What are some of your "warning sign" bands? - When you hear someone says they like X band then it's time to ask for the check.

I'm not even going to go into why since that'd take like ten different autistic rambling effortposts, but these bands and artists are the ones I consider to be major red flags for various reasons...

Crass
Tool
BTS (any K-Pop act really, but especially these guys)
Megan Thee Stallion
The Clash
Black Flag
Rage Against The Machine
Nine Inch Nails
Bikini Kill
Insane Clown Posse
Pretty much any "SoundCloud" rapper or mumble rapper
Type O Negative
Lil Nas X
Miley Cyrus
Courtney Love
Cardi B
Drake
Lil Wayne
Taylor Swift
The Circle Jerks
Morissey (only if they're White though. Latinos get a pass)
Marilyn Manson
The Changelings
Indigo Girls
Florida Georgia Line

Any cult of personality types that no one can criticize.

Beyonce seems to have faded into the background, so my Queen of Red Flags at this point is Taylor Swift.

There is not a thing about Taylor Swift that I find even remotely positive, and her fandom consists of people who eat up her schtick: emotionally stunted, childish and who don't actually understand words beyond a third grade level (seriously, putting aside the fact that she couldn't find a cliche or catchphrase she won't beat into the ground...is Anti-Hero really about being an anti-hero or being an asshole?).

I guess that's why they eat it up, because they're willing to buy the illusion that this bitch - who never seems to stop complaining about shit (which probably makes her the artist of this generation) - is tall, attractive and was born destined to be rich would have been their bestie with all the same problems they have.

That's why I find her fanbase frightening. They're a fanbase that would go to bat for someone who's played them for morons.

I don't really have any to be honest.

Most people really do not enjoy the music I enjoy, so I tend to be pretty accepting of most people's tastes overall.

I get more freaked about about people who obsess over music artists. As in the person or group. This, to me, is a very strong sign that we won't agree on many things. I don't really have any patience or understanding for people who venerate celebrities.

Kendrick Lamar- a favorite of white suburbanites who have a shit ton of white guilt and fantasize about being hood but would be on high alert at all times if they stepped foot in a ghetto.
It's a coinflip when it comes to Kendrick fans. You either have avid rap fans that you can have a good conversation with that happen to have him as one of their favorites of the decade or some of the most obnoxious white people you'll ever comprehend. Playboi Carti and XXXTENTACION are pretty similar in terms of overlap, minus the white guilt but 5 times more obnoxious.

I feel like for girls, Taylor Swift, Melanie Martinez and Nicki Minaj are all red flags cause half the time they're some of the most obsessed motherfuckers that can't even fathom their favorite artist being slightly criticized.

If a westerner likes Molchat Doma, they're all but guaranteed to be either some tiktok loving suburbanite who fakes depression for attention and frequents Spencer's (if female) or an annoying slavaboo who wears adidas tracksuits everywhere and says cheeki breeki out loud (if male)
both of these stereotypes are especially true if they mention that their favorite song from the group is "Sudno":

If someone likes Sabaton, it is safe to assume that they are somewhere on the autism spectrum and have over 100 hours in one of the following games: War Thunder, ArmA 3, or Hearts of Iron 4. They will always try to divert any discussion topic to the best tanks of World War 2. Expect political sperging at random intervals from them.

Two bands exemplify political sperging more than any other. They are listed below.
If someone likes Five Finger Death Punch, they drive a ford F150 covered in trump bumper stickers and truck nuts.
If someone likes Rage Against The Machine, they drive a Toyota Prius with a Bernie 2016 bumper sticker and a coexist sticker.

If someone likes Creed, chances are that they're a 30 year old "born again christian" who used to struggle with heroin abuse. Incredibly preachy.

If someone likes S3RL, they're either a fat, autistic weaboo in their 30s living off of SSDI or a tranny.

Why?

For me they're basically the go-to band for people who want to LARP about being punk or punk-conscious, which is fitting since I've heard they were somewhat of middle-class LARPers themselves. I find them insufferable, not as much as Bono but pretty close, and they're basically the prototype for RatM.

Pretty much for the same reasons you mentioned, The Clash is a very overrated and insufferable band.

Plus, I really don't care for most punk in general as a rule, be it pop punk or real punk. In my opinion, the only good things that came out of punk were the early goth rock bands and thrash metal.

Really shitty soundcloud/zoomer sad boy rap: the person I had to interact with in particular that liked this garbage had an extremely low attention span, couldn't stop melting his brain via non stop TikTok viewing and he smelled really bad.

RATM, Prophets of Rage, other misc. lefty "metal" bands: every person who listens to that kind of nonsense is usually over the age of 35 and still has crippling TDS despite the man being out of office for 3 years at this point. I even knew a dude from Britbongistan who mainly listened to that trash and would spend hours of his day kvetching about American politics.

Sublime: each person I've ever seen wearing a Sublime shirt or who has said they liked Sublime's music has had a crippling addiction to weed and a room temperature IQ

TMBG: terminal soy band

I‘d say anybody who listens to and likes any drill music. It’s a horrible shitty repetitive music and the artists actually live out what they rap about. The fans of drill music from what I know are usually violent felons with a extensive criminal record.

If I know anyone who primarily listens to reegaeton, I’m assuming they are soy drinking cucks who hate themselves and their own cultures. Why would anybody listen to that crap? It’s the same problem with drill, repetitive beats with little to no originality.

Most K-Pop listeners are toxic people and are generally annoying to be around. They keep pestering people about their favorite bands (Like BTS) and do it to the point where the title of Eminem‘s song “Stan” is now used to refer to an obessesion with a boyband.

Punk music nowadays is almost exclusively listened to by Antifa members, Syaoran Li is right, Punk music is pretentious garbage and many people should stay away from anybody who unironically says Punk is their favorite genre.

Of course the heavy hitters like Tool, Sublime, and Taylor Swift have already been mentioned so no need to elaborate any further on those.

Any white person that listens to nothing but black music. I don't know why but it always gets me irrationally angry. Plus I don't want to listen to nothing but rap. That's fucking boring. Don't people like variety anymore?

Punk is also a good indicator of someone being an outright obnoxious faggot. Same goes for metal nowadays. The inner city scenes have been ruined by identity politics and none of that shit is fun to listen to.

Shit, where do I begin? I suppose I'll start with Tool. I've never been into them outside a handful of songs, but most of their fans are among the most insufferable and pretentious twats to ever exist. I also give DSBM fans a wide birth, as DSBM is garbage and I'm plenty mopey and dejected already without subjecting myself to those comedians. In fact, I tend to dislike most metal fans I meet or talk to, so many are such garden variety idiots, even though I listen to a lot of metal subgenres myself. Auto-tune rap is a given, same with pop. People who like shit like The Strokes or The White Stripes-hard no. If you listen to any band Rolling Stone fellates, chances are we'll have zero in common. Insane Clown Pussies, maybe that's pretty low hanging fruit but they bear mentioning anyway because they've endured for far longer than they should have. Though it seems like the Juggalo thing is pretty dead. Good riddance.

Adding a lot of the aggressive synthwave stuff was co-opted by far-right poseurs who wouldn't dance with feds/police. It's basically overly-produced nupunk for edgy WASPs with Richard Spencer haircuts. Gradually I came to hate them.
