The way that I look at dog breeding is very specific.

What do you want them to do?

If you want them to go to the park, go on walks, be lovey pups, and be a general companion then you really don't need a specific breed or anything other than perhaps the size and temperament of the dog. You can get a happy and healthy mutt that will be the goodest boi for you and give you over a decade of affection and love.

But ...If you want a dog to do a specific job or behave a very specific way then this is where you will need a very specific breed. This basically would go into any dog that is in the livestock guardian dogs, farm dogs, hunting dogs, police work, seeing eye dogs etc. If you want a dog to do a specific job, you need a dog that is bred to do that job.

So before you decide what you want think specifically if there's a certain job you want it to do or if you just have a breed preference which is usually based upon the traits that the dog was bred to do. Keep in mind that if you do get a purebred dog that is built for these traits to keep at home as your love muffin, they will be very unhappy if they are not allowed to do their breed behaviors in some fashion.

Most of these arguments about what shitbull owners should or shouldn't do are pointless because good owners already follow them. And guess what? The worst, most hideously unfit, antisocial fucking trash gravitate towards pit bulls precisely because they're considered badass and aggressive. So despite "it's not the dog, it's the owner" being semi true, we have to take into account that bad owners still exist and their dogs' harm towards innocent victims won't just go away because a handful of decent people happen to be able to contain these hideous things slightly more responsibly.
You could say the exact same thing about doodle owners, who seem to be the absolute worst, most antisocial Karens (who are probably watching monkey torture while their dogs fur become a giant mat in the backyard).
If these fucking devil dogs could, they'd cannibalize each other in the womb like sharks.
Wait til you hear about what bearded dragons (and most other reptiles tbh) do to each other if you cohab them.

STEP 1: chop off your guard dog's ears to supposedly protect them from getting grabbed and bitten.
STEP 2: breed an extra 10lbs of easily grabbable, dangling skin.
STEP 3: ???
profit.
1681776349633.pngWhy the saggy doggo?

Actually I can explain this one.

When dogs or wolves are fighting they naturally will go for the head and neck. So the ears will get bitten and thus the concept was no ears or short ears keeps from a painful injury in battle. Also not everyone crops the ears. The neck being saggy helps as it's hard to grab. It would be harder to kill this dog if a wolf or other dog was fighting it.

The sagging skin on the body is actually beneficial to them as the skin helps protect against harm to their organs if in a fight. It's easier to cut skin that can heal than it is to gut the dog. It would take a lot more work for a dog to get its organs bitten off..

Cats have a natural adaptation that's similar called a primordial pouch.

So I think they were copying this idea when the breed was developed.

However the original mastiffs were a bit different looking but still had a similar look

This pic is from the 1950s. That type of collar was used basically to keep dogs or wolves from grabbing the neck. The tail is still stocky and thick, so it is not easily broken and the skin is still somewhat wrinkled and there is a primordial pooch under the stomach that prevents organs from being harmed... Although yes they have been unironed and slammed a bit

It happens shortly after, they often kill and eat they litter-mates. I've seen an image of a shitbull litter with a decapitated, gnawed on puppy head among the remaining siblings
Sure you didn't just see a still from 1b9p or similar zoosadist abuse content?

Iirc the puppy abused/raped by Tim Win and snakething was also a bully.

Facebook post from a few years ago. It got the pitmommies very upset.

Wait til you hear what rodents sometimes do to their babies, and what baby birds sometimes do to each other (some bird species apparently are obligate sibling-killers). And hell, what most reptiles normally do and why you don't cohab them (seriously ppl who cohab beardies and shit absolutely deserve to be shamed ITT).

Almost like animals are animals, and sometimes do fucked up shit because they don't understand or give a fuck about human morals.

That said, I wonder if the pup that was killed had something wrong with it? I know many animals will act aggressively towards weak/fucked up offspring.

According to the post they ate THREE of their litter mates. Reptiles and birds are one thing, but I've seriously never, ever heard of this happening amongst other breeds of dogs or even wolves when they're still puppies... I have heard about bitches getting killed by younger female dogs when they've gotten old though.

That seems weird and makes me think there were some serious husbandry issues going on. That or the post isn't exactly factual (after all, anyone can claim anything on the internet).

At least according to wiki siblicide is apparently not uncommon amongst hyenas, plus wolves have at least been documented killing pups from rival packs (which I'm pretty sure is behavior most large carnivores get up to since nature is brutal like that).

Bully breeds are powerful and can be aggressive when not properly bred or trained, but nothing about those breeds is unique to them. Not the build, not having been used in bloodsports historically, nothing. They're just dogs, and aren't even anywhere near as large and powerful as breeds like Presa canario, cane corsos, or Caucasian shepards.

The extreme hate they get seems to be part moral panic, part /pol/ faggotry, and part zoosadism.

And beyond all that, the deadliest animals (other than humans) in the US are horses and cows.

Nobody is using these saggy-skinned Neapolitan Mastiffs for any kind of working or guard purpose. They really don't need all of that extra skin - it's just so the owner can get attention for their freak show of a dog.

