Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

It is nice when shit just works and (this is my age speaking here) games stopped looking new and amazing a decade ago. Graphics are not improving by the leaps and bounds they once were. It's not even close. Sure I can play Breath of the Wild on a Steam Deck with extra features enabled that make the game have better lighting and AA and whatever the new buzzword tech is. Are we still on ray tracing?
We are, but ray tracing is a meme for retards who are desperate to justify dropping $2000 on a GPU in order to play games that already run on high on a $400 GPU.

Speaking of Steam Deck, I can't imagine the battery holds up well when emulating newer systems like the PS3 and Switch. It already drains fairly fast when I'm playing PC games that run just fine on iGPUs.

NO ONE FUCKING CARES. It's a Switch thread because people want to talk about the Switch. You fucking insufferable PEECEE faggots are like Jehovah's Witnesses who can't handle the fact that someone doesn't want to spend thousands of dollars on a system like you.

I deliberately avoid playing on PC because I don't want to become a douchbag nigger who has to shit up every unrelated thread just to tell people their way of playing games is "wrong".

TLDR - Fuck off, cunt.
Just say "I'd rather play it on original hardware instead of at a computer desk, in a computer chair, with a controller with the wrong button labels, with the risk of running into bugs and glitches that may demand I just wait for a patch that I'll have to apply myself, all just to save $70"

I don’t mind the costumes themselves, but I hate being restricted to only a few options because the good looking ones have shit stats. Miitopia handled it well, where you could equip the cosmetics of one weapon/set of gear while getting the stat benefits of another.
Agree. Another issue I have with outfits, that is very specific, comes with the snow and sand boots. Other than the stupidity that you find snow boots in the desert region, I hate how neither have environmental attributes, so you need a head gear and top in the areas where you would use them. Why don’t the boots specifically designed for attributes of cold/hot temperature, actually do anything about the temperature? More annoyed by the snow than the sand, as at least sand can be either or.

So thing is, my friend sent me the Switch version of Skyrim, which I don't think supports mods.

There is one thing I wanna know though:

I see there's something called the Anniversary Edition. My friend sent me one that had a lot of the major DLCs (Dawnguard etc) but clearly isn't the Anniversary one (as when I boot the game it has a little pop-up telling me the Anniversary one is out now).

AE is on sale right now but I'm not sure if its worth paying thirty bucks for a game I already got for free. From my perspective the main benefit would just be not having to switch out a cartridge.
Skyrim Switch can load mods, but you need a modded Switch. It's pretty impressive when you mod it on Switch actually.

Switch is the Special Edition, which includes all the DLC (Dawnguard etc), Anniversary includes all the creation club content (paid mods that aren't very good). AE on Switch is a downgrade from Special Edition, it runs worse and is buggier. The game is also over 14gb so I think having a cart is better.

Minus the cost of the PSP itself and however long it took you to jailbreak it, get the emulator set up, and why the hell use a PSP
So you can go up to autistic faggots playing their gay red-and-blue Switches in public and be all like, "yeah that's right dipshit this is what a real handheld looks like, enjoy paying a monthly fee for emulation cuck" and then run off before their parents can grab you

We all know that sony handhelds are used as an underground signal for dicklickers, if they got an import Vita 2K out that is at least a 7 on database rarity charts you know they both got all the Sonic decomps preloaded and are out n about to be givin nuclear head, downside is 107% of em are dudes but succ is succ

>PSP is great because you can mod it for emulators
>nooo you can’t mod a Switch for emulators, that doesn’t count

???

Besides, I can’t look at emulation on a low-res handheld the same after my eyes were opened to the sobering truth of screen scaling. Bilinear filtering can only do so much without integer scaling.

I bet that dude doesn't even have a 2DS with homebrew. WHAT A FAG!

Nigga, why are you arguing with yourself about games running better on an emulator?
He's saying every game has the potential to run better on an emulator if you tweak the hell out of it, which is always much more involved than it sounds. Not everyone has time to waste on things like that when they can just slide the cart into the real hardware and start playing asap.

It had a pretty solid library. If you compare it to its competition at the time, then it's lacking, sure.
Agree, the PSP is kinda underrated.

I edited this out of my last post (because the way I worded it came off as angry) but the PSP is what introduced me to classics like Gradius, Salamander, and King of Fighters. Always gonna love it for that. And then there's exclusives like the Metal Gear Solid games--I know some of them got ported later but Portable Ops (which I think is kinda underrated) is still PSP exclusive. Plus there's some Megaman remakes that I've not seen anywhere else.

