Lobo also sounds like a short version of the word lobotomy. What better way to name your kid the foreign word for wolf than to also have his name sound like the short version of cutting up someones brain.

Because it's Spain and naming someone Wolfgang would be even more ridiculous that Lobo. And people there just can't handle foreign words due to the difference in phonemes and general lack of bilinguals. There's also a bit of a thing in Spain, where foreign-sounding names (such as "Jeniffer" or "Jonathan") are usually considered a sign of low-class parents and get mangled into a phonetic equivalent (above examples, "Yenifer" and "Yónatan"). "W" is for example not used in Spanish words, and there are few things ending in double consonants like "-ng" or "-lf" either, so it would end as something like "Gufgan", "Guolgan" or who the fuck knows.

Lobo is an actual Spanish word so the word itself doesn't sound ridiculous, even if it does to English speakers, but as mentioned in the news piece, it's a valid (although not common) surname, and would be equivalent to naming your kid "Smith". Either way, it's a completely ridiculous choice of name even for locals, and I am kinda glad for the kid that the authorities denied it. It's not the kid's fault that their parents are wolfaboo fucktards.

MADRID (AP) — A couple in Spain have started an online petition after registry officials refused to let them call their newborn son the Spanish word for "Wolf."

The father, Nako Javierre, says in a letter accompanying the petition that he and his wife Maria decided on the name because of "our love for this animal."

But he says the Fuenlabrada registry office in Madrid earlier this month refused to accept the name because it could be "offensive" for their son. They later said "Lobo" was a surname in Spanish and could cause confusion.

The parents noted that the name is acceptable in other countries and hope to use the petition to back their argument in court. The petition had just over 2,000 supporters Thursday.

There was no immediate comment from officials.

That's not that bad, he could read all the Marvel comics about Lobo and impress his white friends by telling them his name is Spanish for wolf.

If his parents were Japanese they'd call him Okami, which is way worse.

If his parents were American, they'd just call him Wolf and people would just think they were big CNN fans.

Well, if they really wanted to name their child to suit their wolfaboo faggotry, they should've called him Adolfo. That means "noble wolf" and it is the Spanish iteration of Adolf. It would mean he shares the name with this guy though:

Adolf Hitler was also a massive wolfaboo faggot that obsessed over the animals and would frequently go into tirades about how cool they were. Hard to believe this guy used to be one of the biggest threats in the world.
