But more on topic, I'm still waiting for an official answer from Disney on whether or not the Ewok movies are canon. This is the only thing that matters and the fanboys don't care.
Moar EU Autism from the Lego stop-motion community. This was pre-Disney sale, but it's autistic enough to warrant a mention here. This guy wrote an entire song and then animated a video to go with it because he was butthurt about The Clone Wars. Why was he butthurt? Because Clone Wars was a shitty film/TV show? Nope, because it contradicted canon in a few books and comics. He also seems to act like Star Wars only got shit with Clone Wars rather than the prequels. Surprise, surprise.
To be fair, the song is of significantly higher quality than you'd expect from this kind of thing, but that almost makes it sadder because you realise how much time the guy must have put into this.
A friend of mine got triggered today because Rogue One is invalidating the first level of Dark Forces (1995) where Kyle Katarn stole the Death Star plans. He proceeded to go on a multi-page Facebook rant about Timothy Zahn, 1990's Lucasarts games, and how Disney is basically the Fourth Reich.
When I saw the Rogue One trailer, I thought "Hmm, I remember playing the guy who found the Death Star plans in Dark Forces back in the day. Huh, guess they decided to change it. Oh, well" and moved on with my day.
I can't imagine being annoyed about it at all, let alone so furious as to write a multi-page rant.

Even before Disney, there were like four characters in the EU who supposedly stole the Death Star plans. Any author writing a novel set immediately before Star Wars always had their pet character do it.
If this is like similar billboard campaigns where someone rents a billboard just to put a picture of it on the Internet, it's some billboard literally in the middle of nowhere looking out over some vacant lots and crack houses, and only stays up long enough to take a picture of it.

I get that they want more stories to be told in the "Legends" timeline. It's sort of like how Marvel or DC will occasionally tell stories set before a certain event/reboot/whatever; but Disney being Disney, they probably don't want to touch the moldy old stuff with a 10 foot pole (and the only pre-reboot thing they ever give any lip service to these days is The Old Republic) and from a business standpoint, I get why they'd rather not go back to writing stories set in the previous timeline. At least, not right now.
But a billboard? Well... if they wanna do the equivalent to flushing money down a toilet, that's their right I guess. It's not unlike some fan campaigns I've seen where they've rented out signage on buses.
If I remember the /co/ thread, someone said it was somewhere in SoCal... I wanna say it was San Francisco. I think the intent was to get Disney to see it, but ah, kinda hard to do when they're all the way up in Anaheim.
Also, Chuck Wendig (author of 'Aftermath') wrote an open letter to these people. I thought 'Aftermath' was hot garbage (and not because of 'the gay') and Wendig has a bit of an ego, but broken clock right twice a day, etc. And apparently, these SWEU autists even drove off one of the owners of a long-running site in the SW blogosphere. SWEU autists can turn into batshit foamers pretty quick, so I don't blame the guy for walking away for a while.
So yes the Billboard did actually manage to go up by Matt Wilkins and co. It was put up in San Francisco near Lucasfilm's headquarters with the intention of their employees seeing it. It's going to be up for at least a month last I heard.
In addition to their campaign website, they also have a Facebook page where (as expected) they've been pretty defensive against criticism. However, none of this really matters anyway. Lucasfilm doesn't really seem interested at all at catering toward these people, especially when Pablo Hidalgo, one of the key members of Lucasfilm's Story Group (basically the caretakers of the new canon). has told these people to go fuck off in the past. He even commented saying the Billboard isn't even in the direction he drives to work to.
For anyone interested in seeing more cringeworthy content from EU fans, there is a Facebook page that been documenting the EU Movement's terrible Facebook presence since Episode 7's release.

Pablo was a real class act here. I don't know if I'd have as much patience as he did dealing with that autistic retard BFett. Also, that Facebook page is an excellent archive of EU autism. The posts I saw on there fucking depressed me.
So it seems Thrawn is returning to Star Wars. He'll be featured in Season 3 of Rebels and Zahn's writing a new book about him.
This could be interesting. Either original EU fans will flock back en masse or there'll be a load of salt about this. Or both. Either way it'll be interesting to see this unfold.

So far the reaction to Thrawn's recanonization has been positive. Then again it's barely been less than a day since the announcement, so who knows how the diehard Legends fans will react. I honestly saw Thrawn's appearance coming from a mile away the moment rumors started flying around.
Also, it's nice that they're getting Timothy Zahn to write the new book. The Heir to the Empire trilogy is fucking dope!
