Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

They will be on Switch Online soon enough.

The best part of the DS Zelda games was the puzzle where you had to close your system to discover the map. Everything else was mostly ass. I really hated the centralized dungeons.
The best part of the DS duo is that their control scheme is so retarded that they can never be ported and thus nintendo cannot waste time bringing them to modern hardware.

I pirated the first one and barely even started it from just seeing that control scheme and noping out. I can't believe they make a second one like that. The DS was great but holy shit man, they went full retard on some games.

There are cheat codes that map the d-pad to move and buttons to attack and interact, game works fine like that but you probably still want to use touch for the boomerang and stuff.

All I can remember from Phantom Hourglass was drawing my sailing route on the touch screen and that the art style wasn't very appealing. It either didn't have any memorable moments, or my brain is too old and clogged with tumors to remember. I'm hoping on the former but betting on the latter.

It's largely the former, considering how the "fun" stuff is mainly the various late game bosses and that Linebeck's introductory scene

I am only familiar with one or two scenes.

1. That "explanation" theme is worse than the graphics
2. Ol' Lady Engine needs a new set of wheels
3. Ghost Zelda needs to lay off the ethereal energy drinks
4. It's very goofy, but pretty funny

The only bad part was that tower you has to redo every time you went up a floor, it wasn't even a good "dungeon" without the repetition.

I think they pretty much avoided that problem in ST though, if I recall.

I can see how the controls can be a turn off, but they're both pretty underrated if you can adapt to them. Linebeck is one of the best characters in the franchise imo and Zelda is much more prominent in both than she usually is, especially ST.

There's really cool towns too, some of the best in the series. Might be worth going back to give another shot.

I forgot to mention in my earlier post that the most satisfying way to kill enemies in the top-down Zeldas is by throwing shit at them, especially in LttP, because the throwing animation is a fast, straight line. It's always fun to kill a hyrule guard with a bush, a buzz blob with a rock, and yeet a hardhat beetle down a hole with a pot in the Tower of Hera.

The most memorable thing about Phantom Hourglass for me was Linebeck and his spats with fairy companion. They seemed like good characters, but the fact that he's completely useless and that the game's visuals and mechanics were unseemly made the game a bit irritating to sit through, and the ending kind of pissed me off because they couldn't decide if any of that actually happened or it was just a dream, even though there wasn't any need to and they could've just said it takes place in a neighboring sea. Despite that, I did like Spirit Tracks more (more than Skyward Sword at least), but I think both games were better off as console releases.

To be frank, I would've preferred a new Zelda console game that takes place after Spirit Tracks showing off a more industrial Hyrule (instead of a post-apocalyptic wasteland) and explaining the ultimate fate of the Great Sea/Old Hyrule and its previous cast of characters. Maybe even show what happened to the other lost races too.

Tears of the Kingdom has leaked and the XCI is out in the wild. I'm downloading it right now so I can let you guys know how much of it is DLC. For those that care about spoilers, go offline until the game comes out I guess

EDIT: Torrent being leeched hard, anywhere from 3 hours to 8 hours. Yuzu can't run it (because its shit), Ryujinx can but it runs poorly. I'm going to play on my actual Switch, but SD card is slow so it will take even longer.
