Overwatch

Funny how Schreier and another Kotaku blogger kinda forgot about reporting on the #MeToo shit and OWL being a scam until it was ok to do so.

also wtf is that character, I never want to see anyone complain about attikus again...
What even is the "story" of Overwatch? I thought they were a team of super heroes but they keep fighting their own selves in PvP and everytime they add a new character they look so out of place.

I do have to smirk when all these people say "OvErWatCh HaS sUcH a DiVeRsE and DeEp StOrY"

It is if you are dented, what is really to report that robots went rogue or some shit and Soldier wanted to fuck Raper but Raper got angry and made an edgy team of Naruto drop outs like
Moira not Orichimaro - she's a morally grey not evil but morally grey scientist. Might be a dyke with Mercy or at least degen audience want this
Widowmaker - who is literally fucking black widow but French and a spider lady
I honestly forgot the others except doomfist who is just fucking lame.

The story for this game is an shallow and unoriginal as a puddle of piss outside a nightclub.

Blizzdrones should recognize that Overwatch never had a "DiVeRsE and DeEp StOrY." It was created from the ruins of Titan.

They only added the story as an afterthought for the game that's really made for eSports.

I'm looking forward to the class action lawsuit for Blizzard's false advertisement.

How can you even make a plot when the game itself allows every team to use all characters?
to be fair there's gameplay and then there's story, one doesn't necessarily have anything to do with each other. stuff like that is usually where people can suspend their disbelief enough and understand blizzard isn't gonna invest extra time and money to make a good/bad copy of every character to "fit the story".

worst case you can still explain it with some form of gay capeshit team-up where character A teams up with the good/bad guys because reasons.

That was probably what the PvE missions where gonna do, similar to the Archives event where you are limited to select characters on a mission, but also has an Arcade mode so you can use whoever you want.
But with PvE canceled, its never gonna happen.

This year's blizzcon is gonna end in a riot lol. This was an EA-tier stunt, and I'm guessing it would also be grounds for a false advertisement lawsuit?

I think the calls for a lawsuit are reaching and I really dislike OW as a game. They pretty clearly defined the PVP and PVE modes and pushed OW2 as a free-to-play game, so the damages would be to the effect of $0. They haven't sold anything to anyone that's strictly PVE and even doing so doesn't technically constitute fraud (see Star Citizen or whatever).

That said - it's pretty clear that PVE was never going to come out and Blizzard pushed out OW2 "as is" just for the sequel hype/PVP fixes fully knowing that PVE was not going to ever be finished and sat on that particular announcement for a year and some change.

Blizzard is really damaging what little goodwill they have left with their audience - Diablo 4 better be fucking amazing otherwise Blizzard is going to be in some extremely deep shit.

@Tanner Glass I don't know fam, i don't feel good about it.

I am in the same camp as you though Diablo 4 I was "hoping" to be good but I really don't know. The beta was so mixed and I think the reviews are embargoed until the 2nd of June. I have a really bad feeling about that alone because doing that with a release that you need to sell to course correct is suss. Them sitting on the announcement changes the entire outcome of the products reception though because I can bet you it would have barely no players on launch.

Like I said they deserve it though, they have emotionally manipulated their playerbase for years and this is what you get. According to insiders too the company has a major talent draught too as well as being the lowest paying major studio/publisher.

Oh I personally don't think D4 will be any good - I think whatever magic once was at Blizzard died in like ~2006 and this is as far as inertia will carry the company.

I watched some of the beta footage and it very much seems like an incomplete product and not something that really represents 5+ years of development time and not something that's going to set it very far apart from Diablo 3 or put it as a contender to Path of Exile. Maybe it opens up and goes absolutely nuts at max level, but it feels very much like an Overwatch 2/Starcraft 2/Diablo 3 situation of "release what we've got and try and fix it post-launch" which is how they got into this situation in the first place.

They need D4 to be good otherwise they'll have mined out and ruined basically every franchise they've got; no idea where they'd try and go from there. Between OW2, WoW, and (probably) D4 - they've demonstrated they take an extremely long time, as in literal years upon years to only be able to develop ~40% of a finished product.

Thing is, they said Overwatch 2 was free to play, would have PVE... but they didn't say it was going to replace Overwatch, which was not free.

The game that people purchased was taken away and replaced with something they did not want.

I'm not saying it isn't a scummy move, just not a criminal one.

They already did this with WC3 Reforged replacing WC3 and other companies have shut down games for similar reasons (Star Wars Galaxies being shut down for SWTOR, most fighting game MM servers, and so on).

Buying live service games doesn't mean you own them forever or that they'll exist as-is forever - you technically don't even own the game (you own a license for accessing the game with no express ownership).

They could even go so far as to say that the PVP is still Overwatch 1 and that OW1 was always going to be moved to 5v5.

I hate Blizzard as much as the next guy (maybe more so) but I just don't think a class action lawsuit would ever take off or succeed around Overwatch.

I remember hearing that the PvE would be an expansion for OW1. Technically, you never "spent" money for the PvE so you never "lost" anything with your purchase. Good luck trying to start a class action lawsuit with Blizzard's sudden cancellation of PvE. I'm sure there's something in the terms that protects Activision from liability for the OW2 shift change.

I mean the simple fact is ABK probably has a better legal team than whatever dollar store lawyer you could scrape up.

It would be ABK + all kinds of representation across the entire games industry. If the lawsuit were allowed to succeed - it would have massive repercussions across the entire industry and no company wants that precedent to be set.

Overwatch 2 pride will have 2 gay reveals.

lol, faggots.

Every time I try to play this game, it quickly reminds me of the existence of doom and Hammond. Fighting bad doom/ball is boring, but if they somewhat competent, fighting them became absolutely insufferable. If any other tank in my team can be bad, then in the case of doom/ball we de facto do not have one.