Apparently the PSP is also good if you really like JRPGs as that's most of what I've seen on it.

But my Switch is coming to life and beginning to cry that I'm shilling an older portable in what's supposed to be it's thread, so I gotta go give it gental coos and reassurances now.

It had some great RPGs
That was where its strength was. It had other strong genres too, plenty of action and shooters. The one area I think it suffered in was platformers, it had some but not nearly enough for me. It had less visual novels than DS too, I think.

Yeah, the Mega Man remakes are interesting. I liked them well enough, though I still just play the SNES MMX when I replay it. The Metal Gear Acid games are super underrated and overlooked too.

🤷
I think for me it doesn't particularly matter how others choose to play the game, just it's annoying when they keep on trying to insist that I'm wrong for preferring to pay and play it on the official hardware. But if everyone chose to download the game without paying, then there won't be new games in the future.

Exception is when Nintendo doesn't make it possible to even *buy* the game for any of their systems.

I play a lot of modded Skyrim and for my money, I'd go with the PC version of Skyrim Special Edition (SSE). It has a ton of mods (much like OldRim <-- That's OG Skyrim) but it is significantly more stable than the original release of the game. Plus most of the larger mods that are on both OldRim and SSE are significantly expanded for their SSE release. I don't have much experience with Anniversary Edition but I have seen a bunch of complaints about splitting the community once again with yet another release of the game. And at least in my case there's really no reason to get AE since SSE runs just fine, most of the mods worth your time are already on it and packed with details and updates.

So... thank your friend and be gracious for Skyrim on Switch and then grab SSE on PC and start downloading mods. You can stack a couple hundred mods up if you do it right and then you can run DynDOLOD which will create a custom level of detail scheme for your specific mod configuration. It's a fucking amazing piece of tech that these guys came up with and it makes the game pop. Message me if there are any questions.

An odd case I have involves the Megaman X anime "Day of Sigma" which was made for (and included with) the PSP remake... and yet oddly, I feel like its story makes more sense in the context of the SNES original. Either way, watching that movie makes me feel like I have to now go and play MMX1 to finish the story.

@Dammit Mandrake! For now what I'm gonna do is see if I even like Skyrim at all before I worry about getting it on a second platform.

That said, funny thing is Elder Scrolls is one of those series where I was into it before it got big--I have big box releases of both Arena and Daggerfall--but by the time Morrowind hit, I had moved on and wasn't interested. I do occasionally keep meaning to go back and try it, especially since I remember liking Oblivion (played on a friend's X-Box 360 during a brief time where we were roomies) and I keep hearing that Morrowind plays out like a midpoint between the Daggerfall style and the Oblivion style.

I used to be an RPG Player, but then I took an arrow in the knee, You know how it goes.

Actually, if I remember correctly, the reason I didn't get Morrowind on release was because at the time my PC couldn't run it, and it would be a few years before I could afford a powerful enough PC. I think this may have also been a case where I was stubbornly sticking with Windows 98 when everything was requiring Windows XP. These days, of course, I have two desktop PCs, either of which could run Morrowind easily, I just haven't felt like playing it. The main thing keeping me down now is just I tend to be on-again off-again with regards to open world games

Popular opinion: compared to Morrowind, Arena and Daggerfall are dog shit. Morrowind is peak Elder Scrolls; however, Skyrim is a very capable sandbox and with a significant amount of modding it is a very formidable game. Skyrim on its own is very okay but as a proof-of-concept for game modding, Skyrim really nails it. And don't get me wrong, I liked Arena and Daggerfall. But the modular nature of Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim are really something to behold. It gets better and better with each iteration.

I usually won't buy one of Todd's (peace be upon Him) games until the Game of the Year edition comes out. Because that is enough time for the fans to turn it into a really solid experience. Though the continued re-releases of Skyrim have really played hell with the modding scene. They are playing with fire when it comes to that.

The problem with SSE is that those assholes won't stop updating the game. Which means that mods are constantly breaking, thus breaking mod orders until updates for them are made by the creators. Even worse, the updates aren't about the game itself, but focused on the damn creation club that nobody uses. Its gotten to the point where the comments under every update announcement is players literally begging Bethesda to stop updating the game. The only way around it is go out of your way to turn off auto-update.
