To add some context to this: Appelbaum was thrown out of the Tor project after getting accused of rape by a bunch of people around 2016. The entire board of directors resigned over this, too. A lot of these accounts imploded later, but not before Appelbaum was kicked out - I specifically remember that one account's author didn't even know that her story was added to the site hosting the accusations and claimed that it got exaggerated. They tried to get Daniel Bernstein too, but that didn't end up working. Fun fact: The guy acting like a mongoloid in the replies is musl libc's Rich Felker, who is otherwise pretty sane. The tech industry really is tiny.

The situation was sketchy as fuck, but it's pretty hard to track down all the sources nowadays.

Yeah, the accusations started in June 2016.
A website jacobappelbaum[dot]net was launched which contained pictures of Appelbaum and when you clicked one of those pics then an anonymous story of an alleged victim popped up.
