Market Garden was an attempted landing behind enemy lines to quickly reach rhine and go into germany without having to fight for a crossing. Landings in normandy were to establish second front. Quite different situations.
Yes, Market Garden was a bad (British) idea, and Normandy was a good (American) idea. See also: Pershing vs the British on tactics in WW1. At least in the 20th century, we were just better at land war than you. Of course, now we're more like you were then - really good at war when we're fighting against medieval savages, not so good when the other guys know what they're doing.
