. I mean some of those faggots type like they're perpetually stuck in a 2004 Furcadia chatroom.

Also, I think that opinion is pretty close. However, I think more so furries are attention whores, least the loudest of them are. I know a few folks who put a lot of mental energy in being a "popufur" on social media. Started with a fursuit and slowly devolved to pornography posts to feel some sort of self worth. Social media in general has possibly caused more mental anguish and harm than the lockdowns in the pandemic.

What you should look at in a community is how they deal with extremists, I saw more than the majority of furries trying to dissiociate themselves from zoophiles and similar degenerates, while only one or two trannies disliking the idea of murdering TERFs.
