The Glenn Show- I Feel Therefore I am |

John McWhorter and Mark Goldblatt discuss how the woke left elevates subjective experience over provable, objective fact. They spend some time on how the rape accusation against Kavanaugh should be discounted on the basis of the lack of objective evidence. No if's, no buts, no evidence no consideration.
They move on to discuss troons. Somehow troons are different: it is objectively false that humans can change sex. However, the only issues they see are bathrooms (where McWhorter says 'we' [women] should make accommodations), and sports (with which Goldblatt is uncomfortable... and says nothing more about it). For Goldblatt the only thing that matters is the damage done to our ability to have any kind of discussion when we don't care about what's actually true. McWhorter, who is upfront about the fact that he hasn't thought deeply about any of this because he thinks it's disturbing but does think troons can't be mentally ill because there's too many of them for that to be the case, really, really wants to give whatever is asked for.
Notably, none of these three dudes seem to have any fucks to give about the obvious costs that will be paid primarily by women, on whose behalf they feel they can make concessions to troons. In fact, it's almost like women don't even exist at all during this discussion, let alone as stakeholders. Also notable: despite the fact that they only have only the mildest of concerns about opening up women's single sex spaces to men, this video was taken down from Youtube because of supposed hate speech. Glenn Loury is justifiably miffed over that..
Look at these dudes. They don't for a second buy that you can actually change sex or that the declaration of such has any real meaning. And yet, somehow, the real world consequences of this truth claim never enter into the discussion. Put a troon in a women's prison and let him rape his way through it? That's disturbing, so let's not think about it. Women's sports becoming little more than third rate men competing against women taking gender affirming steroids? Kind of uncomfortable. But don't you fucking dare call McWhorter a transphobe.
I wasn't sure if I should even post this. It's not really hitting on funny or fucked up shit about the trans rights movement other than the strange ease with which women seem to vanish from consideration. I'm also a little worried that this comes uncomfortably close the to TRA battle cry of "My existence isn't up for debate!". But these guys talking about how our beliefs must comport with reality, while also saying be kind and let men into women's bathrooms because that's not such a big deal? Facts matter, but let's not bother with things like athletics records and demographics information?
Maybe this is a good summary, both the video and my salt:
Why not let them call themselves women? It's only words, people who have a cervix.

The real issue isn't the juggernaut in a skirt cracking women's skulls in MMA, it's that it's making it hard for me to talk about politics.
