Well, good news everyone. One of the last bastions of Tolkien's legacy has fallen.

You can now be an obese black woman with a beard and man-faces on a game that was directly involved with the Tolkien foundation for its lore and designs.

This is one of the few content creators working on the topic.

Standing Stone Games has been meticulously deleting people's comments on their forced diversity changes and permanently banning people from their forums and the game for questioning it.

So, why not a thread where it wouldn't be censored discussion?

The reasons why it should be its own thread and not in the culture wars:
1. This change was done out of the blue.
2. This is actively unfolding - the developers are actively silencing and banning people while gaslighting that it's because they're racist or transphobic.
3. They're likely doing this as a test-run to see if it works on Dungeons and Dragons Online (Cardovan, the main dev in this case) is head of DDO. This makes it an active experiment to see if they can do this to their other games.
4. They essentially broke their game models in the rush to push this. When reason #1 says out of the blue. They announced it at the start of a week and released it by the next week with little to no testing. The videos below show what they did in this neurotic push.
5. They're actively banning anyone who even respectfully questions them.

In addition to the list above:

They've not only broken models, but animations, character facial expressions, and, effectively, plan to do the same for every race in their game.

They are also planning on adding shared racials - making race (Hobbit, Elf, etc.) pointless by allowing you to do whatever else is in the game in some mad push for all of this.

Is it really too much to ask of the videomaker to have some nerd ranting and raving about why they're wrong and stupid? I was hoping for that instead of these terrible flute edits.
Eh, the person hates the devs, not the game.

If you go to their channel, they were on a """""secret"""" alpha server (that everyone knows about), but only content creators and super-old players have access to. Whenever he asked them why they were doing this, they banned him. He posts his galleries and such in his descriptions.

The devs lost their ever-loving minds and are not just banning, but PERMANENTLY banning anyone who questions them to the point their own forums are emptying out.

Good.

I never liked LOTRO much. Pretty maps and good music were about all it had going for it. I've heard the current devs are some outsourced group that don't even have the original source code nor do they know how to work the nearly 16-year-old engine fully, so it's not surprising to see it crash and burn. Maybe a little since it's over forced "diversity" bullshit and not a major game exploit or something.

While I don't want to defend them.

1. The devs are not outsourced. Standing Stone Games' devs are some of the original developers for LOTRO. Orion came back, for one. They have some crossover with DDO employees (Cordovan).
2. In the past 2 years, they had made great strides in improving player relations and the game was coming back to life. They made all content to level 95 free, provided expansions for free during anniversaries (the COVID one), and were actively listening to players.
3. They've improved upon the engine, introduced entirely new mechanics.
4. They were on a major upswing and LOTRO had started becoming profitable - majorly so that they were starting to devote resources to it again. As soon as they started making enough profit - this happened.

Seeing an ancient lord of the rings game get a free D.I.E makeover.
I am happy SWG did not live to see the age of globohomo. The SWG legends devteam is too busy adding content at a marginally faster pace than SWGEMU to add troon content.
The unmitigated autism required to play SWG would have been ripe for troonification though.

This is always how it starts folks. One minute they're letting you play as a fat black bearded tranny in a video game and the next they're forcing you to eat estrogen-infused bugs while getting the covid vaccine (which also contains estrogen).

Fuck this stupid and gay world. I enjoyed playing this as a kid just like Dnd online and now look at both of them.

Hows the saying go, if you dont die a hero you live to become a villain or something? If a media franchise doesn't wither and leave pop culture, it eventually gets the nigger faggot treatment.

I kinda have to wonder if this isn't going to open them up to some lawsuits. It is a "free to play" game but ultimately a lot of players have spent money on the game expecting a product, due to their marketing, that was lore friendly and that product has suddenly been changed to something which certainly isn't lore friendly. Grated US courts are pretty cucked, but this doesn't really seem like that much of a reach for a class action lawsuit since there has been prior precedent with games like Aliens: Colonial Marines which was really much less egregious since that was mostly due to incompetency whereas this seems to be a deliberate attempt to be harmful to a large portion of the player base.

I will laugh my fucking ass off if troon and diversity shit is what somehow kills EULAs.
