Dudes on that subreddit noticed this that I found very interesting:

Notice how it cuts so James and the cart getting destroyed are not in the same shot. He couldn't even be asked to film himself smashing a game cart. Jesus.

A ton of mistakes and things he got wrong as well. Big one was calling the obvious Night At Bald Mountain music Ride of the Valkyries.

Carlos Alborghetti, a brazilian radio host, asked about if he would a hair transplant, replied:
"Dude, if hair was important, it wouldn't grow in the asshole. In the asshole! If you don't clean your asshole right, little shit pieces will get stuck in the ass' hair. Look, [...] My hair is like that, I have personality, I won't change the way I am. My head is like this, my face is like that. Like my appearance or not, it's fine. The one who should care is my wife. [...] I look like this. " . (Also, his co-host calls him cute in a jokingly way).

This is a reply I would expect from old AVGN (both played foul mouthed and angry personas), but James is too insecure with his own appearance to address it. And to be frank, it wouldn't shut up the weens at r/cinemassacretruth, but give them more material to mock Bimmy.

Or just give the character a hat, he already changed the old shirt for that awful one, anything is better than the post death Alex Murphy look imo
I don't want to be a dick either but I had to literally lol at the Robocop comparison. I remember Bimmy doubling down on that retarded shirt with all the buttons on it, he's probably doing the same with his 6-head now.

Watched the new episode. It was…fine. Nothing really terribly good or bad about it. The part where he brings the hammer down on the game though just felt so forced and rote. He doesn’t even pretend to get pissed and go to town on it like he used to.

Like others have said, I just can’t stop staring at the IMAX screen that is his forehead now. Just shave it and go bald, James. Even Doug was smart enough to do that when he started losing his hair.

The sonofabitch dropped his little video so I will publicly suck myself off and see how good were my predictions. Out of 19 predictions I got 6 wrong... I bolded those and I think that's kind of sad that the show is so autopilot that I got that much correct.
Upon reflection -and to further publicly fellate my sense of ego before the inevitable and pathetic fall from grace- I think I only got 5 wrong. I was right that he would make a big deal about the Cave Salamander level from EWJ 2. I thought it was going to be a more elaborate kind of sketch with green screen and maybe other actors on a game show kind of thing but he even fucked that up.

It's universally agreed that EWJ 2 is easier than the first. It has infinite continues and even passwords. That's why it was weird when he said it was harder. I would say the only truly difficult levels in EWJ 2 are the Puppy Love mini games (that can't be skipped not unless you use a cheat code) and the final level but that's appropriate for obvious reasons.

Two things I noticed:

One, he claims the cow you launch has nothing to do with the rest of the game (even though he mentions it coming up in the ending) but like, doesn't the cow make cameos thoughought the game? I recall seeing it in the Peter Puppy level.

Two, he doesn't mention the version differences, like how Intestinal Distress is missing from the SNES (hey, that rhymed!)

I was actually kinda weirded out by him breaking the cartridge. I noticed the hammer never actually hits. It makes me think that he somehow happened to have an already-broken copy (or a different Genesis game he just put a fake label on) for that bit. I hope so... EWJ if he's gonna sacrifice for a joke, I don't want it to be a game people actually care about. Break one of the millions of sports games instead.

..................

..... as for EWJ itself.... my own memory of this series was it felt very much like the definition of "fifteen minutes of fame." When it came out I remember people loved it and a lot of kids in my class were all over it.... but it faded quickly. I recall only being vaguely aware that sequels, cartoons, and comics were a thing, and nobody I knew ever sought them out. Jim's star shone brightly but brief.

The sense I get from EWJ2 and 3D is that... the first game was weird but it had a sort of cohesiveness to it, but the later two felt like they were weird for the sake of being weird. And maybe that's the problem--the series got a little too weird and it turned people away.

You do see the cow throughout the game and the game reminds you when the cow moos as it passes by.

I'm surprised he never said "don't have a cow, man."

At this point its hard to say which cow we mean... the cow in the game, or the lolcow under discussion. On that note I did kinda like the dad puns thoughout the review. "I'm just briefing you on the situation" in a section involving underwear etc.

Anyway, I'm an idiot and I forgot to point out one part that REALLY bugged me.... If there's any example of how AVGN is past his glory days, its his tendency to repeat jokes from his older episodes.

With EWJ it was during the second game's review where to illustrate how weird it is, he comes up with his own hypothetical weird game of seemingly random concepts.... which sounds almost exactly like the joke he made about Attack of the Mutant Penguins back in his Atari Jaguar video.

Not even a new phenomenon, as I recall the Taito Legends review also feeling like an attempt to do something similar to his Action 52 video... just, Taito Legends is actually good (both the compilation and the actual video).

Isn't repeating AVGN jokes something people used to get onto Chris Bores for doing? Some days its like James is his very own Irate Gamer.

These past four years have been unkind to his hairline, but at least he got rid of the little separate island of hair that was on his forehead before. Personally, I think he should just go full-on bald. It would become the start of the "Bruce Willis" era of the Nerd.

James still seems low energy and tired of the Nerd persona and that hairline is oof, but is he still affiliated with those Screenwave guys? The writing seems not as...bad as the episodes they had a big hand in. While this wasn't a standout episode by any means, it definitely felt more "classic" Nerd to me.

Haven't seen the new review yet, might look into it later. (I unsubscribed years ago, so I only notice it if the algorithm recommends it).

I always liked it when James just talked about the game itself, maybe throw in some facts or context surrounding the creation of the game, and threw in a few crude jokes here and there (fewer crap jokes and more just being a nasty piece of work as per the character). No bullshit skit stuff (I hate to say it, but James is probably to blame for that awkward phase where every YouTuber with a camera put in stupid skits in their videos; unless you're someone funny like E;R or Red Letter Media, you're better off even not bothering at all).

I'm less bothered by Jame's balding (short of hair plugs, there's little men can do about that) but rather how much his attire has changed over the years. I know it sounds dumb, but I always thought dressing in those short sleeves makes him look less like a nerd and more like a jock pretending he's a nerd. I always liked the long sleeves look the best.

Is it just me or does he look kinda Jaundice in the new episode?

The credits show Kieran has been replaced by Screenwave employee Sean O'Rourke, also host of film podcast Movie Dumpster
I would leave if I wasn't paid shit.
There were post saying that Bimmy seems like nice guy. He really has to be dumbest fuck, clueless, to not see that people are paid nothing or less and don't give a shit. Or just well-masking scumbag.
