Overwatch

I want to remind everyone that battleborn launched with 8 story missions and added 5 more via DLC.

what this means is fucking GEARBOX of 2015 was more competent than blizzard of 2023. :story:
I'd honestly rather play Battleborn then Overwatch at this point, too bad the game is dead.

I knew Overwatch was going to die a slow painful death when they started to remove everything I liked about it.. No more being able to have six of the same Hero on your team and being able to quickly change to whatever situation.. Now your stuck playing a 5v5 game where you have to queue with what role you want to play.
that coping LMAO "maybe microsoft will fix it"
Maybe they will fix it by just shutting it down.. Overwatch 2 at this point is just a giant fucking money sink.

Halo Infinite would like a word with them. (I know it's 343i, but that's an MS studio and IP.)

They massively hyped the PvE with the F2P change with Overwatch 2 only to publicly back out of it NOW.

I've given Blizzard the benefit of the doubt with the $60 MSRP, loot boxes, repeat events, even OWL monetization. I see why Jeff Kaplan left when he did. OW2 is a sinking ship given ALL the BS that Activision is going through currently.

I do love how executive producer Jared Neuss pretty much came out and said, "Yeah you know all the stuff that other games have that we've been promising? That's too hard for us." Like, bitch. You get paid to develop games. If in 4 years all you got is "the dog ate my homework" some folks ought to be getting fired.

Give us back the game we paid for back in 2016. Most of us will be happier. I even promise to buy some loot boxes first thing if this happens.
(spoiler alert - It won't happen.)

Real talk, PvE was just repurposed multiplayer maps with AI and scripted sequences. Now they're just admitting they don't know how to create actual PvE.

From what I heard, Jeff's team fought tooth and nail with Activision TO have OW1 progress migrate to OW2.

Yes, cancel the only reason why anyone bought or would buy this game. You shut down the predecessor to force people to integrate to the sequel, and now you have a game with an even less offering than what came before. There was no need for a sequel as opposed to updating the base game.

What the fuck were you guys doing the entire time? All you confirmed this game to be is a money-grab. From all the stuff like the sexual harassment allegations and SJW hypocrisy, you couldn't afford to have this news on your plate too.

Did the writer's strike have something to do with this? They couldn't produce PvE multiplayer scenarios because potential writers were busy circlejerking or something? Because they can't possibly be this inept to keep killing any good will they have with their customers.

I think it's going to turn real toxic shortly because once the cope leaves, it's just hatred.

I am still stunned, WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY ACTUALLY DOING!!!! They were working on this for 5 years and had nothing. Remember in 2019 they said they were working on this for about a year and a half. They spent more than the developmental time for FUCKING ELDEN RING!!! and produced nothing. Like there comes a time when you have to audit your talent because the actual content produced for Overwatch 2 was parody.

Ah yes scrap the PvE mode, but assure us that PvE is still a focus. I can imagine it now... Blizzard devs, in their infinite wisdom, has taken notice of TF2's successful community-ran Mann-vs-Machine update and will start adding their own bots to matches to provide a genuine PvE experience.

Even coomers are losing interest now, they been carrying this joke of a game for years

Its over
Did the writer's strike have something to do with this?
Just hire writers in other countries, the overwatch "lore" its a fucking joke and the characters always looked like parodies of other vidya characters, specially idiots like tracer and the reaper dude

I fail to see how they're going to keep PvE a focus after scrapping the campaign mode they were supposed to be working on since 2019. These little "missions" they plan on churning out sound no different from the Archives event. That's not gonna make up for it.

Y'know, I've long joked how the porn of Overwatch would outlive the actual game, holy shit it might not actually be a joke. I just watched the clip, and how nonchalantly they announced the PvE being scrapped legit made me have to rewind and make sure I heard that properly.

I peeked in on the Subreddit, and it seems quiet, but I'm not sure how much of that is the Jannies there working overtime, considering how much they liked throating the boot when I still lurked there, and how much of that is even people on Reddit have stopped giving a shit about Overwatch 2. Overwatch fans on Twitter, meanwhile, are gearing up for a Boycott until Blizzard "changes their mind" - just uninstall fucktards, it's Modern Blizzard, you aren't changing their minds for shit.

Blizzard is now a cautionary tale of why Game Studios and Game Devs shouldn't be treated like they can do no wrong - eventually, they start to believe that, and looking at their record the last half decade of so, they're well into that.

What else were you expecting from him? Most of the devs who made the company good left or were fired. Now it's a few WoW era devs trying to orchestrate a diverse team of retards.
Looks like you'll have to play Team Fortress to scratch the Overwatch itch.

So what the fuck have they been doing since 2019?
And can we at least have our loot boxes back?
They've been working on OW2 - meaning heroes, maps, and so on. It's very likely that OW has been turned into some version of a skeleton crew after they couldn't deliver on Hero Mode (which sounds like it would have lifted heavily from TF2's Mann v. Machine mode) and they don't have the capacity to do anything major anymore. It's going to be mediocre events, maps, and heroes all the way down.

The real issue is likely that OW2 has changed game directors like 4 fucking times in that span, meaning no consistent vision and no one to drive results and a lot of the devs were probably doing "Work from Home" things (aka, not working).

I can see a potential law suit happening, I can just fucking feel it. So why? Basically it was a promised component of pre orders on the watchpoint packs bare in mind they were £40. From what I know on the fine print there was no element about components being removed. They essentially committed knowledgable fraud as if there are communications on discovery that point to it being delayed before release.

Honestly I knew that shit was being cancelled because there was not footage or updates for years but come the fuck on Blizzard. You decide to release this statement right before Diablo 4 too when you know the damage bad faith has done to you. I can feel Microsoft rip this studio apart and just strip the assets because in 4 fucking years you did 2 heroes and 4 maps that were shit. You literally and knowingly created this "sequel" for free to play monetisation. That is low even for Blizzard, you destroyed a good game for greed and that is it.

I cannot wait to see the MUAs because they are going to drop like the world trade centre.

You did this to yourselves Blizzard.
This is unlikely as they were going to have PVE be a separate purchase - now there's no PVE so no purchase. Someone at Blizzard had the foresight to think "There's no fucking way PVE releases" and pushed out OW2 as MP only (see also Starcraft 2). They're going to some basic bitch PVE stuff and then go "Yeah, we did it".

Microsoft (if they're ever allowed to buy Blizzard) has a pretty stern hands-off approach to studios. They most recently allowed Arkane to release Redfall in the state it was in (complete dogshit), they released Outer Worlds as-is, and so on. They didn't gut Bethesda over Fallout 76 so it's unlikely they do anything to Acti/Blizzard unless Diablo 4 craters unbelievably hard.

Yeah I almost logged in in reddit to offer up my opinion on things, but then I noticed how fast posts were disappearing and didn't bother. Heaven forbid word gets out about how much people hate what is happening with this game.
