Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

I doubt someone who is on the fence about ANY game, for various reasons, would have bought at 60, 70 or 90 bucks regardless. More likely wait for a sale, rent the game or pirate it. From an european or japanese perspective, nothing changed too.
I don't doubt that, either, but now those sales are going to be smaller (I doubt they'll give bigger percentages off to compensate for the price increase- it'll probably stay in the same exact range) and it doesn't matter in this case anyways because Nintendo shit never goes on sale. Not for anything more than like 5%, that is.
And the Europeans and Japanese getting it better is another thing- why is it that we have to pay more just because of our region (aside from the inflation argument which is a whole mess of questionable worms)? If anything, this'll lead to more people abusing separate-region stores to get lower prices, a problem that Steam is currently dealing with by forcing a shit ton of games to increase their prices in those countries and fuck over residents who were completely unrelated to this entire ordeal.

Lol. Europe has been fucked over for decades, being charged on a one to one euros to dollars rate even though their currency was worth a lot more pre-covid.

I'm not quite seeing why people are still saying that the trailer didn't show off anything new. Many of the environments, setpieces, mechanics, and story beats in the new trailer I don't recall seeing in the original game, such as those giant caverns and the like alongside several new gameplay features.

At any rate, I am highly excited about TOTK. I'm thinking it'll, at the very least, be what Thief 2 was to Thief 1. Not a game that revolutionizes the series per se but hones its strengths and polishes everything up, making it even better than the original.

There are regular sales of Nintendo games on the eshop side (around 30% off twice a year at least) and they are ironically more frequent than pre-Ryza Atelier games, Nippon Ichi Software & Falcom titles (on the JP eshop specifically) for instance. And the Switch games that actually never go on sale are visual novels published by Prototype and certain shmups (like ESP Ra.De Psi & Aleste Collection).

Japanese yen prices on vidya are definitely not cheaper, not from a native POV or someone who imports.
It's not uncommon for me to pay twice or thrice the price of a JP release that is on sale compared to its european counterpart (just to obtain the text in moonrunes) due of prepaid cards.

Plus whenever the console gets discontinued for a newer generation, the better games get turned into "Nintendo Selects" and have their price dropped to under $20 or so.

How many of them are first party? I know they discount some of their weirder stuff like Snipperclips, but I'm talking about killer apps not the B-team pet projects.

This is actually informative though, thank you for the info.

When was the last time you played the original game? I'll give you the giant caverns, but almost every other environment looked very familiar to me...

"Aside from the new things, everything else is old" Well, sure I guess. It is using the same base map after all so that'd make sense, is that a bad thing for sure though?

Except that the old things heavily outweigh the new, and in a game literally about discovery and exploration reusing so much content is bound to harm the overall experience

From the trailer only, I'd disagree. the majority of what was seen is new. The sky, the caves, the fights between Hyrule and baddies, Link pulling an Ethan Hunt, the cutscenes. Even shit on the base map has been changed, there was the camp on Castle Town (which probably means more camps), the glyphs on the ground, the new "towers" like things. There is also the foundations we saw during the gameplay. Random parts of the sky falling so you can explore specific sky islands, the new abilities practically reframe the whole map so you'd have to think about it in new ways.

Even then, it has been confirmed that the map itself was changed for this game with giant chasms and shit so the new stuff is organically integrated into the old map, which again, would reframe the entire thing and give you incentives to explore it even if you know the old map, because things have changed.

Maybe so. I'm just skeptical that they've changed enough to not only justify the increase in price but truly differentiate the game as a sequel. It still kind of feels like DLC, and I guess we won't know if that's an unjust sentiment or proper intuition until the game leaks

God, I just can't fucking wait. I haven't been this hyped for a game since... Smash Ultimate? Odyssey? BotW? Oblivion (the game that killed "hype" for me for decades)?

I am going to consoooom so hard.

Yeah, the map is barely recognizable to me, so that's something, I guess. There's an lot more NPCs in Hateno Village, but I'm not sure if that's actually in the game, though.

As for the rest, well shit is certainly happening; an lot more than BOTW ever tried.

Wondering if the second half of this year will be able to compete with the first. We've already had Hi-Fi Rush, RE4 as great games. This and FF16 (IMO) look like they might actually be good games too. Can Starfield even compete?

Starfield is going to be mediocre, based on the way Todd is talking about it. Bethesda hasn't really made anything 'great' in a LONG time. Anyone who thinks Starfield will be this big thing is reading into things too much. I'm willing to be surprised by it, but its also a Bethesda game. No way am I buying that at launch, even if its incredible.

Fuck no, it's Bethesda lol. HFR is the only good game they've made in like 15 years. RE4 is also a remake, imo it hardly counts. Glad it's actually a good one though. Feels like for every half-decent remake we get there are 30 more terrible ones that come after

IT STILL SHOWED NOTHING
WHY :\
Nintendo knows they're sitting on a bomb here, which is why they quietly dropped the trailer when they knew it was sure to be overshadowed by M2's stream.

Dodonpachi Daioujou? Horror Story? Hellfire? The legendary Zero Wing? Looks like all Nintendo's base are belong to M2, if I may say so.

I got a Hori Split Pad Pro years ago and never looked back. (there's different designs and even different models of it now so you may wanna look around).
If you don't want to use a 3rd party controller but are okay with modding it, get one of those joycon shell swaps that have dpads.
I want a dpad plus wireless support and after looking into it, a replacement kit seems like pretty much the only option.

IT STILL SHOWED NOTHING
WHY :\

Correct me if i'm wrong, but the only new info was
>Ganon is back (who could've guessed)
>Main theme is back (see above)
>There's a companion system now
>Some more light bits of story (seems like it'll just amount to finding Zelda in the sky?)
>Possibly better enemy interactions or something? You can see a slime being smacked by what looks like a Lizalfos in like the first shot but I think that's it
>minecart fighting
>like 2 new bosses?
>old towns are back and for the most part
exactly the same
Half of that shit hardly counts as a single bulletpoint, and we're a month out from release
It's going to sell gangbusters anyways, but I'm seriously confused by their marketing strategy here. Are they trying to hide a really troubled development? Are they genuinely betting on a "less is more" approach and just showing almost nothing so that people post more stuff on social media for free advertising?
I don't understand, this hardly looks like it's worth 10 extra bucks to me. (:_(
LOL what a faggot! Never satisfied.

:story:

Yeah I hate to say it, but saying that the new trailer still showed nothing I wholeheartedly disagree with. What, did the new environments, caverns, enemy types, scenarios, traversal mechanics, and story not count for anything? Even the towns had added elements not seen in BOTW.

I get being skeptical, especially with the price-point. But if I've learned anything from playing sequels like Super Mario Galaxy 2, Mega Man Zero 3, and Thief 2 The Metal Age, it's that this game looks to be more of a refinement and less of a revolutionary step. And that's more than adequate given how well the aforementioned sequels turned out, since it looks like TOTK is following a similar pattern.
