What happened?

Nick's copes about the case aren't even interesting anymore. They basically all boil down to "I'm right, but that doesn't mean the judge is smart enough to realize I'm right". It's an attitude that is always a road block to communication but has quickly become a road block for entertainment as well.

Nick's thread was really fun for a while because it was fascinating witnessing the downfall and seeing how he handled it and if he would indeed "pull up". Now it feels like Nick is just down there, like a homeless drunk on the street you're forced to step over on the way to work.

I brought this up yesterday, but it's kind of scary how fast he's gone full DSP. It's just constant complaints about how tough his job is and how he doesn't have time to do anything, how many chores he has to do, how terrible his detractors are, and of course, how much money he has to pay for things.

Except Nick's "muh bills" is more ridiculous than DSP because he's mainly complaining about his legal fees, which are entirely self-inflicted. I suspect he learned something that contradicted his ideas about what was going to happen with the ethics complaint. They may well have asked even more questions which went in a direction Nick doesn't like. These days, Nick just doesn't do well when the world contradicts his expectations of whats going to happen in the legal system. I suspect as well that if the judge doesn't agree to his motion to dismiss, there is going to be an unprecedented explosion.

He was always on somewhat more shaky ground with that particular ethics complaint because depending on the dates, he could be found to have been acting as an attorney at the time in question. It was never any kind of slam dunk for him on that complaint even though he seemed to think it was. An ethics complaint with a direct tie to him acting in his professional capacity is far more dangerous than him just spurging on the internet.

As far as taking it to the supreme court, there are lots of expensive steps and several years of litigation to go through before there is any question of going to the supreme court. If he decides to go after the OLPR, he will likely be doubling down on his legal expenses.

As far as I know, the Lolbertarian Party doesn't run any statewide candidates in Minnesota these days. They didn't run a candidate for state AG in 2022. The party's whole focus right own is on winning a single seat in the state legislature. They have not been able to come close to doing even that.
