The Outrider also appeared in the season 3 trailer which possibly means Dash Rendar from Shadows of the Empire will be making a return. Now we just need Kyle Katarn to come back and everyone will be happy.

The decanonisation of the Zahn trilogy is what 90% of the Legends spergallery were complaining about. So by re-introducing him with his own book, written by Zahn and a visual appearace on Rebels, Disney will be able to recapture that audience. Look for lots of 'I'm only reading it for Thrawn' and 'I'm only watching it for Thrawn'.
That just leaves 10% of the saltiest bastards on earth. And who really wants to market to them anyway?
The fallout amongst the BBL idiots should be interesting.

Barely a month ago, Zahn told the EU tards to calm down and accept the fact the EU was non-canon, while pointing out it was never really "official" canon. Knowing what we know now, he timed these comments rather well...

We're already half way there, there's a couple of shots of some very Dark Trooper esque robots stomping about in the trailer, they might cut out Dash and just have Kyle be the captain of the Outrider.

I did kinda fanboy a bit when I saw thrawn in the trailer. luckily i hadnt been spoiled beforehand.
Now lets see if they bring in a ghost of revan and a young kyle katarn (who was a defecting imperial cadet remember, which is gonna be a plotline of this season) and thus complete the holy trinity of non sucky EU stuff

Most people did. I know I did when he appeared and I knew it was coming. Thrawn's probably the greatest non-movie villain Star Wars has.
Kyle Katarn may be a long shot. His backstory's very similar to Finn's from The Force Awakens so if he does appear there'll probably be some changes made to it.
I'm going to see if I can hunt down some Thrawn salt later. I can't believe there isn't a sperg out there throwing a temper tantrum over Thrawn being the wrong shade of blue or the fact his grand admiral uniform doesn't have epaulettes.

Its sounds like the EU fans have learned to appreciate what scraps Disney is willing to give them. If they start complaining Disney can just threaten to take Thrawn away again.

It would be wise for these guys to just be grateful someone is listening to them, but to also remember that Disney needs not to cater to them or their ilk, at the end of the day.

I can certainly sympathize with those distraught at the EU being wiped clean (I mean, if I invested 20 or so years into something only for it to no longer "count", I'd be mad too) even though I never got into it, despite being a huge Star Wars fan. But the autism of the Take Back Legends crowd has been so great that I'm surprised it hasn't created a black hole singularity that has destroyed the universe.
