you know what's worse? TM has a few black characters that could be used for many actors but they use TM2's thumper driver to pick the black gay kiss actor as well as making it look like some weird gay death race knockoff minus the prison setting.

To be fair
to Sony, I don't see this affecting anything. We're at the point where people who want consoles will get them, and those who want pcs will build them, with some hybrid owners sprinkled throughout. There's not going to be a mass exodus of PS5 owners to pc because of this, it's more for people who never would have gotten a PS5 to begin with.

However it's still not great news for their actual userbase that Sony is going to focus more on other platforms than their own current customers.

They're pitching this as a comedy set in the post-apocalypse.

TM was neither.
TM had a B-Movie exploitation feel with Calypso's tournament being very underground, less than 12 hours long, and only for "elite" drivers. A car kumite of sorts.
TM2 had some dark comedy elements but wasn't oozing of Whedonisms and James Gunn soy pandering tropes like this trailer showed.
TM3... ok yeah TM3 was pretty shit lore-wise but it still not as bad as this.
TM4, the execution was terrible and some drivers were buns but the idea wasn't bad and that soundtrack slaps.
TMB, I won't even bother explaining TMB since TMB will never be adapted faithfully in our current socio-political climate, or even touched with a 30-foot pole by Sony or Comcast.
TMHO, see TM2.
TM2011, still not the post-apocalypse. Still not a light-hearted comedy.

Great, so two Jews gave themselves a payday by selling their 2-second generic idea and some gentile was paid to mix that with TM in the vaguest way possible.
It's not even "based on the game", it's "we had a shit idea but needed a brand to tie it with".
It's Child's Play 2019 all over again.
