Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

It doesn't matter, $59.99/$49.99/$69.99 etc, prices were still expensive back then as it is now. The only difference is BOTH the quality and quanity of the games themselves have taken a HUGE nosedive over the years, and companies, even to this day, fight like hell to justify taking more of the consumer's money with shit like blueprints, expansion packs, etc...
Games back in the day cost twice as much, cost way less to develop, and generally had significantly less content.

If anything, it's justified that people are being cautious about how they spend their money when it comes to vidya. Time and time again there have been numerous track records of people buying full priced games only to be slapped in the face or given an I.O.U because said games are either missing features (or just outright removing them because reasons) or just outright broken due to short development times or just sheer incompetence.
All that sucks but you can make that argument without having to pretend nothing has changed in the last 25 years and the only explanation for everything is corporations being evil.

Excuse my retardation but I don't get when people make statements like this, as if to say games back then were much more expensive than games now, therfore it's justified. Because you know in about 10-20 more years people are going to make the same argument about current video game prices now when the next inflation hits. It doesn't matter, $59.99/$49.99/$69.99 etc, prices were still expensive back then as it is now. I also have this question: the price of the game is calculated using the rate of inflation for the price of goods. However, the rate of increase in wages have not kept up at all. Wouldn't that imply that the inflation calculation is overestimating how difficult it was to buy games ten, twenty years ago?

People only remember the good stuff and forget that so many games, including heavily pushed tent-poles, were just totally unfun, broken, feature-bare garbage.
The point is that there's good stuff to remember in the first place. Now, everything is "totally unfun, broken, feature-bare garbage".

Luckily back then Blockbuster was around and it was easy to find used games for a good price.

You can easily put 100 hours into a single playthrough of Elden Ring. The only way you got close to a save file with that many hours 20 years ago in a JRPG was constantly grinding random battles for hours on end to be able to beat some overpowered optional boss. There's a lot of trash these days but there are still plenty of great games worth playing.

Seems like Pokemon Stadium's out on NSO now.

Actually all three of those names are new to me. Tho being made by the Danganronpa devs doesn't inspire confidence as apparently their last two games (Yurukill and World's End Club) kinda sucked.

I'm actually pretty new to Visual Novels. A long time ago I played thru one path of Kawata Shoujo (I wound up with the armless girl) but never revisited the genre. I like Ace Attorney. Danganronpa I watched other people play.

The only ones I own on Switch are Famicom Detective Club (haven't played yet) and this one called Reverse Memories which was literally on sale for a dollar and just sounded interesting.
If you're new to them then if you have a DS or 3DS there's some great ones. Zero Escape and Hotel Dusk are probably the best in the genre imo.

Really? It's a little more rigid than DS, which still feels the best to me, but DD feels pretty good.
I guess don't get old. :feels:

I feel like I am the only one that remembers how broken and shit Pokemon Stadium was. The attack tables weren't even close to the original games and were a complete mess.

But hey I'd rather argue with you guys about how good or bad Pokemon Stadium was than entertain another fucking discussion about inflation and the price of video games. You fuckers go back to the Zelda thread where I've already berated you once.
Also you niggers arguing inflation. Jesus Christ.

I played Mario Kart SNES as a kid, too late for that lol

Are you sure? I think it actually played better, and fixed certain glitches, didn't it? I thought it was great, but the AI might have cheated by reading inputs, idk. Multiplayer was still incredible.

The minigames were overlooked too, each was really fun and simple, controlling well.

Changes from Red, Blue, and Yellow
Pokémon Stadium features a number of changes to the battle system. Many of these fix glitches present in the Generation I core series games.

General changes include:
  • Team preview is enabled.
  • The HP bars of both active Pokémon numerically display their HP.
  • Items may not be used in battle.
  • The duration of sleep is reduced to 1-3 turns.
  • A Pokémon cannot be put to sleep by an opponent (but it can use Rest) if the Pokémon's teammate is asleep.
  • If a Pokémon defeats an opposing Pokémon with a recoil move, the Pokémon does not suffer recoil damage.
  • An immobilized Pokémon can still select a move.
  • Consecutive moves such as Wrap end when the target switches out.
  • If a Pokémon is fully paralyzed during the invulnerable turn of Dig or Fly, the move resets.
  • When a paralyzed Pokémon's Speed stat is modified, its Speed reduction is no longer nullified.
  • A confused Pokémon will reveal the move it attempted to use when it hits itself in confusion.
  • After a move which causes self-inflicted confusion (e.g. Thrash) ends, the game will display a message stating that the target is confused.
  • The variable that determines the last damage dealt is reset whenever a Pokémon switches, is fully paralyzed, or uses a two-turn move.
  • This variable is unaffected by recoil damage.
  • Recovery moves no longer fail when the difference between a Pokémon's current and maximum HP is 1 less than a multiple of 256 (i.e. 255 or 511).
  • Critical Hit ratio is changed to "(BaseSpeed + 76 / 1024 )"
  • Moves no longer have an additional 1/256 chance to miss.
  • The stat modifiers for accuracy and evasion were changed.
In addition, the following moves were changed:

And since Nintendo did nothing for Transfer Paks, it's rentals or bust. I'm good, I did my time and it's not fun enough to do it again.
Yeah I was hoping that you'd be able to transfer Pokemon over. Optimistically, if they ever put the Pokemon games on the Nintendo Switch Online service, maybe they'll include connectivity. Along these lines I am also interested to see how Banjo-Tooie pans out when it gets released (it will). Minor stuff that probably won't happen but it would be cool.

At least the Oracle games will be coming out soon so people can play the linked version easily.

I honestly have doubts that Nintendo will do anything to virtualize the transfer paks. I feel like if they were going to, RBY would be out before Stadium 1/2.

At least I have that to look forward to.

Are you kuding me? You can easily find good non-Nintendo games, even relatively recent ones, for under ten bucks, go back furtwr and look at steam sales for good, cheap stuff. We've never had it so good as we do now.

Anyone play the Mario + Rabbids games? I enjoyed the first one, the second one has improved battle mechanics but I'm still picking my way through it.
First one was excellent, but an little bit too rigid. The second one is an bit of an slogfest, but they gave you so many ways to snap the game in half that it's not even funny.

How the eff would reading inputs even help for a menu-driven battle game? Or am I remembering Pokemon Stadium wrong? (Cuz my memory is it was basically just the battle system from the gameboy games but with 3D graphics).

I remember I used to get pissed off at Mario Kart 150cc mode (SNES)... it wasn't until my 20s that I finally conquered it.

All you people saying the old Karts were either too stiff or too floaty... did you experiment with different characters?