Actual working dogs (like police dogs or search-and-rescue dogs) don't have skin that's several sizes too big. It's just a massive hindrance.

That lion in the picture looks like an obese captive one.

Hard deflection, not relevant.

Why make excuses for these dogs? They're not gonna see this bro.

Does the saggy skin cause issues other than possible infections and eye issues when not cared for properly? I would think as long as it's not extreme and the owner cares for the dog properly, having some sag wouldn't harm the dogs too much.

Plus don't bloodhounds, which are used for police work, need some sag in order to help trap scent particles?

It's funny you mention human aggression since that's never been part of the standard for bully breeds, and dogs exhibiting human aggression are NOT the norm for the breeds and should never be bred.

Why the hate boner for any animal. Animals are just animals. More than a little reminiscent of the shit monkeyfuckers say to justify their sick shit ngl

I interpret all of those examples as GROWN wolves killing pups, that's my point. 9 weeks old puppies should not be expected to straight up eat each other unless they're starving. I do agree that it could be fake and it certainly wouldn't be the first time a bully breeder were a shit person that couldn't take proper care of their dogs either. But looking at the video of those pitbull puppies "playing" like they're trying to kill each other is just horrifying and nothing I've ever seen amongst any other puppies that small.

Yes, because dog aggression (what they were bred for) is totally desirable. And absolutely doesn't correlate in any way with other forms of aggression, such human aggression.

Calm down, are you projecting or something? I've never made any sadistic suggestions like what you're claiming, a bit sussy if you ask me. What's wrong with not wanting the normalization of dangerous animals living among people, children too? Spay, neuter, humanely euthanize dangerous dogs.

Bully breeds don't have any traits not present in other breeds. We also don't know the husbandry and care of animals presented in short clips. It's like short clips of mother macaques being violent towards their babies monkeyfuckers jerk off to and use to paint macaques are horrible evil monsters deserving of abuse (even though the behavior exhibited by thr mother macaques is almost certainly a result of them being stressed by humans).

The whole pitbull hate thing has more than a few parallels to monkey hate, way too many for me to be comfortable with. Especially since zoosadists have come into the BMT thread trying to justify both monkey torture and pitbull hate/cruelty shit.

I don't hate any animal, none of them have chosen this life for themselves. I just think it's strange to see this kind of behaviour in dogs so early on, what little I've seen of mistreated puppies before have shown them being more scared or apathetic rather than aggressive. And I am extremely suspicious of all the people that are suddenly insisting on pitbulls being a "nanny breed" and heavily marketing them as these gentle little angels, losing their shit if you question the need to keep breeding and buying them...

But now I've derailed enough, sorry. More inbred toad dog pyramid schemes, please!

Bullies, APBTs, SBTs, and other dogfighting breeds were bred and inbred for a century to maul each-other for the entertainment of sociopaths. They were bred to be aggressive (high prey-drive, which doesn't magically only apply to other dogs, which itself is also FAR from a good thing), strong, have extreme pain tolerance, large mouths, and no bite inhibition. Inbreeding is known to cause the desired changes very quickly, which likely also resulted in them being extremely neurotic, which is plain to see. All of these combined make them obviously different from other breeds, so I don't understand your point.

Also, these anecdotes are just one example among hundreds to thousands of cases of extreme violence from these breeds from just the last couple of years. There's been innumerable cases of dogs like these living in family contexts suddenly "snapping". Hundreds of people have died, thousands more permanently disfigured by dogs who are "usually so nice" and "never done that before". When the genetics kick in for whatever minute reason, it's very hard to make them go away.

Why would dogs like this be kept around people? (Besides helping normalize dogfighting breeds and letting dogman sociopaths hide in plain sight) What argument is there for not discontinuing the breed in a humane way? There are thousands of other dog breeds that besides not being neurotic mauling machines, enrich your life much more than a dogfighting breed can. They're way more people-oriented, cuter, and eager to please. If that screams monkey torture to you somehow, maybe consider that you may have a personal bias and try taking a logical approach to the issue, without projecting sadistic shit on other people.

I'll also leave it at that, this is a dfrog thread afterall. So please refrain from making dumb monkey torture parallels.

They can be gentle, but like all dogs that requires good breeding and training from an early age. The real issue with pits is like any breed that gets popular, you get a lot of dumbasses churning them out with no regard for either and a bunch of fucked up dogs as the end result. Fucked up dogs that also happen to be big and powerful can do a lot of damage.

Wouldn't doubt a lot of them aren't also inbred AF even if they aren't visually SMASHED&SLAMMED. Lord only knows how many trashy people never fix their dogs and just keep letting them continue to breed with each other in the gross backyard they're never let out of. That kind of shit seems particularly common in rural areas, at least in my state (probably b/c less ordinances and enforcement of them).

Wonder if those kind of conditions are what produced the progenitors of the "exotic bullies"? Because I highly doubt the OG toadline whatever the fuck dogs weren't also inbred as all hell.
