It's tedious enough when Steve-O does nothing but bang on about his recovery and he's a personable guy who has actually stopped substance abuse.

Some of you people are extremely stupid. I believe people can show remorse, I think people can change for the better. I even think Ralph is capable of this, but you're extremely exceptional if you think Ralph's behavior currently means shit. His wife left him, he's alone in the world, his money is running out, it's in his best interest to hold these humble pity parties for himself. He has something to gain from this behavior currently. None of this means shit until he keeps it up after getting what he wants or when he's denied what he wants.

If may comes back to him or she tells him it's not going to happen and he STILL keeps up this attitude, I might think Ralph has turned a corner. But at the moment his goal is to get Amanda back and squeeze out pity-dono's. If this isn't good enough, his recent "I'm sorry I did X but you kinda retroactively deserved it tho...." tweets show you that he's not fully committed to this.

I'm enjoying the pity party to be honest. It's nice to see the depths of Ralph's low-level cunning and desperate manipulation on full display. It would be nice to see May hold out and not be an utter dipshit and make the most of life outside the sektur, but ultimately it's a win win.

May finally ate the crow and went home. She is stupid, but I think the fact she took that plunge means total sever. She ate Ralph's rancid shit for a long time but held out way longer than any sane woman would have ever done, so I think going home was decision of finality. May's entire family, with the exception of Harry until the last six months, has been like WTF are you doing (plus the entire online community laughing) and she dug her heels in deeper. To finally admit everyone else was right and go home means she is done, things were so hopeless and grim eating crow and accepting defeat was preferable to living one more day with Gunt.

The longer she is gone the less chance she will ever go back. Keeping her isolated and caring for the baby 24/7 was psychologically important to her staying with Ralph. Her entire, sad, small social universe came by proxy and it was parasocial sectur BS.

If May starts integrating into society she will be gobsmacked by what a shitty life she's been living. I don't think May understands much about romantic relationships but she was totally clueless about parenting as a couple, which is why Ralph tried make her believe in the BS right wing trad bullshit that's sold online as if it's reality. Problem was the trad fantasy sold online looks nothing like the shitshow they were living. She got the "you do all the child care, clean the house and stay skinny" end of the deal, but without the financial stability, decent home, supportive church community or the fit, sober, hard working husband. Instead she got a fat, smelly, angry, drug addicted, alcoholic retard that liked to publicly brag about banging her to her dad on twitter. Ralph made humilating May a public sport for the past year. The minute she stopped being financially subsidized by her dad he was angry and turned the screws way harder.

If she gets out enough to interact with other moms, or parents her age, her yardstick for "normal" will be blown the fuck out the window. Ralph convinced her a controlling, abusive relationship was normal. Had he not been eating 30mg of xanax a day he probably could kept her under this delusion for a few years if they stayed isolated in Mexico. Being among the dreaded normies will only show May what an absolute chump she's been for the last three years to tolerate Ethan Ralph.

Also I think a fat poor "sober" repentant groveling Ralph has even less appeal to her than obnoxious, angry drunk Ralph. His recent live journal entry indicates she's done too. If Ralph is begging that there might be a "chance" they reunite then in reality she's said it's fucking over, but because it's Ralph (and May has put up with all his stupid abuse for years) he's thinks he can talk her back into being his servant and delivery girl somehow.

You answered your own question partially. The other part being he's a lazy, lonely faggot.
He's stuck renting his garbage little shack in hot ass Mexico, alienated from the locals because no one can stand being around him, and he has to take care of his own house and all the other things he relied on Meigh doing.

What really burns him more than anything though. What really burns his ass, is that every day he can't hold up Meigh and his unwanted child as trophies, is one extra day that the a-logs have won. He doesn't give a good goddamn about Rozy, and if he could, he'd probably suffocate, encase her in resin, and hang a plaque on the front with the words. "Proof Ralph is better than Josh."

That child has literally no other purpose to Ralph. If anything, she's an anchor that costs him money, because he doesn't see a world where he'll live long enough to whore her out for money, either online or IRL.

You answered the question. He's lonely. Except it's worse, he's actually alone. Isolation is arguably one of the worst things a person can go through, regardless if it's self-imposed or not. Even extreme introverts that enjoy alone time need authentic human interaction.

Look at it from a higher perspective, there are 0 real relationships to be found. His surviving family is a brother who Ralph clearly never bonded with and uncles/aunts that are arms length at best.

Everyone else he knows are e-friends that Ralph saw as tools for him more than anything else. All of those were/are were surface-level friendships at best. Dick clearly only interacts with Ralph when he feels like it and Amanda could only handle the downward trajectory and isolation for so long before she took the first easy opportunity to bounce.

That's ignoring everything else he's got going on, but losing May put him in a bad spot that he's trying to panic fix right now.
