Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

It seems like Visions is just a series of animated one shots now instead of an anime thing. As much as kinda liked the last batch, this just seems cynical. Kinda like Disney is using their infinite power and wealth to give us crumbs of a good idea and nothing else despite clearly showing they have the ability to produce decent anine shorts.
Or they just decided to copy off of Love, Death and Robots.

This is making the rounds, and I think it's fake.
All right, nix that. I hope fervently to god that this is fake, because I don't want to believe that we've finally arrived at the dumbest timeline.

Supposedly, this image is from a scene in the upcoming movie, in which Rey was knocked up by Kylo Ren's Force Ghost.
Hope will only harm you. It's best to simply move on. The dragon won't ever give up its stolen treasure and will guard it jealousy . Just let go... the pain only lasts a moment.

Again, if you're an old Star Wars EU fan, there's more than enough content to bury your head into until the heat death of the universe. Why care about what Disney is doing with their own mangled canon?

It's like Marvel 616 fans caring about what Marvel Ultimate is doing. They're two separate realities. If anything, you should be thanking God that Disney decanonized the old stuff and discontinued it; that way, it remains untarnished. It will forever remain yours, while Disney just screws up their own canon.

The way I view Disney canon is to just use it as entertainment; if they make something worthwhile, good for them. If not, hey, it's not my SW canon, so I don't give a flying fuck.

I agree I was pointing out to the person talking about the new movies. I've not seen a movie since... the joker I think? It's gotten to the point I can't even stomach them as social events. I'm slowly being pushed out of television as well. It's gotten to the point the only media I'm consuming is audio books.

We live in the gayest time line but with any luck this shit will implode. Still hurt watching the first episode of the wheel of time though...

Is the Clone Wars cartoon worth a watch?
No.

There's a SWEU wiki for those of you wishing to enjoy one without the Disney influence:

Go and help them write articles, if you wish.

There's tons of comics, games, and novels for the old SW canon that can satisfy your thirst for ages. As for other media, there's tons of old movies, cartoons, anime, video games, more than enough for someone resourceful to just ignore Hollywood completely.

And it's not like movies are a lost cause altogether. The Super Mario movie crushing Disney's nuts is proof of that.

We live in the gayest time line but with any luck this shit will implode. Still hurt watching the first episode of the wheel of time though...
It's already imploding. It's been imploding since TLJ. Filoni and Favreau merely delayed the inevitable.

So Andor is good. The irrelevant and pointless prequel series to Rogue One of all Disney Star Wars content is the only one that's good. It wasn't the new trilogy, it wasn't the series made around a fan favorite, and it wasn't in any video game. It was fucking Andor.
what timeline do we live in?
Is the Clone Wars cartoon worth a watch?
Yes for both.

Yes for both.

Is it really good? All the positive reviews seem to say it's nothing like Star Wars "which is why it works bigot!" and the comments on YouTube seem to paint it as a long, tedious, gray show with little action and lots of staring pensively into the distance.

And still doesn't have titties.

It's not like traditional Star Wars because it's more of a spy thriller. You know how the original writers of Rogue One wanted something grey? Andor is like that, but the Empire is unmistakably worse than the disorganized Rebels. If people thought it was long and tedious, they're too used to the action schlock prevalent as of late. There is a lot of talking, but it's not pointless at all. Things are hectic, there is a lot everyone doesn't know and wants to find out, a lot is riding on so little, and things are steadily building up. Andor does more for Star War's setting in the first episode than the entire sequel trilogy does. I know that's not saying a lot, but it's still more effort than everything else these days.

I initially had it running on background noise, but there was a moment early on where I realized it was actually worth an honest watch.

Is the Clone Wars cartoon worth a watch?
It's good overall but it goes from a Star Wars show about the clone wars to a glorified AU fanfiction after a while. Especially where Ahsoka is concerned because she becomes the glue holding the universe together after a while. And don't even get me started on the behavior chips.

That's an awful lot of skin for Current Year.

Its a show you pick your poison with because its formatted as an anthology series. There are good episodes, meh episodes, and straight up bad episodes. if you don't care to watch all of it there's nothing wrong with looking up an episode guide. its also important to note that due to production issues some of the episodes where aired out of order so another reason to maybe have a guide handy.

Any of the Mandalore/Darth Maul/Clone focused episode I think are worth a watch the rest starts to fall in the kinda good to bad territory. I think the show is worth a whole watch through just so you can have merit in complaints and discussion, you should also know the first 2 seasons are pretty bad.

Trailer for the second season of Visions is out.

Oh hey, the Animatrix.

Its fake, but its so dumb that I wish it was real.

I mean SW as a franchise has always had a thing about somewhat forced cameos and references but that was only to remind casual viewers and readers that its the same setting and at least then they had a wider subject matter to dig through, but Filoni has become a sole one trick pony who can only reference his two cartoon shows and his favorite selection of twelve characters, resulting in the setting not only feeling microscopic in size, but a victim to shameless favoritism that would even put Zahn's own favoritism for Thrawn to shame, made only worse by his weird wolf fixation.
Cameos are difficult to pull off successfully. It requires the proper casting, scripting, and directing for it to work well and be memorable for all the right reasons. As such, it's also easy to botch. So, I'm not holding my breath that Disney can do a good job more than not with cameos. @Creep3r has it right that Filoni has stuck with his fixed set of pet characters and somehow feels the need to throw them into everythihing he works on even if their presence makes no sense or creates inconsistencies.

Having fucking Lizzio in a cameo.
NGL, every time I see or hear Lizzo's name, I parse it as "Lezzo." Given her presence already ticks off diversity check boxes, maybe there's truth in advertising.

Every major event Ahsoka survives shows me she no longer has a purpose to the meta-narrative of star wars and it irritates me to no end that I once liked this character and now I only see orange Yoko Ono!
Agreed. A number of us (and SW fans elsewhere) have presented good ways on how Ahsoka's death before the OT events could have furthered the plot and overall saga. Filoni seems as if he's trying to turn her into the character that can never die so that he never has to kill her off. Similar to cameos, character deaths can be meaningful when done properly. Expecting that from Disney Wars, however, goes beyond optimism. :optimistic:

I will also like to add that I hate how when the animated characters are adapted to live action,
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, some animated characters just aren't suited for live action or shouldn't be portrayed as such. Shoehorning characters into a work gratuitously is seldom as effective as anticipated. Too bad the powers that be are more interested in pandering to the minority that wold applaud the most inferior Star Wars content as the next greatest thing(tm).

Between that and the Z-list celebrities making up the cast list, Star Wars jst isnt as recognizable and memorable any more.

As much as the show's tasks were repetitive after the first couple of episodes, I did like Ahmed Best's character in the Jedi Temple Challenge thing that @Adamska recapped here as the episodes were released. However, I feel throwing his character into current SW content will only detract from his fun role as Jedi game show host and leave the character languishing in a dead-end series that squanders both his character and any potential development for it.

Found this infographic for recommended episodes. Might come in handy.
