after playing through RE4make i have two guesses as to what capcom is going to do with RE going forward because i'm looking to the future and RE9. both guesses are pretty much the same thing but different priorities.
1) they're softly abandoning the original timeline of games based on the MT Framework engine. what i am suggesting by this is that they will remake RE5 and RE6 to tie the narrative harder into the Mold bullshit from RE7 and RE8 and have much of the main series modernified and playable on RE Engine. RE4make has a lot of very curious and familiar nods to Mold and the black liquid associated with it.
the only wild cards here are that we have no idea if they're going to remake RE: Code Veronica and RE1 again but who knows. i think it'd be lame to do the latter unless they add in RE0 as well. once they've gone through shamefully remaking their entire franchise to make up for whatever haunts them about it, then we'll see RE9 at last.
or,
2) they'll start hyping up and maybe even release RE9 during 2024 and then go back to remaking shit. i leave this as a distinct guess because if they decide to go forward on RE9 for next year then there's a chance we'll how relevant RE5 and RE6 might still be to the current canon.
either way, i loathe the day we see the version of Jill from RE3make in RE5make.

Word! I already bitched about it before but this thread is my Resident Evil "safespace" if you will because you guys seem very sane and I'm not in the mood for Ashley or Mouseley simping or whatever the fuck the Kennedussy is.
Anyway...
I can already see them using the mold stuff for Sherry, assuming they will do RE6. Considering their track record so far, it seems very plausible that they will do 5 and 6, and then use 6 as a gateway to 7, developing Blue Umbrella and whatnot.
I have a weird feeling that we probably won't see any of the side games remade, which probably leaves some holes in the overall story if people care about that.
But assuming I'm wrong, would it mean that we'd get Darkside Chronicles?
I'm gonna cry if they do RE1 yet again. That game has been remade to death. It's nearing Street Fighter II levels of needless rehashes.
Probably a stupid thought, but I kinda wonder what story they will go for with 9. Despite the DLC for 8, I highly doubt we'll get Rose as the new main character. Especially with the BSAA cliffhanger. It'll probably be about that. And it'll probably be like 6 with all the big players coming back (And Claire, hopefully)

Feels a bit unfair compearing the new version to the gamecube version when the PC HD version is the one most people will play, not the gamecube version. Im not talking about the re-texter project either

You cant just complain about people praising one Youtuber then praise Crowbcat for making a video for "owning" the shills. The fact he even titled the video soul vs soulless makes me think this video was being made in preparation of the remake being a flop but now it wasnt but they wasted to much effort on it already.

So beaten RE4 Remake. Overall its an enjoyable experience. Gameplay is much better and the ability to parry attacks is pretty cool. The only real downside is how they changed the story and some of the characters.
Also a big flaw is no giant midget statue chasing you down a corridor.

I'll be honest, I think this could be one of weaker video made by Crowbcat himself. I do highly agree with the RE4R lacks of. Staring from major downgrades on environment sound design, major cut contents from OG RE4, bad VA performance + dialogue, shorter cutscene momentum, the loss of OG charms, Ada's thigh fanservice, Merchant guy can be killed for giggles, Leon's flirting voice call towards Hunnigan at end of game, etc.
Few things I liked from the Remake is the lightning to the game's environment, most part of gameplay aside perfect parry timing on Professional mode, and that's it.
I don't know, I expect Crowbcat to add more comparison to the video between OG and Remake. Maybe a further gameplay details, soundtracks, unthinkable DLC microtransactions, and so on. Nonetheless, it was an alright but rather underwhelming video.
No kidding. It's horrifying that criticizing something = death threats to shills POV's nowadays.

crowbcat's video comes off as unusually harsh if not outright nitpicky; feels like it was going to be longer but RE4make has been received so overwhelmingly positively there was no point - it's almost as much effort as was put into (rightfully) shitting on cyberpunk 2077.
compared to any other video game remake out there, i posit there's an important distinction to be made in RE's case: these are reimaginings, not remasters or reboots and not quite remakes, even though it's convenient to call them remakes. they have remade the game but are also telling completely different stories, going in many different directions, and there are a lot of misses but a lot of hits as well which are unique to this game versus its predecessor.
some of the worst parts of RE4(2023) for me are the lack of attention to detail and handmade feeling to every single room, and the OST. the demo is definitely guilty of making things seem better than they'd actually be, and the music is the pinnacle of that. the village ganado fight bgm is fucking awesome, feels faithful with the distortions that mimic GameCube audio compression. almost none of the other music matches up to it, and Synthetic Man echoed my sentiments: RE4make's soundtrack is largely generic cinematic audio that never makes an impact, like a lot of the maligned sony 'movie games', i.e. God of War.
