That's well known, isn't it? He didn't even want to do MGS IV but fan backlash forced him to direct it. He tried to get his team to take over for decades but they could never manage to get anything out without his leadership.Thats every MGS game tho, in fact, the other co writer of MGS3 was part of the franchise until V.
The biggest difference to me seems more likely that Kojima wanted to leave the series to his studio since 4.
I mean, according to fanboys Portable Ops was done mostly without him. How much input did he really have on the Acid games? (legit asking, no idea)That's well known, isn't it? Yeah, there clearly were some other devs that could do adequate jobs in KojiPro, but it may be that they didnt really know how to handle bigger projects without him, famously he stepped in to help with the development of solid rising and was the one that handed platinum the game because the team at Konami had no idea what to do with the mechanics they developed.I mean, according to fanboys Portable Ops was done mostly without him. I don't really think it was that they COULDN'T but that Konami WOULDN'T. It honestly always felt to me like Konami was not willing to let Kojima do other *major* shit besides MGS because MGS was one of their big...I guess the only word I can think of is "prestige" titles.
I don't know if that's a case of blaming Konami for not being willing to take a risk, or Kojima for making himself out to be such a cult of personality though.
I don't think he had much to do with Acid. He seems to actively dislike Portable Ops, and Konami let him do Zone of the Enders right? Konami has always been weird as fuck so it is hard to say for sure how much of the reasons for never letting Kojima step away from MGS is legitimate.I mean, according to fanboys Portable Ops was done mostly without him. In Peace Walker the characters directly shit on the events of Portable Ops so it is hard to say if they couldn't manage it or that when they did Kojima disapproved.Yeah, there clearly were some other devs that could do adequate jobs in KojiPro, but it may be that they didnt really know how to handle bigger projects without him, famously he stepped in to help with the development of solid rising and was the one that handed platinum the game because the team at Konami had no idea what to do with the mechanics they developed.
Kojima was only a producer in both ZoE games, not even sure if he had anything to do with even anything outside the ps2 gamesI don't think he had much to do with Acid. He said in an interview that he considers it partially canon.Where is everyone getting these ideas that Kojima hates portable ops? In MGS4 they show cutscenes from Portable ops and clearly recognize it as Canon. There is only one line in Peace Walker that mentions portable ops and its just Miller making a very in character reference into the events at San Heiranmo (or however you spell it) as it being a cluster fuck that they are happy to put behind them.
That's probably just him pointing out that in Portable Ops there are some side missions with major characters that don't affect the direct plot like EVA showing up. I doubt he has any disdain or ideas that the events never really happened as shown. Big Mama pretty much quotes Ocelots final line in Portable Ops about becoming the Patriots. He said in an interview that he considers it partially canon.
I'm pretty sure it's Kojima fanboys made up narrative because they can't stop pissing and shitting themselves over the fact he had nothing to do with it.Where is everyone getting these ideas that Kojima hates portable ops?
I need another Metal Gear Rising game. The gameplay, the over-the-top Shadow the Hedgehog level of edginess, and that infuriatingly unique soundtrack are all so good, I need more.Platinum's got Raiden covered, but I would have loved some more Big Boss games with actual Cold War or Cold War ish tech being used. Only watched an LP of MGS3, but it was a very nice game.
It became like those hipster indie films. They're so overly serious they wrap around and become comical again.I like the gameplay and the stories up to the point that they get fucking ridiculous. Like Metal Gear became so absurd that I stopped caring or playing them after MGS and MGS2. Now apparently Metal Gear's creator makes games where there are fetuses in jars and I just can't do it anymore, video games are just so silly. Metal Gear Solid was a real honest to goodness masterpiece though and I treasured my childhood copy of it like it was solid gold. I can't remember being that blown away by a video game ever, really.
I might go with Zack Snyder as a better comparison. It's honestly fair to compare Kojima to Christopher Nolan, as both are very shit with storytelling in their later works, but are really good with visual directing.
Don't we all? Especially given the spoiler tease ending, hrrrng...I need another Metal Gear Rising game. The gameplay, the over-the-top Shadow the Hedgehog level of edginess, and that infuriatingly unique soundtrack are all so good, I need more.
An even better comparison would be Berserk or Kill la Kill or Drake & JoshI need another Metal Gear Rising game. The gameplay, the over-the-top Shadow the Hedgehog level of edginess, and that infuriatingly unique soundtrack are all so good, I need more.
I still can't understand that anime to this day.Kill la Kill
Has good battles, good designs, its funny and it is very playful with its animation.I still can't understand that anime to this day.
What's the appealing? Is Ryuko with the battle sexual armor she have? Or there's something more?
Rising is good on its own and the best part of it is: Otacon finally being a chad
And after all, this is Trigger we're talking about, and I'm not a huge fan of their projects, but KLK is awesome.Has good battles, good designs, its funny and it is very playful with its animation.
Well clearly the magic element would be Fukushima leaving after MGS3. There's no explicit proof of that beyond speculation, but there clearly is a gigantic drop off after his departure.Thats every MGS game tho, in fact, the other co writer of MGS3 was part of the franchise until V.

Miller directly calls the events of Portable Ops "Nonsense" that they can finally leave behind at the start of Peace Walker. Which is at least dismissive if not necessarily hate.I'm pretty sure it's Kojima fanboys made up narrative because they can't stop pissing and shitting themselves over the fact he had nothing to do with it.
And yet, at the same time, the entire crux of MGS4 and the Patriot twist are set up in Portable Ops *shrug*Miller directly calls the events of Portable Ops "Nonsense" that they can finally leave behind at the start of Peace Walker. Which is at least dismissive if not necessarily hate.
The guy that wanted to get out of the series since 2001, still wanted to be the gatekeeper of a series he began to hate. Fuck him and his opinion. And yet, at the same time, the entire crux of MGS4 and the Patriot twist are set up in Portable Ops *shrug*
Like that line could literally mean anything. It could be talking about the gameplay elements that people didn't like from Portable Ops (having to drag people to trucks to recruit them for example)
Like if the idea was that it wasn't supposed to be canon or that he hates it you'd think they'd just not mention it at all.
