Nick has not really appeared on any other shows much since the end of Murdaugh where he flipped his lid on 'jury analysis'. By the end of that trial, Nick was totally checked out and there was definitely a different panel dynamic where legal content was discussed without Nick's involvement. Kurt even got in a few digs at Nick.
Kiwi's not letting me reply to your whole post - so odd when that happens.
The anniversary of the Depp/Heard decision is an apt time to see where everyone has on LawTube has landed... or is it just me who's nerding out?
1) The Redpilled Angry Bois: Declining. It's pretty bad across the board.
Nick's numbers are down across platforms (I'm ignoring Rumble subs bc their #s are fuckery), Mindset is stagnant at 93K subs so he's created the MGTOW second channel called GoEastGentlemen (2.5K subs on 160 vids?? Ooof). I don't track Branca but I doubt he's grown and I seldom see him on panels anymore.
- Redpilled adjacent: Legal Vices and Good Lawgic are declining - both have been complaining about losing subs. Despite huge efforts on Joe's part, he can't break 100K. They're blaming YT but are confused.
- Orbiters: Megan Fox recently said on Vices channel that she may quit. DaniOnDirect seems to have been scared off by Nick. She's struggling to get to 10K but recently did some quality work covering Daybell's audio only trial. She's leaning into the Law&Lumber crowd. The one successful exception: Andrea Burkhart has quietly built up an impressive 68K subs on only 75 (mostly pre-recorded) vids in which she almost exclusively covers the law (imagine!). I've not seen her on a panel in months.
2) The Moderates: Flat but maintaining... ???
Includes Ian/Runkle, Rob/Law&Lumber, and Larry/DUI Guy - all of whom came up with Depp. They all seem to have a nice cult-of-personality thing going on but they're barely discussing the law. Bytes seems to be doing just fine despite the dumb dust up with Mindset and Nick. She's sticking to mostly law and got great views with the Paltrow trial. Hoeg just had a stroke so I won't count him. LawyerYouKnow pretty much does his own thing - almost exclusively law - and his view counts are solid. NatalieLawyerChick (left leaning) survived her twitter dust up with Branca and pulled huge numbers (for her) covering the Daybell trial.
3) The Do-Your-Own Thing Ninjas: This politically diverse crowd seems to be doing VERY well - thanks very much.
- Emily D Baker - Pulled ridiculously big view numbers with the Paltrow trial (which, contrary to Nick's comments, was highly entertaining). Her combo of pre-recorded vids and live streaming works well. On a large base over of 700K subs she recently gained 5K.
- Nate the Lawyer - His editor/producer needs a damn award. Nate does mostly pre-recorded vids. His top five viewed vids - all very recent covering trans athletes - have gone pretty viral with over 1M views each. He's recently gained 4K subs on a solid base of almost 300K subs. (Nate will sometimes mix it up with other LawTubers - recently with the Bouzy mess - but tends to stay fairly independent.)
- The Lead Attorney - This guy has quietly amassed over 300K subs with mostly pre-recorded vids covering family law and African American cases. View counts aren't huge but he still maintains an active practice so I doubt he cares.
- Viva/Barnes - It's hard to gauge numbers bc they're doing the YT/Rumble combo that Nick copied. Viva's able to draw big creators (Blaire White 2 days ago), still goes on low-key panels (mostly Hunley's), yet has carved out a 'thinking man's conservative' crowd (contrast that with Nick's Locals) with fairly robust discussions of legislation along with quality interviews.
My Take Away: The redpill stuff is tired and declining (at least in LawTube). Focusing on the law works for lawyers (brilliant analysis, I know).
Side Note: Most of those doing well do not have parasocial interactions with their subs whatsoever. If anything, they try to keep a strong distance. Contrast that with Nick, Mindset, Vices and Joe who are obsessed with their own following.
Side Note II: Nick's recent comments about streaming on Rumble exclusively and doing pre-recorded vids for YT initially seemed dumb to me. But, actually, it's clear that Nate, Andrea, TheLeadAttorney and - separately - The Quartering (3-5 vids/day!!) do pretty very well with that old model. Thing is, Nate and Jeremy have PRODUCERS...
Edit: I forgot Sean/Potentially Criminal! He's everyone's favorite acerbic teddy bear and DEF lurks here (he's said so). Anyway, I'd call him a redpill orbiter and his numbers are pretty flat. I'm told his Discord is hot and very active, however. Apparently it's full of Nick dissenters. AND I forgot Kurt. Def redpilled adjacent and is also flat to declining and whining about it.
