This case has been covered to death already. Not just an overview—we’ve gotten interrogation break downs. One of the girls is already being released and they’re all adults by now. Talk about creatively bankrupt damn.

After a while you get the desensitized after all of the child deaths especially if you look at how broken and corrupt the world is, downvote me for this but at least they don't have to put up with all the pain anymore.

Here's a Zoomer talking about the new Flash-ARG-horror wave. Full with a discussion of “muh childhood drama.” It only shows three examples: the first one is an edgy-absurd cartoon trying to emulate the Flash toons of yesteryear but it just feels really... flat?

The second one is a lame screamer from 2009 that I personally never heard of, but now teens are acting as if they grew up with it and are “traumatized” by it. The interesting bit is that they were remade not too long ago, sans the screamer and ARG elements. Personally, I think the creator thought he had a “nice” (honestly, dull) story going on but outgrew the screamer edginess of early YouTube. Whatever.

The third one is the Lacey game we discussed here not too long ago. The creator has another dresss up video of Lacey that ends with her being murdered. Yawn. I used to find Edmund McMillen's edgy dress up the dead foetus game scarier.

I can't take these seriously just as I can't take things like Gemini Home Entertainment seriously. I don't understand why a game or a piece of media needs to become “corrupted” by a family murder or something. It breaks my immersion from the getgo.

I remember a few years ago there was this fake game about an N64 programmer that made a Mario 64-like clone but became haunted by his son suicide or something. The interesting part was that this was all narrated with fake newspapers and other paratexts that are not the main game. I think the game wasn't even released but was just a showcase for YouTube video essays. It was lame as well, but honestly, it was a lot more interesting than this other “horror” stuff.

In my opinion, horror is just a hard genre to pull correctly because of the required immersion, but also because overexposing or revealing too much about your monster or whatever is the main thing that makes any horror project fail. We're scared of the unknown, we don't need a 2 hour video talking about how it's all perfectly comprehensible for our simian brains.

Apparently, the guy tried to make what can only be described as some sort of sick elaborate prank/failed ARG out of her disappearance by making a bunch of incredibly disturbing other videos about it, and creating a bunch of fake clues.

When he was called out for being an absolute fucking psychopath, he literally said what was happening to him was the "beginnings of fascism" before going off on one of the most bizarre "We live in a society" rants I've ever seen.

idk if its exactly a creepypasta but petscop its the only thing of that style that i like every other "haunted game" its so cheesy and overdone

it nails the ps1 aesthetic, feels like an actual game, no overly creepy imagery or le epic monster or demon, just pure good mystery with enough clues to put the pieces together, even if it was a lil popular at his peak (mostly because of pyrocinical) its sad how more bland stuff is way more popular, maybe if it had more jumpscares and cutesy characters with bloody eyes zoomers would had liked it more
