Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

Somehow this topic came up at work and I'm super impressed at how these people have "walkable cities" as somehow inherently better just because they are. It's really easy to say trains are better than all other forms of personal transport when you just refuse to acknowledge any of their shortcomings. Indirect routing? Just build more trains 5head, and sure it takes a bit more time but you can use that time for other things! Crime? Not a thing and even then just put more police officers (Also, ACAB!)

For every single stupid point you debunk they somehow find more stupid arguments from their fav meme youtuber (yes including muh europe), and it's just exhausting to try and deboonk it all so you have to give up.

What a bunch of whiny faggots. They complain about particle pollution coming from tyres, but have no issue consuming their soyslop out of plastic bottles. They complain about imperialism in the middle east, but have no issues forcibly exporting buttsex around the globe. They complain about car loans, but their next funko pop collection certainly has been paid by credit cards. Their depression is caused by their urbanist lifestyle, as is their isolation. Higher taxes are a result, primarily, of the government being retarded and subsidizing urbanite shithives. What is "inefficient" land use? Fuck the bugpeople. Putin should launch his 8k or so nukes on the cities.

I'm not against cars existing, I just think there are more efficent ways of transportation. For example, a car only holds 4 people but a bus holds at least 57. It also can reduce traffic congestion
Sure.

A bus is very efficient at transporting people if the only factor was density. However, there are other factors such as time, personal efficiency, privacy, comfort, and safety.

Unless your job is driving your own car(Pizza Delivery, etc) you're not being discriminated against for not having a car, you're being discriminated against for not having reliable transportation and being able to get to work on time. I have never once had an employer ask how I get to work in an interview they just care it's reliable no matter if walking, bicycling, driving, surfing or whatever.

A good way not to get a job is to show up late to an interview and blame the bus/train/friend/whatever.
I'll have to dig up the resources, but there is some data that supports that having a car opens up more job opportunities than just riding a bus.

But I'd be hard-pressed to think that this was a change after cars came around, because the same thing was probably in effect for horses. And if you "lived near your work" back then you probably had something profoundly shitty and low-paying, like living next to a rendering plant.

The difference is, horses were nearly always the domain of those wealthy enough to be able to stable them, or those who absolutely required them for their occupation. A farm might have a cart horse for hauling and ploughing and other general work, and obviously a ranch or livestock farm would have some horses for workers to manage livestock (though that goes back to being wealthy, to a degree), but your typical working villager or townsman - even out in the far reaches of the American west - would generally only see horses used for hauling things. They wouldn't own one. The closest they'd get to riding one would be in the back of a hackney or its equivalent, or on other early, horse-drawn public transport. In fact, the vast, vast majority of horses in the late 19th century were used in urban environments, taking the role of trucks, vans, buses and taxis. In rural areas, there might have been one horse to every four or five adults at most. That's assuming equal distribution of people and horses.

Once it became affordable to the masses, the car completely revolutionised society in ways that most people couldn't have predicted. It became the horse everyone could afford. It opened up ways of living that had been unimaginable for all but a tiny minority of the population.

yeah... no fucking shit you can go further faster with a car and can carry more stuff more conveniently and dont have to wait for the bus so you can apply to jobs further away. also if you dont live in walking distance from your job you unlock night shift jobs where you work after public transport closes

Look at them, stuck in that tube, fish in a tank. It's fucking cope and everyone in fuckcars knows it. My car may be a beater from 05, had its fair share of repairs, has its quirks, but it's far better than being stuck in a can in INDIA. There's undoubtedly groping and assaults going on in there, which in my Hyundai XG350, isn't a issue, not unless someone wants me to exercise my second amendment rights.
EDIT: I know I'm late, but to get into the Maverick debate, I like it. Yes it's a suv with a truck bed. I still see workers using it because it fills a niche. And it's cute. Still want the old mini trucks back but we're getting there.

Found this beautiful wonder of design; stupid idiots designing shit isn't only for cars!

Now this article doesn't really go into detail, but here's the problem:

Agreed, the redditor assuming that the people some how want to be taking the subway because they're there, is like seeing a homeless man eating from the trash and being like, "see people actually want to eat from the trash can." The problem is they have no choice because they live in a very densely populated area. This is the logical conclusion of what happens when you promote cramming people into these cities like the fuckcars people do. I bet if you actually let those Indians chose if they would want their own private vehicles, most would.

In the place where I live a lot of the Indian immigrants tend to move to a specific suburb in my town and own cars, often multiple. Most people outside of reddit bugmen want to own their own property, even overseas immigrants.

It's almost frightening how often these people gesture towards third world people in third world countries doing third world things and using that as some sort of "see? It's actually normal, bigot!" The most recent example I can think of is the push for bug-eating being normalized by shit like "the Chinese and South Americans do it!", totally ignoring that the only reason they do it is because of food scarcity forcing them towards it. Okay to be fair with South Americans it's because their bugs are the size of your fist but you get the point, most people will eat fish, beef, and chicken over bugs if it is offered to them. During the start of COVID I was half-expecting journos to run articles on how Chinese wet markets aren't that bad and you're a bigot if you don't want to eat the poo-poo fried bat. You know what else is normal in third-world countries? Dying of preventable infections and basic services going out for days at a time. Doesn't mean we should try 'em here.

White people don't season their bugs.

Well, they kind of did in early 2020. Remember all the tweets of US-politicians about how it would be LE RECYS to avoid large crowds or chosing to stay away from celebrations for the Chinese New Year. Only to do a 180 not even six months later. Journos, politicians, corporate executives - they have zero convictions. Reminds me of a particular annoying other group: bugmen.

These psychotic maniacs really think that "capitalism" is the issue when the reality is that we're in a far more socialist world than ever. Hell these same fucktards think that the big car companies are issues when they're the ones that have to lobby for the government to stop fucking around (with the occasional patent bullshit that exists in all markets that shouldn't exist anyways), and even then the insane MPG regulations created by the EPA (that are pretty much never met, btw) HAVE to be abided by because climate change.

You'll also note for third-world countries, their roadway systems are ALWAYS full, even the "four-lane" carriageways look like something even the Mississippi Department of Transportation would be embarrassed of.

This is why freeways scare them so much. "Induced demand" is not just "HURR DURR DON'T EXPAND THE FREEWAYS IT'S POINTLESS" but also the fact that they don't want to admit that people all over the world would prefer to drive, and they don't want to admit that.

I'm starting to see a lot of lower trim versions of these essentially just being used as work trucks in the same way older Rangers were, which makes a lot of sense.

Well you don't always need a F150. Sometimes you just need to carry a few guys and their tools, which also drastically saves fuel

I found one of these types in the wild on some shitty history meme account on Instagram.

It was on this commercial saying the same exact thing. Not gonna screenshot anything bexause it's the usual tards who think trains magically solve everything. A few gems were people who say those of us who hate the idea of government providing all transportation should shut up because duh gubmint pays for roads (Even though it's the local and state governments that maintain them for the most part) and freeways are a lot uglier than train tracks.

Yes, some dumbass thinks there are freeways going all across rural areas. This really shows how isolated bugmen are in their awful bughives.

I'll start riding buses when homeless, drug addicts, and trashy people are kept out of them.

They hate this commercial because it makes them look ridiculous. Walking is slow as shit, especially when you have families. Try carrying 4 kids on a bike.

Buses are only more efficient when they're full or mostly full. The way public transportation is offered with empty buses and dead times means it's basically a wash as far as "efficiency" goes.
