This game didn’t have a specific thread so I thought I’d make one for it. It’s also a place where I can autistically sperg about FFXVI without polluting the general Final Fantasy thread. What do kiwis think about this game?

has the same combat designer as DMCV and a similar scoring system apparently, so i was interested, then learned it's a PS5 exclusive, so I'm not interested.

play it in a year or two after release if it comes to PC.

Final Fantasy has been heavily inspired by western fantasy since the first game which was released before Dragon Age, Game of Thrones, and The Witcher. What are you talking about?

FFTactics is some of the most Game of Thrones shit before GoT entered public awareness (yes I know the books are older, but almost no one reads fantasy novels) and for better and for worse YoshiP likes Matsuno's works as FF14 is a pretty political story in significant chunks of the story just like FFT was. FF16 is trying to be some western political fantasy drama just like FFT, if it'll succeed is an entirely different story that we can't know until it comes out.

There's a scene in one of the trailers where I guess the main character is helping someone get on a chocobo to escape only to see the chocobo get shot in the head by someone from a distance. The blood splatters all over the person, and the guy who shoots the chocobo shows up. I could have sworn there's a scene like this in one of the game's trailer. It probably wasn't from point blank, but it was a wtf for me even though you've seen chocobos get hurt in other games like FF14's ARR trailer (the one where you see Bahamut nuke everything).

There’s some clever censorship in FFXIV where Teledji Adeledji gets cut in half, but the game still keeps its T rating. Anyway, if a chocobo getting shot is violent, Clives dad gets decapitated.

Matsuno wrote a GoT-like story with Tactics Ogre before GRRM even published ASoIaF. That said, I would not be surprised people in his staff were inspired by GoT too since you can see references in HW and XVI was greenlit during the peak of its popularity.

Is it because Kojima recently said he liked a thing that Twitter doesn’t consider “progressive” enough? Because I heard something about that recently.
